Why do drugs? Reality is weird enough. Here's a story about a new vicar in England, one Rev. Skye Denno, who distinguishes herself by eschewing ordinary priest clothes for punk gear, including multiple piercings and dominatrix heels:
Miss Denno, 29, who admits to a taste for lager and the Sex Pistols, is two weeks into her appointment as curate at the Church of St James the Great in Dursley, Gloucestershire.'It's been great,' she said. 'My clothes and how I look haven't been a problem.
'I think it makes me more approachable and I haven't heard any grumbles. At the most people have been a little surprised.
'I did walk down the street in biker boots, hot pants and dog collar and got a few looks. I don't do it to be difficult - it's just me.
'The Church can be quite cliquey and it's important for me to keep it real and not be another stuffy, middle-class vicar.'
Miss Denno moved to the town with her partner Joel and their two young children last month to take up her new role.
Fab! The vicar dresses like a tart. It's not for me to judge the quality of her relationship with the Almighty. But she is supposed to be a Christian priest. Remind me why on earth anybody is supposed to take this church seriously.

BTW, I am with many of the commenters here.
I am also an orthodox Anglo-Catholic, and I was expecting something far worse than what I saw.
Like the other commenters, I can't say what her theology is. I don't know if she ever dresses more punk than what is seen in the picture. But piling up on the girl for how she dresses contributes directly to the impression that many people have today that if you don't dress in a certain way then you are not welcome in a church.
I actually had classmates who believed that someone dressed as a punk would probably be so unwelcome at a church like mine that they would be escorted out. I had to work hard to counter the idea. I told them that they might get a few stares just for the novelty of their appearance (its human after all) but that my congregation would bend over backwards to welcome them all the same just like we do with everyone else. They were amazed to hear it. I thought it was a bloody shame that they had had that impression at all in the first place.
Are we meeting people where they are or just talking about it? Do people have to meet a certain standard of dress before they are acceptable to us? Even if we would rather that punks and the like showed more respect for their "temples", even if we would like to bring them around to that notion at some point, how would we ever do it if they stay far away convinced that we would never accept them as they are right now?
FWIW, I can add some clarity here.
a) Joel is her Husband. Yes, entirely married. Gawd knows why they put "partner" in the article.
b) Skye is very active, enthusiastic and busy in the community, charitable works, etc. She is an exceptionally selfless and religious individual.
As stated above by Jenny. This is a reprint from another paper, twisted more than slightly in order to cast Skye in a bad light and ensure that people get wound up. Which it has. Please remember that what you read in a paper is there to sell the paper, and may (as in this case) bear only passing resemblance to the truth.

Now I'm suddenly imagining what it would be like if a certain "Dursley" family was there.
(Joke only half the readers will get.)
God bless.
I am a conservative,or traditional Anglo-Catholic, and have really, really, grown to despise liberals and look forward to the inevitable schism when we can throw crap like this vicar out
Is that really the way to talk about your sister in Christ, Anglican? And someone you don't even know?
I do know her, and she's one of the loveliest people I've ever met.
Methinks you care more about your beloved Church as an institution than you do about spreading Jesus's message of love. I'm probably wrong, but that's what it looks like from here.

May I point out that this "Tart" is my sister in law. She is married (I drove the wedding car) she is not a "Dominatrix" and whilst I thought the issue clossed whilst talking to a collegue about the press and showing him the google results, up popped this site!
You should know far better than to believe the press in this country as they are submitted to the god of this age who the bible tells us is a LIAR.
As a Christian your comments on this blog are very offensive. Check your facts first. Oh and please tell me the scripture where the ministry of comment is mentioned? Gossip is.....
