My father told me that when George Reeves ("Superman" on TV in the 50s) shot himself, people were joking about whether the bullets bounced off. Sigh.
On a much lighter note, two law firms -- Dewey Ballantine and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe -- at one time announced a planned merger, with the resulting firm to be named "Dewey Orrick." This quickly gave rise to an unfortunate nickname:
