What kind of Christian is Sarah Palin?
It's hard to say. People say she's an Evangelical, but what does that mean, really? Is she a Pentecostal? A Bible churcher? Christianity Today reports that she was baptized a Catholic as an infant, but her parents raised her in...
This just gets better and better. Remember what I've said about how confused the Left would be in its attack?
If they go down this road, they'll torpedo everything they've tried to build this year in reaching out to Christians - the Saddleback appearance, the appeals to faith, the prayers at the convention. It will all be for naught.
I'm sure they've considered this at Obama headquarters and already nixed it. She can simply, quietly and effectively respond that Obama says he wants to reach out to people of faith on the one hand, and then unleashes attack dogs to mock her faith on the other.
Incidentally, media confusion about using broad terms like Pentecostal, evangelical and "fundamentalist" interchangeably has been very common the past several years. If they launch into this attack, it will do two other things when it gets amplified into the media megaphone: it'll get lost in the weeds as reporters try to sort out the differences between "evangelicals" and "Pentecostals" (for example) and they'll turn off the majority of faithful Christians by revealing their inept understanding of American Christians.
The fact that James Dobson and his crowd are thrilled is all most people need to know about her Christianity. Dobson and his crown may have been the target audience for Palin, but religious conservatives like Dobson scare most people outside the GOP base to death. They are tired of the culture war Dobson wages and now he's got his very own VP candidate.
People don't care if she's a Pentecostal. They care if Dobson and his ilk approve.
"including many affiliated with AG, a denomination to which my third wife belonged and with which I am very familiar -- are anxiously awaiting the Rapture and the various stages of Tribulation."
His third wife?! Sounds like a progressive Deal Hudson, at least going by the numbers. lol.
Premillenial views do sometimes surface in presidential administrations. Reagan's Secretary of the Interior cut-'em-all-down-now-because-Jesus-is-coming-in-5-years James Watt comes to mind. Nothing suggests to me, and I'm a Democrat, that Sarah Palin is of this ilk.
And even among us Obama fans, the phrase "to which my third wife belonged" puts a heavy discount on anything else Hugo Schwyzer might say. I'd never heard of him before Rod quoted him this morning, and I've been involved in the Democratic Party to the delegate level.
Virtually all the Pentecostals I've known personally are blue-collar Democrats, although there is this pastor of a gay and lesbian Pentecostal congregation in Tampa who makes a big deal of being a Log Cabin Republican (and he and I have an online conversation for prayer many Sunday mornings, me figuring if you're both gay and Republican you need all the salvation you can get). All this salivation over the attacks that can't be made on Palin, well, has little to do with anyone Democrats pay attention to.
But it does seem to reveal an attitude "Neener, neener, neener, our candidate isn't as bad as yours." That's a shame. Neither McCain nor Palin deserve this kind of support. They're better than that.
As with all the other ways of battering Governor Palin, this one will redound against the Democrats.
Those whose idea of mainstream, unthreatening theology is Whoopi Goldberg and the short, fat, bald guy from Seinfeld going "Allah Barackbar" for their would-be Last Prophet or Messiah-in-Chief will discover they have no room left to talk if they try to raise a peep about Governor Palin on religious grounds.
The worst her religious background will do is to bunch up Andrew Sullivan's knickers -- Sullivan and Golden-Calf-disciples and God-Bashers to his left theologically.
The only question is where Daniel will come down on that spectrum and how tangled his own shorts will be.
The answer to Rod's question:
I don't care.
She's not running for my pastor, she's running for political office.
I don't look to pastors for political direction and I don't look to politicians for matters of doctrine or faith.
I think this discussion is over the line. You have no business asking this, unless it is simply part of an in depth biographical bit on someone.
"As with all the other ways of battering Governor Palin, this one will redound against the Democrats."
Oh yes, she is invincible, indestructible, flawless in every way! Supercandidate! There's just nothing to legitimately dislike about her, and anyone who does is clearly just some left-wing nut who hates God and decency.
Man, and you guys thought that Obama was being held too Messianically by liberals. It must be nice to be able to now join in playing the "our candidate will save everything."
For all the dissing of dispensationalism that occurs among my like-minded paleo brethren, I cannot help but think that some of the criticism is misapplied. As I see it, it is not bad to see the world from a dispensational perspective, i.e., one that expects the rapture at any moment to take the church away from 7 years of judgment on earth before Christ comes to establish an earthly kingdom for 1,000 years. It seems to me that it is perfectly consistent to hold dispensationalism and also accept what Rod calls a sacramental view of things, i.e., that God has put Himself in this world as a painter puts himself in the paintings he paints. Thus, we ought to respect the way God made the world and not try to remake it (and God) in our image. What's inconsistent about these two things?
Yet, holding both these things has not been seen as possible. For whatever reason, paleos have been quite hostile to dispensationalist Christians for what they say is a passionate attachment to Israel. Admittedly, this has often been the case among dispensationalist Christians, but it need not be. As a paleo and a dispensationalist, I agree that Israel is God's chosen people. However, it does not follow that the US should fight Israel's wars or try to vanquish all of Israel's enemies. The last time I read the Bible, I remember reading that Christ was going to establish the kingdom, and that man could not make it come about (see Acts 1:7-8). God does not need man's help to establish His kingdom even though he will use man.
God is sovereign, not man. God is the one who rules the nations, and He channels the flow of history to where He wants it to go. Passionate attachments to Israel will never bring about any of the events God has planned for Israel or the world. Christ will come at His Father's bidding, not because unthinking dispensationalist misapply their dispensationalism to try to make Him come. He's God - not us.
Feels good to finally get this off my chest; it's bothered me for a long time.
Oh yes, she is invincible, indestructible, flawless in every way! Supercandidate! There's just nothing to legitimately dislike about her, and anyone who does is clearly just some left-wing nut who hates God and decency.
When all else fails, make up some absurd idiocy and pretend the other side said it? Wow, what a desperate move.
Man, and you guys thought that Obama was being held too Messianically by liberals. It must be nice to be able to now join in playing the "our candidate will save everything."
This is why liberals NEVER understand conservatives. We have no expectations of our candidates saving us from a blasted thing. We just want them to defeat YOU. We don't need any "saving", we can do just fine on our own. And yes, I have held that attitude when the bank balance was zero, no food in the fridge, and disconnects on the services.
I don't need a knight on a white horse to save me. I only need a canddidate which can win the election, stop your stupid activism and nanny state crapola and then get government off my back.
I'm fully capable, as are my friends, neighbors, and even the fools like yourself who don't think you are. You just don't know it yet, and you won't until you are on your own and you make it anyway.
Personally, I don’t care what kind of Christian Sarah Palin is. As long as she doesn’t seek to create the “end time war” some Christians’ desire, it doesn’t matter.
As to having Dobson’s blessings, being Wiccan, that’s a vote against her in my book, automatically.
Dobson, who lusts after the Christian Theocracy for this country and his herd, really are not concerned about the real issues we face. Dealing the oil prices and the lack thereof, unemployment, uninsured people, homeless, a deficit that’s out of sight, etc., doesn’t bring in money like abortion or gay marriage. If Dobson can’t create a panic of fear, he doesn’t bring in the bucks, which, after all, is the only thing that truly matters to him.
Rufus, I truly doubt that this will rebound against the Democrats. I think the country is tried of all the executive orders that Bush has put through, with the blessings of Dobson, and don’t want a repeat of the last 8 years. Bush has done more to destroy our Constitution than any other President in history. I believe and hope that people are tired of Dobson and his ilk trying to influence Bush when establishing executive orders that clearly are done with the sole reason of giving Christianity and better footing than other religions.
To me, a vote for McCain is a vote of approval and continuation of the last 8 years of incompetence that Bush has done. He rode in on Clinton’s coat tails when the country was economically better than before. Now at the end of his term, we are only now beginning to see the devastation that the American people will have to deal with for the next several generations. The next President, regardless of who that is, will have no choice but to raise taxes so as to pay off the incompressible debt that Bush has left us.
For either Presidential candidate to say they will not raise taxes is ridiculous, they’ll have no choice. This is one of the many presents, Bush has left the country to deal with.
Again, I really don’t care what one’s religion is. Whatever religion one professes, it will have influence in the decision-making and I understand that but it should not be done to the extent where one’s beliefs trample the rights and beliefs of other citizens, regardless if those citizens do not believe as they do.
Ah yes, the massive American Wiccan vote. I had forgotten about that one.
"I cannot think of one national-level American politician who has made millenarianism an important reference point of public policy."
How quickly they forget! Am I really the only one who remembers James Watt, Reagan's Secretary of the Interior, who said that he didn't see the point of taking care of the environment, since the Lord would be coming back any day now?
At the time, he was signing my paychecks. And all I could think was that, if I thought the landlord was coming around any time soon, I sure wouldn't throw trash all over the apartment, pull out the piping and sell it for scrap, break the windows, and burn the carpeting.
Ah yes, the massive American Wiccan vote. I had forgotten about that one.
LOL! Sadly, an ignorant one, too. Dobson has NO interest in a theocracy for anyone, and last I knew, was still quite the activist for religious freedom, not religious imposition.
Houghton,
Actually, Wicca and the other Pagan religions are growing very fast in this country. It's one of the hopes i have, that we can have a Government that seeks to care for all its citizens rather than a select few. Also, we don't seek to put our religion or beliefs over everyone else, so we can benefit at other peoples expenses, unlike Dobson and his ilk!
Sorry, the last post was addressed to Watcher.
Watcher, try googling Christian Reconstructionist.
You'll find Dobson and Robertson there.
sorry watcher but benevolent is not a word i find synonymous with either Dobson or Robertson.
Jesus loves Wiccans and Pagans, too. Please don't take his name in vain by acting otherwise.
Duh-sciple
Actually, Wicca and the other Pagan religions are growing very fast in this country.
Another indication, alas, of our decline.
David,
"Another indication, alas, of our decline."
um, no, not actually. The decline is in the conservative/evangel community. Other sects of Christiany aren't doing bad, really.
The conservative Christian Churches have always been trying to define what Christianity is and is not. I think that many of the other Christians sects are finally telling them that they do not define Christianity for them. Pagans really don't care what religion you define yourself as, as long as you're not hurting yourself or others. Paganism doesn't have any desire to control the lives or beliefs of others. we're satisfied in controlling our own lives and wish only the best for others, as they define God/the Divine. We're not the ones at war with other religions.
For the record, I do not believe -- nor does anyone else -- that Sarah Palin is indestructible, invincible, or flawless. In fact, on other threads, I've made clear more than once that I do not believe she is qualified to be president. But the Democrats -- having nominated someone to be president who is unqualified so to be, and, what is more, having bestowed upon that nominee a messianic aura of indestructibility, invincibility, and flawlessness -- having done all that, the Democrats have ushered in such a silly season in this election that they have disarmed themselves of any means of political argument by rationale means. They have had to engage in so much special pleading and so much debasement of standards to excuse away the numerous faults of their Golden Calf that they are left with no credible means of defaming a decent human being who is much more appealing to some, possible to most, than their Golden Calf -- who is turning green before their very eyes. None of this is to say that the GC will not be our next POTUS. Heaven help us, but he probably still will. But what the reaction to Sarah Palin shows is that there will be resistance and that, even if he wins, the GC will be a stump-broke steer before too long.
For those claiming James Watt is some sort of nut, please look at this link.
http://powerlineblog.com/archives/009475.php
He never made such a statement. Bill Moyer's who made the claim based on someone's book ended up apologizing to Watt.
WSJ had her listed as a Lutheran.
She is Assemblies of God. She goes to Juneau Christian Center:

Hey Watcher, thanks for the vote of confidence that I can make it on my own! I've been doing fairly well the last 45 years or so, so God willing that winning streak keeps up.
But I'd be interested in hearing you deliver that little tirade, along with the "fool" commentary, to the good people of New Orleans in a just a few days, when Gustav hits. As the city fills with water, building collapse, etc. remind them all how they can "make it on their own". How no one needs to save them. Hell, let's get all the first responders out of the city now, since they don't need any help! By God, American independent spirit and willpower will carry the day!
Everyone needs help. Everyone needs other people. We need competent government. I don't think Obama is particularly competent to be President. He was by no means my first, or even second choice. I don't think McCain is competent either. And I don't think this women has the experience either. Hell, out of all of them, I'd feel the best about Biden, and that's not saying a lot.
Palin is the worst pandering this country has ever witnessed, bar none. She wasn't announced until AFTER the DNC, with good reason. McCain was hoping for a Clinton-supporter meltdown, with PUMAs refusing to back Obama. It didn't come. He realized that without those voters, and with lackluster evangelical support, he was screwed. And so he performed one of the most audacious punts in Presidential history, pandering wildly to the evangelical/pro-life vote (which he despised for most of his career), and hoping against hope that Clinton voters would vote their vagina rather than their values. And it may work. It had a certain brilliance to it, and certainly lacked nothing for boldness. But it demonstrates the incredibly poor judgment of the man, selecting a candidate for a national ticket who just doesn't possess the necessary qualifications and experience, because nothing matters more to him than winning.
Of course, Obama is hardly better. Frankly, the whole mess is horribly depressing. I hope to God that whoever gets elected rises far beyond reasonable expectations of themselves and truly makes a difference. At this point, the bar could hardly be set lower.
Born on 2-11 the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, nominated in 2008 the 150th Anniversary of the Apparitions in that Langedoc region of France, where secularism was so rampant even the priest collaborated with the authorities to intimidate the faithful from hearing the message of repentance... I wonder if the Lord has more surprises in store for her (and us)?
Hey Watcher, thanks for the vote of confidence that I can make it on my own! I've been doing fairly well the last 45 years or so, so God willing that winning streak keeps up.
Good for you. I hope you always make it well in life.
But I'd be interested in hearing you deliver that little tirade, along with the "fool" commentary, to the good people of New Orleans in a just a few days, when Gustav hits.
I'd be MORE than happy to. My first commentary would be... GET READY NOW AND GET OUT. Don't wait for someone else to take care of you.
Don't sit on your bumpus waiting for someone else to fix your boo-boos. If your life in NOLA is wiped out, START OVER. Get up off your bumpus and get to work at something. Move somewhere. Find a new life. It doesn't matter how bad things get wiped out, YOU CAN GET BACK ON YOUR FEET!
As the city fills with water, building collapse, etc. remind them all how they can "make it on their own". How no one needs to save them. Hell, let's get all the first responders out of the city now, since they don't need any help! By God, American independent spirit and willpower will carry the day!
Actually, the kind of person I am, I would be the first ones there to get stuff done. And no, I don't need some kind of federal direction and sponsorship and taxes and handouts. The people of NOLA themselves can accomplish any dang thing they set their minds to, if they stop waiting for someone else to do it.
Frankly, NOLA has almost everything it needs to deal with the immediate problems. DC isn't needed. Should the aftermath be more than NOLA can handle, there's their own national guard, for instance.
The fact is, LA is a cesspool of leaderlessness. The fact that ANYONE would be so foolish as to declare the fault of what happened DC's is dumb. Even the upgrades to the barriers was offered and not done, all at the local level's behest.
Unlike you, I read extensively on the causes and what was and was not done pre-Katrina, and the fault lies in 20 years of local failure. Let's see if anyone there has learned anything. If so, it won't be a repeat of last time. If not, we're going to see the same thing again, and if that's the case, it is NOT the fault of FEMA or Washington, but of the people of NOLA themselves!
Duh-sciple,
Jesus loved and loves everybody, "through Him to reconcile all things to Himself." But that doesn't mean we can't joke about things. A little humor to lighten things up. Ron could have simply laughed at what was clearly a one-off joke. Instead, his response reveals a certain prickliness. As I noted on an earlier thread, Jesus used sarcasm. Nothing wrong with it to make a point. I am not a quietist.
It amazes me that all these commentators can figure out her faith in a day. It's even more amazing that all these conservatives on this blog can somehow attest to her character. I'd guess that 95%+ of the folks on this thread and all the other Crunchy Con threads had never even heard of her before yesterday. Does she have an autobiography out or did God tell you all about her directly? Sadly I think most Republicans just parrot FOX news and their party's talking points.
It's actually quite scary that all these folks are so sure that she's a great pick. She has yet to be vetted... and yes, she will be vetted. All the media outlets I've watched and researched on the internet have a lot of questions. Maybe FOX news doesn't.
Seeing that NBC & CNN have both reported from their talks with the official McCain campaign that he basically met her once before he made his mind up, he's taking one heck of a risk with your party.
Seems this is a very risky year, and McC jumped into the water with his suit on and wallet in his pocket. He really didn't have any other choice. At least the top of the Republican ticket is a known quantity, which we still can't say about Oback Barama.
Funny that people say Palin must be "vetted" - who "vetted" Oback Barama before he started running for Prez? Apparently nobody, especially not the mainstream-media, or they wouldn't been so shocked - shocked - to discover his associations with an inflammatory preacher and a former treasonous and unrepentant, homegrown terrorist. (And for all his talk about brotherhood and helping people, why is it he's never done a thing for his half-brother, living in filth and abject poverty in Kenya? Why not extend the American Dream to his own flesh-and-blood?)
Why all the sudden fussing over Palin, then? All this sudden harrumpphing by the "gatekeepers" is hilarious, as is the testicular brazenness of some to say we should be frightened that the "inexperienced" Palin would be "a heartbeat away from the presidency" if elected. Don't dare look in the mirror, guys!
Oh, this is going to be so much fun. McCain, a real man running for president, and Palin's husband a real man who's roughnecked oil rigs, fished on a trawler in the open ocean off Alaska, and is the four-time winner of the world's longest snowmobile race! Between Nobama and Bidden, can you find one callous on their four hands? And Sarah is a hunter, herself, and jogs outside when it's 20 below zero!
It's about time there were some real people - not just millionaires and elitists - running for the top elected offices. Andrew Jackson would be delighted.
don,
You know what you do about Obama because he's been vetted.
You say,"Sarah is a hunter, herself, and jogs outside when it's 20 below zero!" That's all you say. You're not mentioning anything she's handled in Alaska. These activities don't qualify her to deal with foreign governments. In fact she was quoted on CNN and MSNBC as saying, "I don't understand Iraq."
You also say, "It's about time there were some real people - not just millionaires and elitists - running for the top elected offices." McCain is an elite millionaire.
Seeing Republicans get giddy over this lady when their argument against Obama has been lack of experience makes me think you're all an easy lot to control. Either that, or you're the dumbest group of people on the planet.
Bill Burton, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, had this to say about small town mayor Sarah Palin.
"John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," he said.
Senator Obama in his own words about a large town mayor.
“I want to a, I want to first of all acknowledge your great mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, who has been on the front lines, has been on the front lines doing an outstanding job of gathering together the leadership at every level in Detroit to bring about the kind of renascence that all of us anticipate for this great city and he is leader not just here in Detroit not just in Michigan but all across the country people look to him we know that his is going to do astounding things for many years to come. I am grateful to call him a friend a colleague and I am looking forward to a lengthy collaboration in terms of making sure that Detroit does well in the future”
Funny, if it is a small town mayor no good - but a corrupt lying large town mayor is a friend and doing great things. I wonder whose judgment is really lacking.
Seeing Republicans get giddy over this lady when their argument against Obama has been lack of experience makes me think you're all an easy lot to control. Either that, or you're the dumbest group of people on the planet.
Charming. Well, don't confuse me with a Republican (I'm not even an American), but there is firstly a great difference between the excitement pro-lifers must feel with such a pro-life person as Palin running for VP and the Obama-worship we've been witnessing these many, long months.
Also, Palin's relative lack of experience seems to be less of a problem than Obama's because he is running for President and she is running only for VP.
The major problem with Obama is his love of all things abortion.
Oh Brian. I've got to ask why you are worrying about a VP'picks experience at foreign affairs but (I assume) would be willing to vote for a presidential candidate who, as experience, can only site state legislative experience (in an unquestionably corrupt state that makes me glad to be a former resident of Illinois)and part of a term as a senator. Democrats nominated this guy for president and then worry that Palin doesn't have ernough experience? Hey, at least if McCain doesnt die in the first month she can get incredible apprentice type experience while Barak will just have to sink or, if all the planets are lined up just right, maybe he will manage to tread water while he learns what he's doing. I'm not in any way happy with the republicans who squandered every opportunity they've had, but the democrats lately have been nothing but a sideshow atraction. It'd be funny if the problems facing the Nation weren't so scary and the best the democrats could do is a first term senator who seems to think change for its own ls/ake must automatically be a good thing. What happened to the party of JFK anyway? Heck, even McCain is more liberal than JFK was. The reason the republican base is so happy is they hope that Palin will slow down McCains tendency to pander to the left. I'm not hopefull. I don't think either party is actually willing to deal with the countrys problems as long as they don't come crashing down before they get their pentions and lobbying deals.
Well, I've got that rant off my chest finally. I'm not sure it helped my stress level at all but its bed time so I'm going away now.
"It's even more amazing that all these conservatives on this blog can somehow attest to her character. I'd guess that 95%+ of the folks on this thread and all the other Crunchy Con threads had never even heard of her before yesterday." Brian
I knew of her months ago and told people about her. She was mentioned on this blog on April 22. If you don't want to go to the archives the following is the link.

Just because some folks think the coming of Jesus is near does not mean that they are in any way able to hasten that event. Jesus told us to, "Occupy until I come", and if we are faithful servants we will do just that. Doing what we can to "make disciples of all men" and obeying other mandates of our Lord. Even so, "come quickly, Lord Jesus".
hey Rod ~ the "end times" actually ushers in our Saving Lord! It's not a time to worry and fret, but to welcome and be joyful of! That is unless you have doubt about the whole God thing entirely...then it might seem completely scary as hell. The events leading up to the "end times" are God's promises fulfilled. Our merciful God is sending out numerous calling cards, if you will, and continues to graciously save for seven years even after He raptures the church! It's going to be the greatest single historical event in history. Read more about it at prophecyupdate.com.
In regards to Mrs. Palin, end times nut or not, this lady seems to know how to work hard and not let the "man" push her around. I just read that Sarah is actually suing the government in Alaska over the listing of polar bears on the ESA. There's a great opinion article she wrote last January in the NY Times. Be sure and check it out.
The question is: how would Sarah Palin govern as VP?
Two things impress me: (besides the 20 degree jogs - dang!)
1. She believes in a God who holds her accountable.
2. She believes in tapping into the rich renewable resources our country has to offer!
She's got my vote - the problem is, I'd really rather not vote for McCain :-|
Still stuck in voter limbo!
What kind of Christian is Sarah Palin? Who cares? Was the constitutional prohibition of religious qualification for office revoked while I was not looking? Here is what DOES matter:
Sarah Palin does NOT represent change; she represents a continuation of the Bush criterion for public office: ideology trumps competence. She is NOT qualified to be the president of the United States (look at how marvelously God's own candidate, George Bush performed -- sorry, I don't want more of the same). That means McCain chose her to win votes, not to be able to take over if needed. That is called Selling Out Your Country For Short-Term Political Advantage -- and that is another continuation of Bush-league politics.
Assuming she is not a flat-out liar, she is inexcusably ignorant about science in equating evolution and creationism/ID as co-equal scientific theories that should both be taught in the schools. Evolution is a scientific theory (an evidence-based model that is not refuted by contradictory evidence). Creationism/ID is not any kind of theory and not even a hypothesis (a plausible model currently lacking evidence to support it, but for which it is at least possible to obtain evidence); rather, it is a speculation or conjecture (a made-up notion for which there is no evidence and no conceivable possibility of ever obtaining any evidence). If Gov. Palin honestly does not understand this, I have to wonder where she has been for the past generation or so, and why rational people would even consider entrusting the leadership of the nation to her.
This is important because McCain is so old--there is a great chance she will be President.
I don't think she is any kind of a christian. A christian would not giggle if someone called another person a b*** and a cancer on Alaska. I was appalled to hear this clip where Sara Palin laughs when a talk radio announcer calls one of her political rivals "a b**** and a cancer". The woman referred to is a cancer survivor.
This is not a woman living in lovingkindness to others.
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=sara+palin+bitch+cancer&hl=en&emb=0#
I would want to ask Palin just one single question: are you happy with your choice to go to term with her pregnancy?
GOVERNOR PALIN'S KNOWLLEDGE OF AMERICA'S AND ISRAEL'S ROLE IN THESE LAST DAYS INFORMS HER POWERFUL GRASP OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS THAT ENABLE HER TO DEMOLISH JOE BIDEN IN ANY DEBATE!!!!
UNLIKE JOE BIDEN, GOVERNOR PALIN HAD THE INTELLEGENCE AND COURAGE TO ESCAPE FROM THE ROMAN CATHOLIC SYSTEM!!!!!
THE ROMAN POPE HAS BEEN EXPOSED AS AN AGENT OF PIAPS!!!!!
Governor Palin's spiritual beliefs will no doubt be put under a microscope by the liberal media. However, what really SHOULD concern the average American is that Senator Obama (who IS running for President) has no clue as to when life begins. This should be a strong indication that he's not intelligent enough to even be considered for the Presidency. Personally, I'm glad that McCain put the brakes on the "Obama Train". (This country was acting like a bunch of love sick teenagers at a Jonas Brother's concert. We're trying to elect a President, here, not vote for People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive".) Remember how Obama "performed" during the Rick Warren interview? Without a teleprompter, Obama is lost and floundering and lacks any substance. He has less experience than Governor Palin. Just because he's male does not make him a better candidate for President. Besides, everyone is acting as though John McCain is dead. Remember, Governor Palin is NOT running for President and if Governor Palin was a male I can guarantee you that very few comments would be made about a lack of experience.
I don't care about Palin's beliefs -- but I do care that she wants creationism taught in the schools as if it were science. I don't care about her family, including her pregnant 17-year-old daughter -- but I do care about the fact that the religious right has rushed protectively around the girl, praising her for not choosing to have an abortion, when we all know that they would be drooling with delight at the prospect of ridiculing a Democrat whose teenage daughter became pregnant.
Ultimately, this is not about Palin. It is about John McCain. If he seriously believes that Palin is qualified to be the commander-in-chief, then he is delusional. If he doesn't, then he is a hypocrite. I am willing to entertain either possibility.
There is nothing in Palin's public or private life that suggests she is an extremists on any matter including her religious beliefs. She has conservative beliefs just like many americans. It's that simple. Nothing unusual.
We can, however, surmise from Obama's 20 year membership in Rev. Wright's church what Obama's religious beliefs are. "Not God bless America, God #### America". This is supported by Obama's very friendly relationship with Williams Ayers who bombed the Pentagon and Poice Stations and sorry he did't do more of it.
Really! Now having conservative views is equated with believing in creationism? I would assume that most or all creationists are conservative; I would be appalled to learn that most or all conservatives believe in creationism.
I am pleasantly pleased with McCain's choice for a running mate. It's about time this country got back to it's grass roots beliefs in God. After all, this country was founded on our belief in freedom of worship and in God.
Besides all that, both Sen. McCain as well as Gov. Palin have proven their support of our country. They have a long history of military service to our support our freedom and our troops.
Where is Obama's support for the troops????????? When and where did he serve????????? And according to everything I have read on him, he can't even prove he's an American citizen. What does that say about him.
Joyce W..... I'm not an Obama supporter but I have to point out a faulty argument when I see one...........
When and where did George Bush serve? And the "myth" about Obama's citizenship has long ago been debunked.
Don't be such a tool of silly email forwards.
I think we ought to leave the families of either party alone and talk about the things that matter, such as the economy, security and whats going to change when either Mccain or Obama become president. All the garbage floating around about there families reminds me of grade school. So far just attacking the families, is all we are hearing. What are the changes that are going to take place when all is said and done to make things work for are nation because this isnt grade school and there is a lot at stake, life will move on for everyone and attacking the families will no longer be a issue.. we will need this country to be run and run success fully. Get a grip and grow up people.
I am so excited about Sara Palin!!! We need her in the white house and we need John McCain....They will turn this country around!!! and they also need to leave her daughter out of this....She is a child...and she is not runnin' for a run in the white house...God help these people who are so judgmental!
I am a strong advocate of women in government, although I was not a Hillary Clinton surporter, I was very proud of her and the campaign she ran. But sarah palin has a family in crisis, what more can happen to a family before the mom says that she will put her political ambitions aside and take care of her family, with a special needs infant, a pregnant teenager and a son going off to war. How ultimately selfish. Does she really believe in what her faith teaches her. I think she should be ashamed of herself. She should graciously decline as a candidate
Palin had a high risk procedure during her pregnancy that she didn't have to have and that could've caused a miscarriage. Then she got the results stating her child has Down syndrome and then took two full days before she told her husband the result. Then she gave birth and left her sick infant two days after he was born to go back to work. And now she is parading her troubled family through politics, even though what her daughter really needs is her mother's time and attention, and privacy from the public to work out her issues.
So what kind of Christian is Palin???? You tell me.
I was in love with Sarah Palin and her values taht I share. Most of all I admired her not having an abortion and raising a mentally handicapped baby. And I still greatly admire that.
However in an effort to disprove to a friend and to myself the story about her baby really belonging to her daughter, I started reading not the Internet rumor mills, but other legitimate sources including Alaskan papers. Now I am deeply concerned and have grave doubts about Ms. Palin's honesty in this matter.
After reading legitimate news sources, I am convinced that she has created a long and involved effort to cover up her daughter's pregnancy by saying it was her own. On one plane this is somewhat understandable. People used to do this all the time when I was growing up. But those women were very quiet about what they did. they didn't expose their families including minor children to the light of public scrutiny by accepting a national nomination. I am distressed about the apparent deceit and I am distressed for what this is doing to her family.
At the time she announced her pregnancy--when she was supposed to be seven months along, even though it was her fifth baby, no one--not even her closest staff--had even suspected she was pregnant. (see the Anchorage News article below)
Then her water allegedly broke in Texas when she was at a conference. She never went to the doctor there even though, if she were being honest about the due date, she was a month early with a Downs infant. She stayed and gave the keynote speech and flew 12 hours home without consulting medical opinion or informing the airlines that she was in labor.
Furthermore she was back at work three days later even though the baby was premature and had Downs syndrome.
I have now seen pictures of her when she was 6 months' pregnant and it just doesn't seem remotely possible. I have had four children myself. I believe that Bristol's current pregnancy is either false and will be announced as a miscarriage soon, or that if she is pregnant, she is only 3-4 months' along not the 5 months that would disprove her as mother of a 4-month old baby.
Here's the article from the "Anchorage Daily News" By Wesley Loy from March 6th, 2008. The baby was born April 18. Remember at that time no one was rumoring that her daughter was the real mother:
"JUNEAU -- Gov. Sarah Palin shocked and awed just about everybody around the Capitol on Wednesday when she announced she's expecting her fifth child.
The governor, who recently turned 44, told a handful of reporters as she was leaving work to expect a new member of the first family, then headed to a reception at the Baranof Hotel to feast on king crab.
Palin said she's already about seven months along, with the baby due to arrive in mid-May.
That the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard the news. The governor, a runner who's always been trim, simply doesn't look pregnant.
Even close members of her staff said they only learned this week their boss was expecting.
'I thought it was becoming obvious,' Palin said. 'You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger.' But people just couldn't believe the news."
Lisa: Just so you know, Bush was an active member of the Texas Air National Guard from 1968-1972 and logged over 330 flight hours as a F-102 pilot. If you check out the web, you can find out all about his military service. Maybe he didn't go to Vietnam, but he did serve. Which is more than Obama ever did.
The most likely cause for Sarah Palins bizarre and contradictory views-
(loves hunting and killing animals, shooting weapons, "Control" freak, anti-abortion, revenge seeker and yet supposedly a evangelical full of Christian faith) would be what was suggested. She has a bi-polar brain. She is as you put it, "Nuts". I have watched her on the election events and she displays fervor, irrationality, broad appeals to values without explanation, and frenetic hugging with a put on mask-like expression. An elderly man like McCain does not have the scientific background to understand the function of chemical imbalance of the brain. He is taken in, completely, as a matter of faith.
She is literally metally ill. This doesn't mean she can't be decisive, scheming, goal oriented or even pleasantly effusive. She can also display seemingly normal emotions. As her brains chemicals switch on and off she has learned to cover, feign illness, lie, and fabricate plausible fictions to explain her emotional reactions. I have personally worked with people in my life who are bi-polar, manic-depressive, schizophrenic, and compulsive and I have seen them under prescribed medication and no medication. At first they can be charming and fun, but with time and getting to know them it is possible to see when they neglect to take their medication or cannot cope with stress. Sometime dramatically so! Sarah's own husband was quoted saying, "Sarah's mind is not wired like most people". What an understatement!
As a Vice-President Sarah would be a disaster for our nation.
I am a taxpayer, voter and a citizen of the United States. I believe that I have a right to ask questions about Sarah Palin's belief in end time theology, and if she bases her foreign policy primarily on the teachings of her church. Who will be the higher authority when making decisions, God or the constitution. If her faith trumps the constitution, then we have a right to know that.
If Sarah Palin becomes commander in chief, and a crisis erupts in the Middle East, will her end time theology influence her actions on behalf of the United States?
I am a Catholic (and I understand that Gov. Palin's church does not recognize us as Christians). My faith tradition is different from yours. If she institutes a nuclear strike in the Middle East to hasten the "end time", it is my children, and millions of others who do not share your faith, but are citizens of the US, who will suffer the consequences of a nuclear war.
You say I should just relax and not worry. That's not very comforting to me. Why can't she have a press conference and answer these and other questions? If she can't stand the heat of the free press, then she should get out of the race. Why is she unwilling to answer questions? What is she afraid of?
I am not looking to start an argument, and I haven't called anyone any names; I would just appreciate answers to my questions, and not just being called names.

Am I the only person who is uncomfortable with the phrase, "America first," or "Country first?" It seems the entire witness of the Law, the Prophets, the Wisdom Tradition, and culminating in life and words of Jesus make clear that GOD is FIRST, nothing else, ever. It seems to me that it was those who cried, "Rome, first," who crucified Jesus. I'm sure that Governor Palin believes that God is on the side of wars and bridges and all manner of things with all her heart, but I would simply hope that voters (and believers) might add a touch of humility, biblical honesty, and theology to their beliefs.

I just don't trust her. I can't really place it...maybe it's because she reminds me of a girl a dated that keyed my car over an episode of 'sex in the city'...no joke folks... She just seems fake to me...in a word association..palin would get silicone.
Actully is should be Family First. Ms. Palin either chose to have her fifth child, or chose to raise the child of her child - it really does not matter. She choose to take on the responsibility of raising a disabled child. This is not an easy task - I can attest to this. You do not just throw that child asside for your own agenda - how christian is that? She is the wrong choice and has made the wrong choice in not putting this baby and her FAMILY FIRST!!!
It's just not an option anymore. Americans have to educate themselves on where Jefferson and Madison stood on the intrusion of the " priestcraft " into civil politics. The " establishment clause " is unequivical. Article six is unequivical. The constitution is being demolished by the Palins, McCains, Bushes and their megachurch pastors. For God's sake read the letters and statements of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The ruination of democracy is inevitable if religious bigots continue to smash at their precious " wall of seperation."

Face it. Anyone who believes the earth is only 6,000 years old needs to pull their head out of the sand. Jeez. Religious right has ruined our country. Thanks.
I too am uncomfortable with Sarah Palin. I think the 'base' might like her but those of us mainstream centrists find her condescending, cloaked in mystery and if you add in my vehement opposition to her aerial hunting despite a federal ban and the 150.00 a wolf leg bounty PLUS trying to keep Polar Bears off the endangered species list she's downright reprehensible.
I am a Messianic-Jew who believes in the Bible and Jesus Christ.
John McCain will continue the failed Bush Policies.
Sarah Palin is an extremist.
Sarah Palin is wrong for America.
Sarah Palin is out there.
Sarah Palin is ANTI-WOMEN
Barack Obama will be our next President.
Get the word out to friends, family, co-workers to vote for Barack Obama.
I think Sarah Palin is a woman who we could all use as an example of what a woman and an American should be today. She doesn't worry about being "politically correct" or telling the truth. The Bible says that in the end of times, the world will be as it was in the day of Noah. Everyone was corrupt and wanted to "justify" their sin, and lack of morals. Nobody wanted to believe that this crazy man saying the world was going to end because of some rain ( which by the way they had never seen) was true. However, sure enough it did! I'm telling you people as a true believer in Jesus Christ, not religion or some radical group. That the day is near. Jesus said "he is even at the door" Whether you believe that or not is between you and God, but know this. Gov. Palin is what this country needs and stands up for what we were based on, and have fought for time after time in history. To not be able to see the battle of good and evil during this election, shows nothing other than ignorance. People are so desperate to have everything and every right handed to them. And for someone to stand up and actually lead this country, that they would vote Hitler in if his campaigning motto was "Change". I'm not trying to be one of those religious nuts, that say everyone is going to hell, beware, especially if you’re a democrat..lol. But if you’re by chance reading this and if it has at all struck a chord with you. Realize that God loves you and there is no greater experience in this world, than to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Please vote smart and think about voting with some morals, and integrity. Try to help make this country great again, by letting the one who created it in the first place regain his control...GOD. And know that there is only one way to get into heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. If you would like to know what real peace is and what Gov Palin believes in. Just pray a simple prayer asking God to forgive you of your sins ( remember there is no sin that is too great to ask for forgiveness) and ask for Jesus Christ to come into your heart and be your personal savior! If you pray that, no that you were the one who listened to Noah when no one else would. God bless you, God bless America, and God bless Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin.
Sara Palin gives a "BAD NAME" to the Christian religion and the truth, another puppet for the New World Order. Oh and by the way Hollie you need to wake up, your reading the Bible the wrong way.
Rick Hernandez,
What do you call biblical truth? Just curious...
I love Sarah Palin. She embodies authentic Christian feminism--she embraces life and is both strong and gentle. Her qualifications are excellent as she has governed a large state. In fact, I would say her qualifications are much stronger than the Democratic PRESIDENTIAL candidate.
Our country was founded by individuals of deep Christian faith. They didn't bicker over nuances, but rather respected one another's beliefs as being a natural part of democracy and the flavor of freedom. I respect Governor Palin's beliefs, and believe America needs someone of her moral and ethical character to be second-in-command of our nation.
What is biblical truth?
The Truth is for you to seek.
Read your bible.
Start with the book of John.
Before reading sincerely ASK GOD TO REVEAL THE TRUTH.
If you sincerely seek God, God says you will find him.
Are you willing to really know the Truth?
I encourage you to sincerely SEEK GOD (Jesus)
Start with Asking God to reveal himself to you. Then read the book of John.
God Bless
God Bless Israel.
God Bless America
God Bless you.

Jesus believed in social justice, compassion, and generosity! Sarah Palin presents none of these qualities: young women raped and impregnated by a predatory male whether adult or adolescent SHOULD NOT be forced to carry that child. Put yourself in those shoes. That is an injustice. Moreover, Palin cut funding so that teen moms could seek affordable housing. So not only does she want to force these young girls to have children even in times of rape and incest, she tears away what little hope they have of realizing their own potential both as women and as human beings by having a safe and nurturing environment to reside in. Every human has the right to a sense of personal security. She is absolutely, in no shape or form, a Christian. She is absolutely in every shape and form, a hypocrite. Wake up! And see it for what it is!

As an evangelical Christian woman, I do not want to be represented by Palin. I do not support her. She is too inexperienced for the job of VP, and to poentially have her so close to the presidency itself is frightening. We need to have higher standards. Just claiming to be a Christian shouldn't be enough to win our votes. She has proven ignorance on many politcal issues in recent interviews. There are many more issues that should be important to American Christians than just abortion.
Sarah Palin claims she is pro-life. Yet she will “not blink” to sacrifice millions of American lives in a nuclear war with Russia. She is not a Christian, she is a simple-minded religion obscurantist – opposed to science, to environment and animal protection, to women’s rights, and so on. McCain and Palin are more dangerous than Bush. McCain wants more wars because he has no idea how to be a peace time president. And Palin is a perfect companion for him. WAR IS NOT PRO-LIFE.
I myself am a white woman, late 40s, and a believer in Christ. But all this does not mean I support the McCain/Palin ticket. Palin does not speak for all women-real women have integrity! She is arrogant, proud, vain, boastful and deceitful. She lies over and over to cover up more lies! How can she live with herself?
She is not for womens rights, not for the needs of the handicapped, she thinks nothing of shooting wolves, and other animals which are also Gods creatures.
She is a total hypocrite! It sickens me how CBN and many other so-called Christian organizations support her. We are to be as the Bereans-compare what they say to scripture. Nothing what Palin says or stands for is one who has the mindset of Christ.
If this is how naive some Christians are - to be hoodwinked by Palin, imagine when the Antichrist is revealed! People-we are to have discernment! Not go along with anyone who claims they're Prolife.
There are many other issues we have wrong in this country that need to be addressed.
To the person talking about this woman wants these girls and women to have babies who've been raped and so on... Although, none of us want to or agree with rape or would want a baby through that matter. Jesus would NOT want us to throw away that child nor kill it or forget about it. See, the child is still a child whether you've been raped or not. It's not the child who raped you, why destroy this child for something that happened from another person? Why, does this child deserve to be treated like this? It's inhumane. Yes, there will always be that thought of how to which that baby was conceived and the pain from what happened might haunt you. Life goes on and we all have to go through trials and learn from things as we go. For those who dare to throw away a child from rape or from just being too young and had one or didnt have the money or dont wanna take care of it. For the latter, who's fault really was it to have gone out and got pregnant? Not the baby's. SHould have thought on it before before you decided to do that kind of thing. For the victims, I Am truly sorry for what had happened. No, I havent been raped and had a baby but I have been forcefully touched in bad ways as a young kid and ya it still effects me and I hope nobody has to go through anythign liek that...but YOU rly need to open your eyes for the top poster...Don't destroy a child, for somethign its not at fault for. That's murder and we ALL know that. We have placed in ourselves right and wrong..We KNOW when we do something wrong..it eats at us...even the ones who try to fight against it
Tasha: I'm sorry for your painful past. Been down that road. If you read your Bible carefully however, you will read in 2Sam 12:15-25 that GOD Himself, did not allow David and Bathsheba's first son to be born, because of all the sin (adultery/murder) associated with his birth. Also, God tells us in Leviticus that father's should not lay with their children, or mix the blood (causes deformity). God said He knows when we will be born and when we will die (babies included), because He is the Creator of life. Also, God gives Discernment. I hope that you pray and receive the wisdom needed for discernment, because neither Sarah Palin nor John McCain are Christians. Jesus said "beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits." (Mat7:15-16) The fruit of arrogance, selfishness, greed, hypocrisy, etc. stink horribly, all of which are possessed and spewed by McCain and Palin!!! I pray for them daily that they will truly repent and be the Christians they claim to be. (Ironic that they are also the Republicans they claim they are not)!!!!
If you call your self a christian..... regardless of how you feel about Sarah Palin... you have NO BUSINESS voting for Barrak Obama! You need to check your morals! How could you vote for a ticket that is in the business for legalizing infanticide, abortion... that is murder. Needless to say all the other things Obama stands for. You think John McCain and Palin are false prophets.... WHAT ABOUT BARRAK OBAMA. God save us and have mercy on us. In this case you MUST vote for the less of two evils. I am not "hookwinked". We all have our faults... that is what makes us human. In this case please don't get caught up on issues like she killed a moose, oh no... but how about Barrak Obama.... voting for legalizing abortion and letting babies die once born at 40 weeks (or early) by not giving them medical treatment! THAT is MURDER! There is a difference between a moose and baby. God said, you make eat meat.... moose is meat. God said do not kill. Abortion is murder. On this issue you alone, as a christian, you CANNOT in good conscience (I would pray) vote for Barrak Obama and Joe Biden (not voting is just as bad!)
As a Christian myself, I don't look up to Sarah Palin at all.
Re: William Ayers -As the record shows, there have been many Ayers associations including Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. Walter Annenberg was a former ambassador who was appointed by Presidents Nixon and Reagan. Annenberg had William Ayers on his team during his appointments with both presidents. I don't feel that there is any danger there.
It appears that Sarah Palin's staged comments on the Ayers issue are irresponsible and inflammatory. Some people at her recent rallies have vocally expressed extreme ill-will toward others. Palin has not come out and said anything at all to sooth that situation. Knowing that she has encouraged situations that could be associated with the awful consequences of other's behavior, I don't believe that Palin is a good example for me as a Christian.
It seems like God is letting us stew for a while in our man-made messes down here.
As a conservative Christian, what angers me about Sara Palin and the conservative christians who are supporting her is that noone is challenging her regarding why she isn't focusing more on devoting time toraising her young children rather than running for Vice-president. If we believe, as I have been taught thru the years as an evangelical conservative christian woman that a woman's place should be in the home if she has young children, shoud we not be encouraging Mrs. Palin tofocus more on raising her children, particularly since she has one withpsecial needs, rather than running for an office that will take a lot of her time away from her children. As Christians, I beleive we need to step up more to the plate during these last two months of the election process and challenge Sarah Palin to really think about what will happen to her children if she becomes Vice-President of these Unites States?
That's my opinion,
Jeaninne Stokes
As a Bible-believing pro-life Christian, I am scared to death of Sarah Palin. I see her as representing the worst kind of person who hangs around under the Christian banner, yet who seem to need someone to hate and villify. All those evangelicals who say they will vote for her because of her pro-life stance are probably the same ones who voted for Bush - another evangelical prolifer who more or less left the abortion laws intact. Palin would not and could not overturn the abortion laws either. What also scares me about her is the kind of "basest of the base" she is attracting to her rallies. Why would she appeal to such lowlifes? At least Obama is a loyal family man who clearly loves his wife and seems to offer a real message of unity and healing to this broken country.
You all are worried about this candidate or that candidate. It doesn't matter which candidate is elected, God's will is going to be completed either way. Why are you surprised at the greed, lies, and abominations? All these things were predicted by the prophets long ago. Just pray without ceasing for yourselves and your family, this world is destined for destruction, however, the Lord is delaying his coming so that man has time to repent. Just be glad that you live in the Nation that you do, because 96 percent of the world's population doesn't have that liberty.
Hey... I think its important to vote for the person who reflects God's laws the best. And to you AGAPE, I say that just because Bush claimed to be a evangelical and ran for office and didn't do many things of God doesn't mean Sarah Palin won't do her best as a Christian to change this nation. She isn't Bush. Also, It has been prophesied to the nations by major prophets appointed by God that the future leader of this nation will have an adviser that will change the nation. I believe those two people are McCain and Palin. (Check out Prophesy for the Head of the Year.) Now... prophesy is something you pray on because it can be nullified if we do not pray on it. It's our job to go to war in the spiritual realm so we can make a difference in the physical realm. Pray to fulfill the prophesy. So if we aren't doing our part in both realms we are only doing half or none of our jobs. So I say to you Dude Man, that yes God can work no matter who's in office however... its not a bad thing to do your best to prevent what might cause the people of this nation to turn from God. We always believe and pray for the best. We always have faith that God will deliver this country from the evils of worldy things.
as a mother i need to have you show me an example of sarah pallin caring for her children
(because it still seems to me like brittany is trig's mother-watch the gop convention tapes-brittany monitors that baby the way any first time mother would)
as a nurse i need to have you show me an exaple of sarah pallin caring for others
(she appears horrifically self absorbed, cannot find one exampl eof self-sacrifice)
as a christian i need you to show me an example of sarah pallin showing comapssion or forgivness-for anything-why is she so angry-we forgive her for her blunders-why not demonstrate caring for others as a christian whatever demonation will accept her
While it's true there is some sort of connection between Palin and Christianity, it's ALSO true there is a connection between the Palin's and the Alaskan Independence Party. The AIP strives to disconnect from America and abandon any sort of governmental influence upon their state. Somehow I don't see that as religious. It's also true Gov. Palin supports aerial animal kills which is beyond animal cruelty I've ever witnessed. Also true is she abused her power of office to fire an employee, which us honest folks just shudder to think of as future precedence. And last but not least, it's reported her governor race was financed by questionable influences. As a republican, I love our freedom, our military excellence, and our protection of our land and animals, and yes even support anti-abortion except in cases of rape. HOWEVER, I can't support Palin and in good conscious could never vote for a ticket she's on. It took me a week to sleep again once I watched the video of aerial kills in her state (that she makes money from) on the defenders of wildlife site. Then to read the folks there are under investigation for shooting 14 pups in the head....yikes. So let us be prudent to report ALL side stories of candidates, even their not so good ones and their religious practices. There is a reason for separation of state and church my friends. Being filled with the Holy Spirit didn't make me change my mind on that one. We just don't want to end up like so many other countries and begin fighting each other in the name of religion. A true christian strives to bring folks together, not divide - Palin has shown she is an instigator of division already. Can you imagine how it would be with her in the second highest office?
I believe that it is very dangerous to advertise any of the candidates as prophets, especially if they have done nothing to show that they are true ambassadors of Christ. The Bible tells us to test all spirits. How do we do that?? One way we can do that is by looking at their fruits. On one end, John McCain is a man who is very uncomfortable even saying the name Jesus Christ(The very name any true prophet would easily be able to proclaim)1 Corinthians 12:3 "Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit". Sarah Palin has offended God by slandering her brother, who has confessed with his mouth that Jesus is his Lord and Savior. The same savior that they, you and I share. In that we should honor eachother because the Lord says "what you do unto others you do unto me". Their campaign has been one of hate, fear, slander and lies. All things the Lord hates. It is one thing to inform people of the issues, but it is another to call your opponent a murderer, terrorist, and an unbeliever of God. On the other end, Obama has managed to stay focused on the issues at hand. Any negative campaigning he has done has been based only on policy and not at all of his opponent's personal life, even though he knows that it would help him. He has run a different kind of campaign based on bringing people together, not dividing. Not only that, he easily acknowledges Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior,(again 1 Cor 12:3) and does nothing to dance around those questions. I have based my vote based not only on that, but how they represent Christ. The McCain ticket has done nothing to represent Christ other than anti-abortion. To any of us who read the Bible, we know it is a lot thicker than that. The Lord says, "My People are destroyed for a lack of knowledge".
I wonder if Sarah Palin would consider Jesus a Socialist as well?
All through the new testament it says to give to the poor and less fortunate. Here, for instance, Jesus says you will be cast into "everlasting fire" for not taking care of the poor. Seems pretty straight forward to me. You can't have it both ways.
"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.(41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (42) For I was an hungred, and ya gave me no meat: i was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:(43) I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not." -Matthew 25 34-41
If this article is about Sarah Palin's beliefs, I suggest you just ask her. This innuendo and the other comments I'm reading here don't sound very Christ-like to me. John, as for your quotes from the Bible: most real Christians are familiar with all of the words of Jesus. So look into your own bank account and pockets and ask yourself, what do YOU give to the poor? Do you give at least 10% or more? Do you give of your time? Really? Do the politicians you support give time and money like many, many Americans of the Judeo-Christian ethic do? I daresay most of you people blogging here have a self-righteous agenda. Look into your heart and ask yourself, "am I making these comments because it makes me feel like a better person?" If you came face to face with Jesus, what would you have to say about your ownself?

and all of these false prophets, prophecy’s about Mccain/Palin victory can now be put to rest.
Politicans can't be followers of Jesus as God made that point very clear in Luke 16:13, "You cannot serve both God and Money." Politicians serve money because money is more imporatant to them than God and they lie, cheat, and steal to obtain it.

(40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.(41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (42) For I was an hungred, and ya gave me no meat: i was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:(43) I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not." -Matthew 25 34-4
You need to rightly divide the word. Jesus said this as a Jew, to Jews. This was prior to the New Covenant, so Jesus spoke according to the law, and in the spirit of the law. Under the New Covenant, believers are under GRACE now. No one who does not feed the poor is going to hell. Again, Jesus was talking to the unregenerate under the Old Covenant. Your theology is skewed, to say the least.
I was personally amazed when Palin first came out with her speech. I thought, “Wow, this woman really has it together”. After the initial affair with the buzz created, I began thinking a little more rational and then watched events unfold.
It was soon clear that it is almost impossible to really juggle an enormous work responsibility with kids. Was I a working mom? YES. Fortunately I could work hours that didn’t have much conflict with being there. As I did want to teach my kids about morality as preteens and teens, I knew that teaching, role playing and talking about the issues was only one step. The next step was to be there.
I am told that studies tell us that most teenage pregnancies occur between the hours of 4pm and 6pm. I don’t need studies to tell me the thinking behind hind this. Whether there is actually a study out there that actually states this, I don’t really know. But, it doesn’t take rocket science to understand that opportunity exists in a home after school and before parents come through the door from work.
I believe kids want to come in the door and yell, “mom”. And have someone within the walls yell, “I’m here”. In the best of worlds, I believe this is an ideal time to catch up on your kids day. Usually kids are a little weary from school and need a snack to rejuvenate them before they kick into homework gear, other activities or just good home time. and what better time to really find out what is going on with them, with school, with peers, with teachers. Sometimes, well you don’t get a second chance to find out the important things.
Was I 100% there everyday? No I wasn’t. There were occasions. But they were unpredictable. I’m grateful that because the majority of the time I was there, good habits were created for after school activities. Did I leave them vulnerable during those infrequent absences? Of course I did. But, inside I feel like overall the decision to be around was a good one. My kids are all grown and out of the house. Now my career has a little more priority. But, it takes a back seat to still being a parent to my 35 year old twins , 31 year old daughter and my two year old grand daughter.
The pleasures of family. Immeasurable.
Back to the initial statement. So many heartbreaking things have happened in the Palin family. A lot of residual hurt exists. Life could have been different with different choices.
It puzzles me how the diehard Christians would support this type of role model. It seems sort of double standardish. Do you get my drift?
