I saw the same clip of Joe Biden campaigning Friday that Alex Massie did, and I agree with him: Biden is tough as nails here, and awfully impressive (follow the link to Alex's site to see the clip). I'm still...
I think with these words - "our Palin" - Rod and the rest of the Palin supporters on this list should forfeit any right to complain when we mock their swoon with names like "Mother Sarah" or "St. Sarah of Wasilla."
Congratulations, Republicans, you've found your lightworker.

No one needs to hide Joe from the press and the public while he gets a crash course in foreign policy and economic policy. It's a devestating critique without pettiness and family pictures.

The seriousness (lack thereof) of this pick is made more evident every day that Palin refuses to sit down for questions from the Press.
In two weeks she'll have cogent positions (not talking points) on Entitlement Reform, The Iraq War, Immigration, Tax Policy, Israeli/Palestinian Conflict, Iraq/Iran connections, Russia, Hugo Chavez, Cuba Policy, Cafe Standards, Ethanol Subsidies, Health Insurance?
Seriously?
You think she's a good VP candidate based on... exactly what? I'm still waiting for someone to tell me, specifically other than her social views, what policy positions make her worthy of support?

This is making the rounds via email. Snopes called the writer, a homemaker in Wasilla, and confirmed that she wrote it as it appears on their site.
It is neither complimentary nor a total slam on Palin, but it does indicate that Palin is not a good money manager- not a good steward at all, and that she is vindictive. Wasilla is still suffering from her years as mayor. Also, she does not appear to have too many solid principles on governing.
Who in the press will follow up on this? If this is an accurate portrayal of Palin, she is not anyone I want a heartbeat away.

The Democrats could never make teen pregnancy legitimate -- paradoxically only Republicans, with their persuasive simulation of moral authority, can.
Leave it to the Republicans to "go to China" on teen pregnancy.

The social conservative defense of Palin shows why they will never win the culture wars -- they cannot win them because it all comes down to a pragmatic "lesser evil" strategy which undermines any moral authority they might have exerted in the first place. For liberals and secularists, the defense of Palin is pure hypocrisy, an example of selective lenience.
It's a war that conservatives cannot win, but one in which they can inflict tremendous amount of damage while choosing to fight it, by undermining the capability of the country to address the real issues of the national debt, catastrophic climate change, geopolitical competition over resources, and destabilizing military commitments abroad.
Rod, didn't you yourself once say that the Islamists do not have the power to establish the Ummah, but could wreak considerable havoc while trying all the same? I don't see your enthusiasm for Palin leading the country in an all that different direction.

What's scary is that Obama is no different, and he won't just be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, he would be the heartbeat!

Elizabeth, as I mentioned in a different thread, while that letter and its author are real, neither the letter nor the author mentions that the author and her husband are lifelong Democrats. It takes a bit of Googling to uncover that; Snopes doesn't reveal it, either.
So while it's possible that the letter-writer isn't even remotely influenced by partisanship, it's also possible that she is. And it's apparent that she must be one of the 20% of Alaskans who think Palin didn't do a good job in office, as opposed to the 80% who did.
