In the hour of this nation's gravest peril, the people's representatives in Washington have taken a bold stand. All except nine of hater, who, because they made the Baby Jesus cry, ought to be taken out to the mall food court and waterboarded with Mr. Pibb.
What a bunch of clowns. I swear. Merry Christmas, dillweeds.

Rod:
Is it true that they rocked the Baby Jesus to sleep with the reading of the resolution(s)??
Let's see...we can't get SCHIP passed, we can't agree on a war funding bill, we can't pass the Alternative Minimum Tax patch, and we are STILL waiting for several spending bills for the current fiscal year to crawl out of the hole that is our Congress.
BUT...we have time to pass resolutions honoring religious holidays and giving nine-toed twits like Rep. King a platform to launch into yet another spasm of stupidity.
Honestly, those of us in Iowa would be very happy right now if the Nebraska national guard invaded and took Rep. King's homestead as their territory. Can we force a legislative district to secede from a state?
Merry Christmas, Cleveland, Erin and to all my friends and acquaintances here who observe that holy day. If you'll forgive the parallelism... may you have joy in the Birth of the Son, as I celebrate the Return of the Sun. :-D And to certain, specific people:
Natalis Solis Invicti
Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda
Christos Razdajetsja
Hristos se rodi
If any of you will be in the Philadelphia area the week before Christmas, you have my personal invitation to attend our Winter Solstice Celebration, a ritual performance of song and spoken word: http://pagan-arts.org/
I don't know who to hate more -- Steve King getting one more political arrow in his quiver for his "Keep Iowa White as the Driven Snow" campaign, or the 9 Dems who voted against it who are truly the loony left of the party (or, at least in 1 case I saw, honest-to-goodness have very few Christian constituents).
Larry - re: the 9 .... or just picked a very strange moment to reject the inherent silliness of these "breathing is good" sort of resolution votes.
