Why the MSM should cover Babydaddygate

silkypony.jpgMickey Kaus makes a persuasive case. I like this quote that the Silky Pony gave in the "60 Minutes" interview he did with wife Elizabeth after he bravely decided to soldier on after her cancer diagnosis:

But, I think every single candidate for president, Republican and Democratic have lives, personal lives, that indicate something about what kind of human being they are. And I think it is a fair evaluation for America to engage in to look at what kind of human beings each of us are, and what kind of president we'd make.

But the Silky Pony isn't running for president any more? you say. As Mickey points out in response, he's still a big player in Democratic politics, and might have been either an Obama running mate, Attorney General or held some other cabinet post. And now, after this, that's over. What, would Democrats have preferred to learn about this stuff after he was in the cabinet, and in a position to embarrass President Obama? Or if he had been named running mate, do you think the Republicans wouldn't have found out about it, and played the Babydaddy card?

Jeff Daniels, what a great question. Tell us, Rod, is it true McCain came home to find his formerly beautiful wife horribly injured from a car crash, and immediately started committing adultery on her, including with his current wife, the heiress Cindy Hensley? He dumped his wife when she was sick and went for the megabucks? How many Republican leaders have done the same? Are they better than the Roman Catholic priests you've condemned? Why don't you become indignant enough to leave the "conservative" movement, too?

I really think comments should be closed for a spell. How are any of these responsive at all?

Lets see, one one hand we have a candidate who has one wife, a social worker, an advocate for change and on the other hand we have a candidate with two wives, an advocate for failed policies and invests in a beer company that may merge with a company that deals with Cuba, His "sworn enemy".

Hum, who should I trust with my future? Edwards was a good candidate, faithful to his family and a hard worker for the causes of the working man. McCain cheated on his wife, has no track record of creating jobs, invests in outsourcing and supports a failed war.

Oh yes, Edwards is the most liberal (next to Obama) and McCain is the conservative(?) or so I've been told. Everybody knows that Liberials are spawned by the Devil and Conservatives are the Chosen of God.

I had no idea John Edwards was so popular...

Good point, Kimberly. It is impossible for some people to engage in a rational critical discussion of the point. Another reader just wrote me privately to say I should shut down all the comboxes for a while, because the tone has gotten so nasty he doesn't want to visit them anymore. I'm not going to go that far, but I am going to shut down this one. Sorry, screaming mimis!
