"Thank God for crying babies"

Tuesday November 24, 2009

Categories: This & That
"Don't worry about the crying child. All of that crying just means that the Catholic Church has a future. If you go into a church that does not have a crying baby, that church is in trouble. It has no future. So, let us thank God for crying babies."

-- A priest, to his congregation, cited in this blogpost by Deacon Curtis Turner.

True, so very true! The other night here in Indianapolis, I checked out a highly regarded soul food restaurant. Lots of families, lots of crying babies. Being fatherless, they got on my nerves but the food was great and I enjoyed being amid the families. Come to think of it, it's not unlike going to church, is it?

I LOVE babies crying at Mass...even during my homily. If ADULTS cry during my homily, I guess then I should be concerned!

Jerry...

Was that a Freudian slip? Or do you mean "Being CHILDLESS..."

Wow. It must have been a Freudian slip. Yes, I have no children and my father passed away many years ago. I can't believe I said that.

For once someone is starting to please God and Jesus by accepting life of our children in Church without the adults being annoyed.

Bishop Sheen and Rt. Rev Mnsg. Carrieres preached this for years. Rev. Carrieres said if anyone attempted to build a place for mothers and young babies he would take an axe to it. We are teaching them whether we know it itor not. " God loves their crys, it is prays to Him and a sign of life."
