Merry Tossmas?

Wednesday December 12, 2007

Categories: Christmas

In this "Stoplight" video posted by Focus on the Family's CitizenLink, commentator Stuart Shepard makes a decision about all of those catalogs that wish him "Happy Holidays." He's going to invite those retailers to celebrate his new holiday, "Tossmas." The main ritual of this particular celebration is that anyone who uses "Holiday" instead of "Christmas" in hopes of not offending anyone will get their catalog festively tossed into the garbage can (let's hope that was a recycling bin....).

It would be a better demonstration of the Christmas spirit if, instead of worrying about whether people trying to sell merchandise without offending anyone use the word "Christmas," they used their time and energy and access to YouTube to encourage others to reach out to those less fortunate.

What a pointless video. It is just a thoughtful gesture to say "Happy Holidays" since lots of people do not celebrate Christmas. Why is this issue such a big deal? There are a lot of major problems in this world that deserve the constant attention this one is receiving!

This guy is such a moron. Is Christmas not a holiday? Why is he offended that retailers are trying to be sensitive to other's beliefs? I guess that answer is that he's insensitive. Jerk.
