He hates me, he really hates me!

Categories: Conservatism
Oh joy beyond all telling! My demented nemesis Roy Edroso has named this here blog in his smart-ass Village Voice Election-Year Guide to the Right-Wing Blogsphere. To be hated by the Village Voice is surely a mark of distinction. Shouldn't...

The more important question: is it better to be intelligent or happy?

I read this earlier and was wondering why exactly you were on it, Rod. My opinion: it's better to be stupid. At least then you get pity.

P.S. Also, Jonah's rating should be 100/0. There's nothing evil about him, he's just plain loony.

Better to be evil, you can't fix stupid!

Were it not for the references on your blog, who would Roy Edroso be? I for one had never heard of him.

A quick pair of Google searches show more than 98,000 hits for "Rod Dreher". "Roy Edroso" generates less than one-twelfth of that. My guess is his cyber-stalking is motivated by the desire to raise his own low profile.

Edroso seems bitter and antipathetic toward those who are not like him. Perhaps there are layoffs looming on the Village Voice staff? Or can one only hope?

Is it better to be stupid or evil?

That's the great tension in the leftist mindset: Are their opponents fools who must be educated, or villains who must be destroyed?

I always enjoy the cognitive dissonance this tension produces, as when George W. Bush is denounced similtaneously as an intellectually vacant, inarticulate frat boy AND as the evil mastermind of the War for Halliburton's Profits and Diebold's co-conspirator in rigging the results of the 2004 election.

The best part of that Village Voice thing is the accompanying illustrations by Tom Tomorrow. Rod, I didn't realize how much you look like Philip K. Dick!

Wow, that was a really mean article. Guess that's what some people call constructive. But beware the psyche of the belittler. Poor guy. Somebody didn't give Roy enough hugs.

Edroso says in the piece that Rod has decided “God will judge America, and judge it harshly. And perhaps is judging America . . .” and then points out that "Despite this, he strongly denounces Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright for his “God damn America” comments—which would seem inconsistent, were we unaware of Dreher’s feelings on race, as seen in his frequent denunciations of black racism and reminiscences of how he was once denied a job in favor of “a woman or a minority.”"

I didn't know you had decided God will judge America, Rod. It does raise questions about why you disagree so vehemently with Wright - seems he decided the exact same thing, and the judgement wasn't positive.

As for the 50/50 percentages (stupid/evil ratio), he simply has them wrong. :{O)

Simon - you are dead wrong.

While there are tensions aplenty on this mythical left (it is not a single nor cohesive group, at least not that I could see from a lifetime of over-exposure to it), no "lefty" considers Bush a Mastermind of anything.

The contenders for that title are Rove and Cheney. ;^)

Rod,

Definitely (theologically, at least) it's better to be stupid than evil.

Score one for Dr'er Rod*, aka Dreh-Rod, batting cleanup from the dirty home plate of our "slut" culture:

*[aka Uncle Ream Us - Ed.]

Oscar Wilde: There is only one thing worse than being talked about - and that is *not* being talked about.

Joseph Biden, Mike Barnicle, Doris Kearns Goodwin: We wish *we* had said that!

Wilde: You will, plagiarists, you will...

Q. Bellringer, with what do the trolls in this blog's Comments threads compensate for their lack of humor?
Quasimodo: Sanctimony!

Get Rod drunk, and he reveals that he, too, dreams of electric sheep.

[Whoops, that's a charge better leveled at readers of Sully's blog, aka Androids. - Ed.]

Get Rod *high* and he reveals that he watches (not sings) *The Body Electric* - after pressing "Mute"...

Rod - congrats!!! I thought I should read Roy's blog on these stupid/evil conservatives. I don't know Roy's heart, so I cannot rate the evil-o-meter; but, I can read his ability to make logical deductions and ability to report fairly. He fails utterly - so I think I can rate his stupid factor afirly - 80%. After all, it would be 100%, but fairness dictates since he can string a sentence together, he cannot be completely stupid.

Neither stupid nor evil, but I found Village Voice's opinion of Rod rather amusing. Like all caricatures.

There's no such thing as bad publicity. Damn shame though that you're getting publicity among and between ads for methadone and tranny hookers.

Rod, your headline on this thread HAS to be wrong! Liberals and progressives don't "hate!" They are always tolerant and accepting of diversity, remember? It is the conservatives that are the haters!
