Glenn Garvin of the Miami Herald doesn't like the new reality series "Miami Social." I mean, he really, really doesn't like it. From his scorching review:
Before we go any further, let's be clear about something: I'm not saying Miami Social is so bad it's good. I'm saying it's so bad it will make you regret being born with eyes. I'm saying it's so bad that if you saw a member of the cast burst into flame on the street, you wouldn't waste your spit putting him or her out. I'm saying Osama bin Laden, if he sees it, will weep bitter tears of frustration that he went after the wrong American city.

A bit OT, but since you're in a TV reviewing mood, perhaps a column on True Blood?
Reading this has validated a decision I made about 15 years ago to never let cable television into my house.

Very funny putdowns by the critic. I must admit I heartily hate reality television, so there is no danger I'll ever watch this show.
Add me to the list of those who do not watch TV because I won't pay for cable. One year and counting....
I do, however, own and watch select DVDs, so I'm not totally devoid of video entertainment. And I occasionally search out video clips online if I feel like I've missed something that, culturally or intellectually, I should be exposed to.
OK, I wasted an hour watching this show. I found the editing ridiculously choppy. Maybe these people really have nothing to say, but the editors seemed to give each person about seven seconds of talking time before switching to other venues. On top of which, I feel connection with none of these people. Well, I may tune in one more time to see how one character develops (if at all), but the entire group seems vain and shallow.
I love South Beach and go once a year for a long weekend of beach and parties, but I could never live there. Sadly, it seems the folks on this show have let their cotton candy life to rot their brains and hollow them out.
