Rod Dreher is an editorial columnist for the Dallas Morning News, and author of "Crunchy Cons" (Crown Forum), a nonfiction book about conservatives, most of them religious, whose faith and political convictions sometimes put them at odds with mainstream conservatives. The views expressed in this blog are his own.
(Pulls himself back off floor after laughing) That's great!
Houghton: I guess that makes me a humorless prig, huh?
Yes, it does. Rod's not for Obama, for Pete's sake, and he still posted it. Lighten up!
Make that evil Diebold machines with vacuums in them.
I don't know. I mean I like the Simpsons, but personally I tend to cringe when they get too overt. That kind of verged into "Bart-Mangled Spanner", or whatever that episode was called, territory. I like it better when they're about politics in general, a generic Republican, or take on both sides like in "Citizen Kang." When you get as specific and topical you risk dating real bad. This is part of why "Murphy Brown" is almost unwatchable now.
That said I did like the part about Ike and "I only meant one of those votes for McCain." The Ohio part was kind of funny too
Oh, I laughed, don't get me wrong. It just gets a little old when the majority of the jokes always seem to be at the expense of Republicans.
For instance, Jon Stewart is funny. But while he's funny, he's also arrogant, smug, bitter, and generally a mouthpiece for the New Left view of things. So, you know, after awhile, not so funny.
I loved the tag line for Citizen Kang: "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!"
lol!
