It's Obama

Tuesday June 3, 2008

Categories: Democrats

ABC News calling the Democratic race for Barack Obama. In his opening remarks, Charlie Gibson pointed out that black people were once slaves in this country, and now, the Democratic Party is going to nominate a black man for president.

Can we all just take a moment to say: This is really something! We are blessed to have lived to see this moment. Seriously, I mean that.

So, Hillary is now saying that she's open to being the vice presidential nominee. Some gall! I hope Obama is not foolish enough to take that bait. You can't get Hillary without getting Bill in the bargain, and he'd bigfoot Obama every chance he got. It would be a nightmare. Plus, doesn't putting a Clinton on the ticket undercut a key rationale for his campaign -- breaking from the Boomer past?

No. Make a clean break from the Clintons. Obama will regret it if he doesn't.

But does anyone seriously believe that Hispanics and educated white women and Jews are going to flock to McCain and the GOP.

Hillary would make a great ambassador to Bosnia because she's such a hard working white person, as far as I know.

Actually Daniel, it was a black pundit who said on a talking heads show, early on in the campaign that he'd received lots of e-mails from black viewers who asked him why they were saying Obama was black when he was actually bi-racial.

I rather think, from my perch on the outside looking in, that Mrs. Clinton would have had a much better chance of winning in November than Barack Obama has. Nevertheless, for the reasons Rod and others point out, Obama has to muster the courage to tell Hillary that he'd rather lose without her than win with her.

"for many people having a ticket consisting of two minorities, or a minority and a woman, would be just too much"

David, women are the majority in America, not a minority.

Yes, which is why I added "a minority and a woman" to describe an Obama-Hillary ticket, to acknowledge that "two minorities" obviously didn't include women. Please read what other people write before jumping all over it.

When I mentioned a "ticket consisting of two minorities", I was referring to my suggestion that Obama pick Bill Richardson as his running mate, who is Hispanic and, therefore, also a minority.
