Is Biden the One's one?

Friday August 22, 2008

Categories: Democrats

David Brooks hopes so, and makes a good case for a Biden vice presidency. As someone who is not going to vote for Obama, I have to say that I would be more calmed by a Biden pick than anybody else I can think of, because of his familiarity with foreign policy. I think putting Biden on the ticket would do a lot toward assuaging concerns about Obama's lack of experience. What think ye? I do believe we're going to have a name today; it's in Obama's interest to own tonight's national news, as well as Saturday's (when he officially rolls out his running mate), and the Sunday news shows rolling toward Denver. This is going to be an exciting political weekend.

Besides, picking Biden would make John Schwenkler very, very happy out yonder in Berkeley grad school. Excerpt:

There is nothing in the world I hate more than watching that arrogant, loud-mouthed prick ramble on and on for dozens of words at a time without pausing for a breath, and if the Alito hearings taught me anything it's that a solid ten minutes of drowning in his shtick will make Kant start to look like Seinfeld. If there is anyone who's going to get my head buried back in those books, it's Biden, and you're the one who can give him the forum to do just that.

I would consider it a possible reason NOT to vote for Obama, if he chooses Biden.
Every time I have seen Biden on C-Span for a hearing or floor speech, he comes across as an arrogant and pretentious jerk. ("Like me." - The Joker.)
I would not be able to handle that bloviator pontificating for four years.

That's right. The McCains pay $270,000 per year for butlers and maids--that's $50,000 more than the median value of an American home.

Just an average guy

Sure hope Biden isn't some kind of elitist. We sure hate them elitist kind of guys.

Choosing Biden probably won't change the minds of the fifth of Clinton voters who'll vote for McCain in Nov.

Why are my comments not getting through?

While I have no problem with Biden, I have experienced the problem of chosing running mates based of "experience" for both parties in teh past.
