Are You A Concerned Citizen?

“Never doubt that a small
group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed,
it’s the only thing that ever does.”  – Margaret Mead

Have you expressed concern to a friend or family member regarding something you’ve seen or read in the news lately?   Have you found yourself thinking or saying, “But what can I do?  I’m just one person.”  ONE person Can and Does make a difference.

Here are the ways to find the address of your Congressperson or Senator.  If you have concerns as a citizen – take them to your elected official.  That we each have a voice matters.  Do not allow your silence to be taken as approval.  If you disagree agree with something – let your elected officials know.   And if you are utterly behind a concept, action or idea…let them know that, too!

Raise your voice!  Celebrate your citizenship by acting on it.

WHAT From WHO?

WHAT have you learned?  WHO taught you?  Are you aware of gratitude toward the people who have provided the key lessons of your life?  Two thousand years ago, what Marcus Aurelieus knew about gratitude is still valid today.  It’s important to see and acknowledge where the core of our values and beliefs come from.  It keeps us on a purposeful track rather than being motivated by unknown and unnamed sources.  Check his list out and see if you can start your own.

Marcus Aurelius gives
acknowledgment to the teachers in his life: In  book one of “Meditations…

From my grandfather Verus
I learned good morals and the government of my temper.

From the reputation and
remembrance of my father, modesty and a manly character.

From my mother, piety and
beneficence, and abstinence, not only from evil deeds, but even from evil
thoughts; and further, simplicity in my way of living, far removed from the
habits of the rich.

From my great-grandfather,
not to have frequented public schools, and to have had good teachers at home,
and to know that on such things a man should spend liberally.”

What Difference Does ONE Make?

Ask any politician who has been victorious in an election so close the votes had to be recounted.  ONE vote makes a difference.
Ask anybody who got the last of a certain blood type for a needed transfusion. One contributor made a difference.
You make think that your actions do not matter in the larger scheme of things.  In truth, your ONE action might mean the difference between life and death to someone.  Stand up.  Be ONE who makes a difference.

What Did You Love Doing When You Were A Child?
I loved singing. I sang sungs I'd been taught. I sang songs that sprang from my heart and experience that I hadn't learned anywhere but in my own soul. And that was a very long time ago.  Now, decades later...I have the honor of collaborating with a talented and servant-hearted singer/so
