The e-mail from Atlanta’s associate formation director, Deacon Steve Swope, says it all:
This past Saturday Archbishop Gregory ordained fifteen Deacons here in Atlanta. The back row of the picture L-R are: (me, Bishop Joseph Madera -visiting from California, Auxiliary Bishop Luis Zarama, Archbishop Wilton Gregory, Archbishop Emeritus John Donaghue, a new Deacon Wayne Nacey and then on the far right, Deacon Dennis Dorner – Chancellor and Director of Permanent Diaconate)
Wayne and the other guys are the new Deacons. You can tell by the smiles!
These guys will serve throughout the Archdiocese, from way north in Blairsville to the far south in Lagrange.
Oh Happy Day for Atlanta!
Indeed! Ad multos annos, brothers! I hope to post more when the Georgia Bulletin provides its write-up. Congratulations!

What a wonderful group of men! It was a real joy to work with them in the formation program. This year for the first time, several of the newly ordained deacons have chosen to be assigned to ministries of service in the community in addition to their parish duties. This marks a big step forward in expanding the role of our permanent deacons as emissaries of the Church to people in need.

All I know is that the deacon you wrote about previously, who was first drawn to the diaconate by the Elijah cup, can flat preach. Not a lot of jazz or flash, but a good, solid, thoughtful homily.
And his voice was still strong at the 1730 Sunday mass, which bodes well, since they made him preach all day long.
I wonder how he sounded at 1900?
