Beyonce and Jay-Z had a baby girl! Congrats to them. Always glad for a healthy birth!
But apparently not everyone is overjoyed with the circumstances surrounding this birth. According to MailOnline:
- A rumored 1. 3 million was spent to renovate a New York hospital for their birth experience.
- A bulletproof door was put on Beyonce’s room
- The couple hired their own security
- The windows were darkened with special drapes so no one could see through
- As the couple moved freely, other new parents had to make adjustments for them. The NICU window’s were darkened with tape and curtains hung so Beyonce and Jay Z could move about with no one seeing them.
Reading about this celebrity birth made me want to begin a charity. It was too much and over the top. Prepare yourself now for the onslaught of pictures once photos are released!
Former Destiny Child songmate, Kelly Rowland, bought the baby (Blue Ivy–yes that is what they named the child!) a Swarovski crystal bath tub! The Insider reported that Oprah bought the baby a trunk of children’s book–this was probably the most sensible gift. Dad Jay Z bought a $20,000 Posh Tots Fantasy Crib and a $15,000 high chair. Other gifts include a handmade golden horse from a Japanese jeweler. The list goes on. Fox news in Chicago estimated that Blue Ivy received more than 1.5 million in gifts.
She’s a baby people! She doesn’t know the difference between a plastic or crystal tub! How about suggesting people donate money to a great cause in honor of her birth.
Then there were the tweets, also over the top: Blue Ivy spelled backwards is Eulb Yvi, Latin for Lucifer’s daughter. Does that include her last name? Which by the way, what would that be…Blue Ivy Z?
The excess on display is crazy–where are the Occupy Wall Street people when you need them! Oh wait, Jay-Z launched a line of Occupy Wall Street themed t-shirt. Is anyone else confused?
After seeing all of this, I just had to stop and pray that this child has some kind of normal life. The excess on parade is staggering.
Beyonce and Jay Z can spend their money any way they want. I just find it fascinating that Occupy Wall Street parks themselves in front of financial institutions whose purpose it to make money, while Jay Z markets a line of t-shirts, Occupy All Streets, that puts profit in his pocket. I wouldn’t care except that I don’t like media lecturing me on the evils of Wall Street while the darlings of Hollywood flaunt their excess with no similar treatment. Aren’t they the very people the occupiers don’t like. Most people can see the disconnect.
But I digress…. back to Beyonce and Jay Z. I wish them and the baby well. They have much to consider raising this child–the excess, entitlement, constant scrutiny and lack of privacy and fame, all will make parenting difficult. Let’s pray they get a grip on all this excess and be sensible parents.

I’m sure they give to charities and I agree that people are crazy when it comes to celebrities, but that was part of the point of the article. What have we come to when such excess is spent on a baby’s birth. What does that say about our culture? That is the bigger issue here.
I actually feel for them in trying to raise a child in all the glitz and fame. I hope they keep the baby out of the lime light as best they can but she is already on a CD.
No hate here. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of railing on those on Wall street, then idolizing celebrities. People will protest over a CEO getting a million dollar bonus, but have no issue with a celebrity baby getting 1.5. million in baby gifts?

Is the first celebrity birth you’ve reported on? Yes our country is filled with those who earn enormous amounts of money while people are living on the streets. The only difference between JayZ & Beyonce is that they are very popular right now. Given the documented behavior of the press, (who will stop at nothing to invade the privacy of the rich ad famous) and the stalkers that have even killed celebrities, I understand why they hired security. Remember the Lindburg baby? Or how about the young couple (who (were by the way not rich), had their baby girl was taken from a NYC hospital over 25 years ago? If the writer of this story had taken the time to research JayZ &Beyonce, she would have learned that they are very chartable young people. In fact probably more than most people their age. Also may writer should go back and confirm the “RUMORED” amount of money paid to the hospital. Even if true, I would assume this was the hospitals charge so wouldn’t it have been the hospital’s responsibility to make sure that the other patients and their families visit not be disrupted? Yes the rich are often times shameful extravagant but, it is this is nothing new in this country. Maybe the faces are more “hued” and younger but this is another negative story in a world of increasing negativity and hate. Your congrats at the beginning and your calls for prayers at the end of your article did nothing to mask the immature comments, and unsubstantiated statements. Just another negative article to add to the increasing negativity in this world.

It just goes to show you that people with money can do whatever they want. The rest of us do what we need to do to make ends meet.
