Spring, sprung

Friday March 21, 2008

Categories: Ah, Texas

Had lunch today with Dallas's leading bon vivant, our friend Rawlins Gilliland (see party pic below), so no matter what other fun thing I do today, it'll all be downhill. It's a beautiful spring day here in Dallas. The cable man just came to unhook our business, and he and I got to talking about how great the beef and the wine is in his native Argentina (not the thing Mr. Fastee needed to hear, but he just about convinced me to get on the next plane to Buenos Aires). Matthew just said to me, "Dad, you're not going to blog, are you? It's too pretty outside to blog." Um, yeah. Got it. Coming...

Spring??? HAH!

We've got a foot of snow outside. And the weather gods are not getting any more sacrifices until they learn to read a calendar.

Just what I want to read after spending the afternoon in Newark's airport and then making the mad dash for the connection in Charlotte.

Y'all need to come on down here to the South Carolina Lowcountry. It'll be about 70 today, sunny, and the azaleas in magnificent full bloom. Just don't talk to me in July, when I'm miserable and wilting...

In Wisconsin, we got 10+ inches of snow, and Good Friday services were cancelled. It makes a nice bookend to Lent; Ash Wednesday services were also cancelled due to a blizzard. Maybe more snow coming next week.

Azaleas! Oh, now, Margaret, you *really* make me miss home. Springtime is the most beautiful season in West Feliciana Parish. Azaleas everywhere. This is the weekend of the spring festival in my hometown. See here.
