Spring, sprung

Friday March 21, 2008

Categories: Ah, Texas
Had lunch today with Dallas's leading bon vivant, our friend Rawlins Gilliland (see party pic below), so no matter what other fun thing I do today, it'll all be downhill. It's a beautiful spring day here in Dallas. The cable...

Rod, I am laughing SO hard. (Not about the pic, which is great!) I edit a small newsweekly here in Beaufort, SC, on which I write a blog, too (and have linked to you, often, by the way). Anyway, my six year old daughter, Amelia, who's out on Spring Break (not a Brat yet, thank God) asked the same question of me this afternoon (in almost the exact same words), and I regretfully got up from the computer (it's been a juicy week, yes?) and walked her down to the park, which was in glorious full bloom and full of laughing children. Once there, I was so insanely glad to be away from the computer, which I now refer to as the 'ol' ball and chain.' What an addiction this blogging thing is! Have you written about that, yet? If so, I missed it...

Well, you're about TWO months ahead of us in the Spring dept. It looks as if we're going to have quite the mud season this year.

But, hope springs eternal. Encouraged by beautiful blue skies, We tried the park today. With the ice and the freezing winds, the kids lasted about 5 minutes.

It's definitely not spring in New England. I'll dream about it though. Enjoy.

[Way to go on cutting the cord, BTW. We're down to 13 channels and just - can't - let - go.] :)

As I sit inside, sipping homemade chicken soup and staring out at the blizzard, I'm contemplating a move to Texas. I hear Austin is nice...
(Nah, not reallly. I love Wisconsin. I just... wish this winter would ennnnnd!)

Spring??? HAH!

We've got a foot of snow outside. And the weather gods are not getting any more sacrifices until they learn to read a calendar.

Just what I want to read after spending the afternoon in Newark's airport and then making the mad dash for the connection in Charlotte.

Y'all need to come on down here to the South Carolina Lowcountry. It'll be about 70 today, sunny, and the azaleas in magnificent full bloom. Just don't talk to me in July, when I'm miserable and wilting...

In Wisconsin, we got 10+ inches of snow, and Good Friday services were cancelled. It makes a nice bookend to Lent; Ash Wednesday services were also cancelled due to a blizzard. Maybe more snow coming next week.

Azaleas! Oh, now, Margaret, you *really* make me miss home. Springtime is the most beautiful season in West Feliciana Parish. Azaleas everywhere. This is the weekend of the spring festival in my hometown. See here.
