Let me once again warn ye who post on this site that for some reason, the comments software is being irritable these days, and holding an unusual number of comments, for inexplicable reasons. In almost every case, nobody is holding...
I've had a couple of comments go off into the "your comment is being held" bin in the past. I just chock it up to the inscutable workings of providence. Perhaps some comments are not meant to be.

I think I speak for combox motormouths everywhere when I say that *commentus interrupt us* has to be the most frustrating thing since, er - "I don't know what-all". (after Andy Griffith) Once you notify him by email, though, and he's near his computer, Rod does indeed do above-and-beyond yeoman's work in commentable liberation.
BAD software! Where's my rolled-up newspaper?

BAD software! Where's my rolled-up newspaper?
So, what are going to use to swat misbehaving dogs once digital media have driven newspapers into oblivion? To wrap fish? Line bird cages? put muddy boots on?
I mean, I don't know anyone who can make a nifty pirate hat out of an i-Phone! ;-)
(I'm thinking of the opening credits to the old Lou Grant TV series, where the daily life-cycle of the newspaper is shown from its arrival on the customer's front stoop, to being read over breakfast, to being put at the bottom of the bird cage. ;-) )

Rod, why don't you post an entry about the whole "Chet Edwards is on Obama's short list" nonsense. Like no one would find it an odd coincidence that the last ticket was Kerry-Edwards and this one would be Obama-Edwards.
I would be willing to wager that the conversation went something like this--
Reporter: Who is on Obama's short list?
Obama Camp: Well, Kaine, Bayh, Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Edwards...
Reporter: Edwards?!? After the whole affair/love-child incident, your vetting people didn't read the Enquirer?
Obama Camp: Uh....did I say Edwards?
Reporter: Yes, you said Edwards. I've got it on tape.
Since this is a low-intensity thread about blog housekeeping, perhaps this is a chance to ask something that's been on my mind: Any chance of updating some of your links to other blogs? Amy Welborn closed "Open Book" over a year ago (even though the site is still accessible) and now writes a different blog at a different web address, and I think Daniel Larison also has a new web address.

I think many entries are held because of the links in them. I've decided to copy any entries with links to the clipboard before posting, and if they fail to paste them back in and unlink them.

Dear members,
If you have comments being held by spambot, please do not keep submitting them over and over. You are encouraging spambot to believe it is really capturing spam. Don't feed spambot!
Please email the community mailbox: community@staff.beliefnet.com
If you put the name of the blog in the subject line, I will see it faster and I'll check the Spam file for this blog, find the comments, and release them asap. We do check every evening, but I really don't mind looking earlier or more often.
And yes, links (particularly embedded ones) can make spambot salivate. Pavlovian response, perhaps?
And if it makes you feel any better, I HAVE found Mr Dreher's comments, as well as mine, held in the spam file. O_o
Thanks!

UPDATE:
Since I was in the system anyway, I checked. As of 6pm EST all held comments (there were two) have been released (out of nearly 200 pieces of spam - a very light day for this blog).
FYI: If you wish to use Anonymous as a username, please type it out. We do get quite a bit of spam that shows up this way; however, it looks different when typed or not.
[Anonymous] - not typed
Anonymous - typed
I'm less likely to miss it if it's typed.
Thanks!
