I wonder if Jesus could move up his return to March 21 so I won’t have to file my income taxes?

This comes from the current teaching of Harold Camping. I say “current” because Mr. Camping has set incorrect dates for Christ’s return in the past.

Marie is just one of thousands who have studied the Bible to learn that judgment is coming on May 21, 2011. The Bible plainly states that Christ’s coming will be like the days of Noah. Noah was given 7 days to enter the ark. Likewise, after the flood God gave us 7000 years to become saved (II Peter 3:5-8)). The Bible also provides numerous signs which show that judgment day is coming to include:
1. Israel (the fig tree) became a nation in 1948 AD (Matthew 24:32). Christ is at the doors.
2. In 1988 AD, judgement begins with the church (I Peter 4:17). Subsequently, the church will fall away and will be ruled by Satan who is the antichrist (II Thessalonians 2). At that time, all believers will leave the church.
3. Homosexuality will rise as it did prior to S odom’s destruction (Romans 1:24, Luke 17:28).
4. God will increase knowledge at the “time of the end” (Daniel 12:4-9). This information will help us know the time of judgment day.
5. God will save a great multitude of people outside the church between 1994 AD and May 21, 2011 AD (Revelation 7:9).
Many of us have been deceived by the church. We were taught you can become saved by “accepting Jesus” which is man’s work not God’s grace. We were taught that Christ is coming as a thief in the night but the Bible say He will not for the believers (I Thessalonians 5:1-4). We were taught that it’s ok to divorce our spouse but God says don’t separate what He joined together (Matthew 9:6). We were taught that women and homosexuals can be pastors of the church but I Corinthians 14:34 says otherwise. All of these things led to God’s judgment. Now it’s time to repent!

Just because you make a list and put a bunch of numbers next to it doesn’t mean you know what you are talking about. I could make the same sort of list pushing my world view, but what’s the point.
Jesus says that even He doesn’t know when The Judgement will occur. All these people who claim otherwise are liars.

Darrell: “We were taught that Christ is coming as a thief in the night but the Bible say He will not for the believers (I Thessalonians 5:1-4).”
Wrong! Read this passage in your Bibles and notice that the Bible does NOT say that Christ will not come as a thief for the believers as Darrell claims. Darrell has been trained to ignore the word “overtake” in verse 4. The believers will not be OVERTAKEN by the thief. Their houses will not be broken up by the thief (Mt. 24:43). Believers are “worthy to escape” all these things that shall come to pass (Luke 21:35). There is no point in “watching” if we already know the date. “Watching” is not about knowing a date. It is about being sober vigilant and expectant.

As a philanthropist and activist, I just wish more people would focus on what they are doing right now, at this moment of their lives, to make a positive impact in behalf of others as opposed to focusing on whatever date they believe the world will end, be it the return of Jesus Christ or the Mayan Calendar…LOL!
Being vigilant isn’t about being like the Santa Clause song, “Be good for goodness sake, because he knows when you are sleeping…”
It’s about being fully present here and now, using our lives to serve others, not because we think it will make Jesus pass over us as he seeks out to hurt all others who don’t believe in him…no. It’s about using our lives to serve others because that is what our souls are incarnated for on this earth to do. Let God be the judge of us and others, and let us focus on making here upon this earth a world worthy of the tenants of a peaceful humanity.
And no, I’m not picking on Christians with this notion…I say the same thing to my friends obsessed with their past lives….God put you HERE. NOW. So use it to do HIS work. Do it for LOVE. Any other reason is just gathering “points” and in nowhere in any great religion’s holy book does Yahweh or Jesus or Buddha, or Mohammed or Moses or even Quetzalcoatl say…”The ones with the most points get in!” LOL! ;o)
P.S. – Check out the “Noosphere” theory of Jesuit monk Teilhard de Chardon…he postulated that the return of Christ would be the “Cosmic Christ”…an expanding of the soul/consciousness of mankind. The fascinating thing is, his interpretation jives with a lot of other religious texts around the world all about this same time in humanity’s history…it’s a beautiful vision, and as strongly based in scripture as any other theologian’s interpretation!

Harold Camping is pretty confused. He asserts May 21, 2011 as the date of the rapture. Yet his Program Department that he is the GM of, is planning to prepare programs for May 21, 2011 and way beyond! Get this too… he is one of the board members listed on various construction permits with expected dates if granted which are also beyond May 21, 2011. So – if you really look at what he is doing you realize that he is an interesting study in contradictions and he really is out to make a name for himself. He is not Christian.

HV RADIO,
Camping has been asked about this, and his response was something a long these lines. When negotiating contracts, you allow a long term license to remain, long term. In other words contractual deals would get difficult to complete, with trying to apply May 21, 2011 as end date.
Can you imagine the time it would take trying to make a room full of legal folk see your point. So, just let the deals fall like business as usual, applies in many instances.
