Mike Huckabee on Sarah Palin

Tuesday September 2, 2008

Categories: Republicans
Got some up-close video this afternoon of Huck defending Sarah Palin, and laying into the media for what he calls its sexism. Watch the short clip after the jump. The brief presser followed a panel Huck moderated on the arts....

Great. A "conservative" trying to out-PC the PCistas.

I said it in another thread, and I'll say it here: if the Palin pick convinces conservatives to vote for McCain, then they're every bit as stupid as McCain believes they are.

Are you gonna post anything about what Huck had to say about arts education?

Mike, as always, shows class.

If the Palin pick convinces conservatives to vote for McCain, then they're every bit as stupid as McCain believes they are.

I was going to vote for McNotobama, but since the Alaskan Governor has been picked for VP, I've been leaning more toward McPalin. I suppose this makes me stupid in the eyes of Mr. Copold. Oh well. I've been called worse by brighter bulbs.

I second Juliana. This is the second time, after Mr. Huckabee was eliminated from the Republican nomination contest, I've heard him make a statement that is realistic, compassionate and knowledgeable. He's just so ... human. In a good way.

I suppose this makes me stupid in the eyes of Mr. Copold.

Not just my eyes, but also in the eyes of the guy you're voting for: all he has to do is steal some conservative seedcorn by prematurely elevating one of our up-and-coming leaders into an essentially powerless office. Face it, Alex, you're a cheap date. McCain didn't even have to buy you dinner.

Rod, I want to hear about Huck and the arts! This is the type of thing I hope that major candidates for the Republicans start making a priority. Not above other crucial things (defense, pro-life cause, etc. come to mind), but to excite a passion for the arts in both conservatives and in this country. Someone like JFK, really, who was passionate about the arts (they didn't name the Kennedy center after him for nothing).

What is it -- besides being female -- that makes Sarah Palin a better choice than Huckabee or Pawlenty? I just don't get it.

Why oh Why didn't he pick Huckabee?!

"Why oh Why didn't he pick Huckabee?!"

Because he's a white man. Just wasn't the year to be picking another white guy.

I would like to hear more about his support of the arts as well. Hopefully you get that interview eventually. Maybe he will be part of McCain's administration. I'm sure there are many slots he could fill.

"Why oh Why didn't he pick Huckabee?!"

Because Huckabee is NOT a conservative. Huckabee is a moderate, and many in the party are getting tired of moderates.

True, the scourge of moderatism really is growing so tiresome. Thank God for all the uncompromising extremists that are helping to make our political process the vibrant hot-tub of insightful discourse that it's become.

Anybody who abuses their position of power to try to fire a former
brother in-law and Commissioner simply because of a personal
vendetta and not on the basis of job merits is unethical,
untrustoworthy and unfit to be a heart-beat from the highest
office in the Land.
