In Kabul, a military chaplain prepares for a service in a British cemetery to mark Remembrance Day.
Commonwealth countries as well as other countries around the world observe two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month (11:00 am, 11 November), marking the time (in the United Kingdom) the Germans signed the Armistice which ended World War I in 1918.

I liked the prayer for soldiers in today’s post, a prayer that gives its origin as the Presidential Prayer Team. But I would add, “Let their service and sacrifice serve justice and humanity for all. Let their enemies become fiends and let their work lead to peace.”
