You can't make this up. Via John Miller at the Corner, more evidence of the good that William F. Buckley did with his life's work. I present to you the Red Army Chorus assisting with the Leningrad Cowboys' performance of "Sweet Home Alabama":

Me too, reddopto.

And I want to know why something Finland-related seems to appear everywhere I turn these days. Is Lahti somehow doing to the space-time continuum what he does to the language?

Stranger than fiction!

What a disgrace. These men should be ashamed of themselves. You either decide the uniform was evil and you get rid of it, or you try to redeem it by acting with dignity and class, not by playing the straight man to frivolity and self-contempt.

"...something Finland-related seems to appear everywhere I turn these days."

- Mac.

"Surely, Sherman, you're old enough to remember what it means to be - 'Finlandised'?

- Mr. Peabody.

As one whose briefly Winter-Warring brethren kept their balance in being forced during a later "war" no longer "hot" on the field but quite as frigid in import, to Sisu back and forth in a game of chicken between eagle and bear, in hoping their cry from the sidelines of "let's you and him fight" was no more to be taken literally than George Carlin's line-you'll-never-hear "Do what you want to the girl, just leave me alone", I was only too happy to see, on the evidence of that video, the resumption of Finland's long march to the west. The fact that the Red Army Chorus was now willing to play straight man to a lead singer with pointy harlequin shoes and a cock's-comb coif almost as long as he was tall only shows, where once its hymnbook had it playing herald to a crimson tide by which Sweet Home Alabama would earn its tag not on the gridiron but as the southern flank of a new Borscht Belt anything but a proving ground for Philosemite-Sam ironists, only proves the persistence of that old stock figure: Fool's Russian, where Anglos feared *tout* Red.

What a disgrace. These men should be ashamed of themselves.

Too true. Sluts and dirtbags, the lot.

(Oh no, here comes the mob! I'm outta here!)
