Justice Department to investigate Tiller murder (Erin)

The Justice Department will be investigating George Tiller's murder:

The department will investigate possible federal crimes in connection with Dr. Tiller's slaying at his church on Sunday in Wichita, Kan. State prosecutors have already ruled out seeking the death penalty against the accused gunman, but federal prosecutors did not rule out doing so as they announced their own investigation.

"The Department of Justice will work tirelessly to determine the full involvement of any and all actors in this horrible crime," said Loretta King, head of the department's civil rights division.

Anyone who played a role in the killing, she said, will be prosecuted "to the full extent of federal law."

No word yet as to whether a similar investigation will be opened into the killing of Army Pvt. William Long at the hands of Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad.

"What many of us noticed was how quickly and how fiercely Obama came out with guns blazing on the Tiller murder."

Did you also notice that Fox News, your news flagship, was rather light on news from the Long murder compared to the Tiller murder? Or that this very blog was rather light on posts about the Long murder, save for one comparing it to the Tiller case.

Now, are you ready to condemn Fox and Erin with the same breath you condemn Obama? Probably not, nor should you. But before you go getting on your high horse think about this.

A murderer walked into a house of worship and shot a civilian. Another murderer went to a military facility and shot two military personnel.

Both of these are tragedies on so many levels that I cannot count them. But, as a Christian, which one inspires more anger in you, the one done at a military installation, or the one done in God's house?

I am thankful that both state and federal authorities are investigating both of these crimes. I am thankful that suspects are in custody, and evidence is being gathered to prosecute them in a court of law. I am thankful that it appears that both will have their fair day in court, and if convicted both will receive the full weight of justice in their sentencing.

But, when did Jesus display violence? When his Father's house was being defiled. Which one of these murders defiled the Father's house?

R Johnson, I don't watch cable news. I could not tell you which one covered what and how. We'll all have to leave that to those of you who do.

I'm still interested in your thoughts, Michele. Which of these terrible and indefensible killings generates more anger in you?

Michelle says;

"That's really the gist of this whole flap. A perfect illustration of Obama's true proclivities. It's just always amazing when you see it so starkly illustrated."

So, go ahead and starkly illustrate it for us. All you've shown us so far is a distinction in how YOU reacted and perceived his speeches. If the difference between Obama's reaction is so "stark," then lay it out for us. Quotes, dates, the whole nine yards. Otherwise, your comment basically says "as a conservative who was looking to criticize Obama no matter what he did, and would have seen what I wanted to see in his speeches, I feel like he reacted with real anger in one killing and low key sorrow in another."

Not to mention the growing mountain of evidence that this was, in fact, a conspiracy, possibly with OR operatives involved...
