She is 47, frumpy, out of work, from a small Scottish village. She is unmarried, and by her own admission, has never been kissed. In most respects, the kind of person many look at and think: Loser.
But look at what Susan Boyle just did.
Oh my gosh. This is a real tearjerker, in a good way. You cannot miss watching that clip.
UPDATE: The more you read about Susan Boyle's life, the more you love her. She so deserves every good thing that's coming her way now.
UPDATE.2: From the comments below, how this spinster who lives in public housing in a Scottish village, a victim of bullying and a disability, who spent her life being faithful to the church and caring for her now-dead parents, is bringing hope to people around the world:
Grace: "I am a woman, 56, Black and I have been called a failure. I really cried when I saw Susan Boyle sing and read her story. It gives me much hope. Her day came and I too dream and believe that my day to shine will come." Carol: "I didn't want to cry but I did. I'm 59 and have a life-threatening and debilitating disease. Because of it, I'll most likely be unemployed soon. I watch as the world, including the church, seems to increasingly belong to the young and healthy. I have no singing talent like Susan's but listening to her gave me the tiniest grain of hope that perhaps I am not yet a totally useless person."
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." 1 Peter 5-6 (KJV)

Thank you so much for posting this, Rod. I'm not sure I would have found it any other way. I showed it to my wife and kids, and we were in tears together.
I hope there's a worthy man out there who will marry this beautiful woman and treat her like a queen the rest of her life.
she's amazing! They should just declare her the winner :) cheers from the UK.
That's funny, I never thought of Susan as a loser when I saw her. I guess if your self absorbed you would do that sort of thing.
Yes, I never would have thought to think of her as a loser until it was suggested by so many people. It actually really depresses me that people think she was ever a loser.
She's great... society and all their judgments? Not so great.
Thank you Rod. Other commentary have not given enough attention to the positive effect Susan's triumph have had on other people. That alone is probably the most important lesson and gift this entire phenomenon has had in the world. If even one person can feel less like 'a useless person' and can be inspired to achieve or do more, then all of us, humankind, have been improved and elevated in some way. Kudos to Susan and to you for bringing up her effect on the lonely, the down trodden, the 'other' Susan Boyles of the world.
On another uplifting note, I created a montage of the judge's face, before, during and AFTER that (to me) was the highlight of the performance. Changing people's perceptions and biases .... now THAT's a triumph that Susan Boyle never expected, but inevitably achieved.

Peace to all and a big THANK YOU to Susan for daring to share her gift with the world. :)
