Ben Affleck, wuss di tutti wussies
According to Keith Olbermann, Ben Affleck apologized to him for that hilarious SNL takedown of the Mini-Murrow. Twerpness aboundeth. Please tell me that the Age of Obama is not going to cow these people into cringingly confessing their comedy crimes...
Why does this have to be about Obama? Olbermann is a able blowhard, and Affleck is a Hollywood twerp whose modest acting talents far outpace his career management skills.
And Obama fits in here, how, exactly?
But the sketch was brilliant, and brilliantly executed.
""Keith - Remember, a) I didn't write this; b) it took years of study - fondly, Ben.""
That's not much of an apology --- and, if they were friends (as the tone suggests) and/or politically sympathetic, Ben might well want to write such a note.
It means something that a supporter can do such a spot on impersonation and mocking job on a candidate he supports. How many bush supporters do the same? Seriously.
"It means something that a supporter can do such a spot on impersonation and mocking job on a candidate he supports. How many bush supporters do the same? Seriously.'
Neither Olberman nor Bush are candidates. Just saying.
maryQ, it was about the "Age of Obama," not Obama. The "Age of Obama" is a cultural phenomenon where media types faint, feel strange bodily sensations, and otherwise fall over themselves for the sake of their politically beloved.
Why would he apologize for his only decent performance since "Chasing Amy"? He came close to ruining "Good Will Hunting" with his awful turn taking Will's palce in an interview. What a silly goose.
I liked Olbermann better when he was reading baseball scores on ESPN.But if liberal media companies can turn a theater critic like Frank Rich into a national columnist, obviously these compnaies are run by geniuses. Telling us the Cubs beat the Braves or celebrating Off Broadway productions are great experiences in becoming one an expert in many different fields. Who knew? What a surprise that NY Times and GE stock are in the toilet.
Sounds like Affleck was just being polite. If he and Olbermann are friends, then of course the former is going to apologise for extracting the urine out of the latter on national television.
Yeah, I find absolutely nothing wussy or even surprising about Affleck's note. It sounds like exactly the kind of thing you would leave for someone you liked but were mocking anyway. It doesn't sound like an apology, it sounds like an affectionate shoulder punch after a joke.
This assumes that Olbermann was telling the truth, which is generally a stretch.
Ben Afleck is a whole box of Tools. Not just one.
"I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark,
when he made pearl harbor.
I need you like Ben Afleck needs Acting school,
he was terrible in that film."
Olbermann remarked on his Friday night show that he had been invited to Studio 8H to help out with an impersonation of him on the following night's SNL, saying something like, "Good luck getting the character right -- I've been trying for 49 years without much success." So it was hardly a bolt out of the blue for Olbermann.
MATT DAMON!!!
