The husband behind the BirthOrNot web site that caused an international controversy over a vote on an abortion has now admitted the web site was a hoax.
Pete and Alisha Arnold put up the web site under the claim that they were conflicted over a decision about whether to have an abortion and take the live of their 17-week-old unborn child or give birth to the baby.
In new comments to CNN, Pete Arnold said his wife supports legalized abortion but he admitted the couple put the web site online knowing they never intended to seek an abortion.
Arnold also admitted what bloggers from both sides of the abortion debate revealed days ago — that he purchased the BirthOrNot.com web domain about four months ago — well before Alisha became pregnant.
“We chose our words very carefully,” Arnold told CNN about public statements saying the site was legitimate during the international press craze that followed the initial stories.
He said Arnolds, who live in Minnesota, wanted to put up a web site that would engage people on the issue of abortion because so many feel it’s a topic that doesn’t touch them personally.
“A lot of people elect representatives based on this issue alone, yet nothing happens, nothing comes of it, nothing changes.” he said, telling CNN the couple called the unborn child “Baby Wiggles” to give people more to consider.
“My intent is not to deceive people, but at the same point, I do want people to talk about this. This seemed like a pretty good way to further the discussion, because people don’t ever seem to want to talk about it for real if there’s no name on it, no Baby Wiggles,” he said.

That is a couple of “sick puppies”. Not a way to “discuss” the pros and cons of an abortion, IMO.

The link one is taken to at the “Read on” must be a hoax too. It mentions un-named “pro-abortion bloggers”. There is no such thing. There ARE pro-choice bloggers, but in all my 59 years, I’ve never once heard anyone at all call themselves “pro-abortion”. It is a made up term (typical of this site, I’ve observed) – aka a lie. And we all know lying makes the baby Jesus cry. So stop it. It doesn’t become anyone calling themselves Christian.

Pro-abortion is a made up term; we are pro choice, and support all decisions equally. The only “conversation” these people had create is that of their desire for attention and their nerve at cloaking it in such a sensitive issue.

When I was in Boston as a student going to the polls to vote, I met a young man who described the candidate he supported as “pro-abortion”. Only when I showed my disgust did he change it to pro-choice. Sorry, but if the shoe fits…
I think this stunt was a pretty weird attempt to open a discussion on abortion.

Re: “Pro-Abortion”, Your Name and Lauren, give me a break. In almost 40 years, you pro “choicers” don’t even have the honestly and the guts to finish your sentence. So please, allow me (wihthout using pro abortion of course). Take your pick:
Women’s right to choose:
to kill her unborn helpless baby
to stop a beating heart
to “conveniently” end an unwanted pregnancy
to proclaim another human being “MY body”, consequently, kill it
not only kill, but inflict great physical pain, such as suction, or gashing head with scissors, on babies aborted after 20 weeks.
to thwart God’s love
