Sharpton's shakedowns

Wednesday June 18, 2008

The New York Post reports on how Al Sharpton is shaking down corporate America to keep his rent-a-mob off its collective back. Good for the Post, but this won't accomplish much. I wrote a series of articles for the Post...

This man has been a paid FBI informant for years, and it almost certainly kept him out of jail. He must've finally crossed some line that they could no longer tolerate.Possibly the fact that witnesses in the Sean Bell case admit under oath that Sharpton and his sidekick lawyer Sanford Rubenstein had paid them thousands based on expected lawsuit outcomes finally caused the powers that be to start looking. The media in NY didn't look very hard because on almost any issue he was a easy quote, if substance free, journalistic cotton candy(as I'm sure our host knows too well from the Aliyah nonsense, which was obliterated by 9/11 happening). The local 24/7 cable news channel, NY1, should have given him a desk and credentials. Jam a microphone in his ugly face, the stories wrote themselves, and no need to break shoe leather.

Having seen his act upclose a few times, this is long overdue.

Al Sharpton claimed a month ago that he is in touch with Barack Obama by phone at least twice a week or more. One wonders what they talk about.

Sharpton is about as corrupt as they come. Of course, when he aventually gets convicted on a federal charge he'll have nothing to worry about. All those phone calls to BO -- all that shared intimacy -- will pay off with a pardon from President Barack Obama. Or so he hopes.

Sharpton is pure SCUM.

I've been following Sharpie since his involvement years ago in the Tijuana Brawley case. This was extensively reported in the New York Times.

IIRC, one man, falsely accused by lying Tijuana, wound up committing suicide. (Of course, Sharpie still sticks up for Tijuana today). Then, there was Sharpie's involvement with the clothing store boycott in Harlem in 1995, which ultimately resulted in the deaths of 8 people in a horrendous fire in the store.

Sharpie is a fraud, not yet in the league with Jesse Jackson, but quickly heading there.

I'm a registered Democrat. But if I find out that in fact, Sharpie is in contact with Obama a couple of times a week as he claims, then, um, no vote by me for Obama.

"newenglander":

The NYC press enjoys covering the always quotable Mr. Sharpton. About a couple of months ago, the NY Daily News ran a story with this headline, "During rally, Al Sharpton says he's keeping support for Obama quiet"

The story ran in their March 19th edition. The url is quite long and I don't think would fit here, but it is easy to find by googling.

In the story, "Sharpie" makes the claims about his "Obama connection" and the frequent contacts with the Illinois senator. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.

Well, anyone can claim anything. Sharpton has also criticized Obama harshly in interviews based on positions that Obama has taken. So can't take for granted that because Sharpton (a person that, in other contexts, you likely wouldn't trust to give you accurate time or weather) is necessarily telling the truth.

Ooh, new way to sabotage a campaign. I'm an atheist. I'll state that McCain and I are in regular contact. We chat for hours about how right Hitchens and Dawkins are, and have tea.

Karen Brown: "Well, anyone can claim anything."

Gee, Karen, have you been spending too much time gazing at yourself in the mirror? Judging from some of the slimeball things you've been saying about McCain on other posts, I guess you're an expert at "claiming" just about "anything."

What 'slimeball' things?

That he divorced his first wife on charges of adultery?

That's public record.

That he was cheating on his first wife with is second wife?

That's also public record. Things he, himself, has fully acknowledged in interviews.

I think anyone that endorses the Swiftboat crew, brings up Kerry in a tank 4 years after the election (as if being in a tank, in and of itself, is some kind of crime, rather than simply looking a little goofy.. and if that's a charge, Bush should get life), and has said that people have the right to dig up and bring up things about 'associates', including specifically wives, so we don't find out about them after the election has a leg to stand on, when talking about saying 'slimeball' things about ANYONE.

Or the stuff you never even tried to refute.

Like McCain flip flopping on off-shore drilling.

Or the fact that he's had members of his own campaign who were lobbyists, and has accepted tens of thousands of dollars not only from lobbyists, but specifically K Street lobbyists. As early as 2003.
