OK, so why did they select three “experts” who all hate the Catholic Church? This is the CNN approach to analysis.

“experts’ hardly seems accurate. Nobody from the traditional side of the Anglican communion, a liberal American Episcopal and two profs from liberal universities.
Disappointing that the idea is slanted towards ‘Rome is doing this because they need more traditional members and clergy.’ I didn’t realize the Church had a problem with attracting traditional members. I doubt that married Anglican priests – who will be few in number and no necessarily mixed in with Roman priests will have any larger impact than the married Orthodox priests we already have.
In the three dioceses I’m familiar with there are sharply increasing numbers of seminarians. Between Nashville and Birmingham, for instance, there are about 50 men in the seminary at the same time and a waiting list of those who want to apply.
They also don’t mention the reasons for why the TAC is ‘knocking at the door’: its numbers are far diminished from 15 years ago. Folks are just not interested in the liberal ‘remake the church the way I want it.’ agenda.

This was just terrible! The Princeton Professor has no clue what this is all about and it was obvious. Bishop Spong doesn’t believe much of anything and is hardly representative of the Anglican Church. Fr. Reese loves to be on the news and will say anything against Rome and Bishops since they removed him from America. What a sham! I thought this was recommended because it offered something of value. A waste of time and actually offensive to anyone with a real understanding of the issues surrounding Rome’s new approach to the Anglicans.

Poorly done. No perspective from mainstream Catholicism; only from the extreme left. Spong denies the divinity of Christ. Pagels promotes Gnosticism. And Reese is, well, a Jesuit.

I sure wish Archbishop Tim Dolan would have been in place of Fr. Reece.
That Princeton professor clearly has no clue. Even with female clergy the AC has a shortage of ministers.
There is a clear answer to Bp. Spong’s question about why the AC doesn’t make a similar announcement — few would leave the Catholic Church for the Anglican Communion.2
