Speaking of restoring authority...

Categories: Orthodoxy

This very interesting reflection by an Orthodox priest (OCA) demanding true accountability by the OCA's bishops for the financial scandal that's rocked the church is an extraordinary example of ordinary people standing up for an institution against the elites whose misgovernance has failed it -- and doing so for the sake of saving the institution.

Here you have a priest, under his own name, calling out the bishops of his church for their continued misgovernance and failure to own up to their own mistakes -- and even alleging publicly what has been widely discussed in private: that there are some among the bishops who may be compromised because of homosexual activity in their personal lives, and that this affects the judgments they make and the actions they carry out as church leaders.

This hurts. But this has to happen.
