Hunting power

posted by Robert Moss

You say you are hunting your power
But your power is hunting you.
I’ll go up to the mountain, you say.
I’ll fast and live on seaweed
I’ll hang myself on a meat-hook
Under the hot sun. I’ll give up sex
And wine and my sense of humor.
What are you thinking of?
For you to go hunting your power
Is as smart as the mouse hunting the cat.

Go out in the garden any night
Step one inch outside the tame land
And you are near what you seek.
Open the window of your soul
Any night and your guide may come in.
The issue is whether you’ll run away
When you see what it is. To make sure
You succeed, tether yourself like a goat
At the edge of the tiger wood that breathes
Right beside your bed. He’ll come.

May your roses bloom
Tonight and tomorrow, May 5-6 are Hidrillez, a major bayram, or festival, in Turkey and among Turkic communities that celebrates the meeting of Khidr and Elijah on earth. The word Hidrillez conflates the Turish versions of their names. This is a time to write wishes and tie them to rose bushes, o

Causing a bear: a belated response to Tolkien
I once dreamed I met C.S.Lewis and J.R.R.Tolkien in the New York Public Library. Tolkien told me, "You must study Scandinavian mythology." Years later, when I was writing my Dreamer's Book of the Dead, Lewis appeared in a kind of visitation. I asked him, "Where's Tolkien." Lewis said, "Tolkien won't

Carl Jung, shaman of the West
If you want to know what a true shaman of the West would be like, consider Carl Jung, as he is now revealed in his Red Book. The timing of this poem is so perfect. It is good to know a teacher who can stand upright with integrity in the larger Hoop when more then dis ease comes into play with the little ones I have chosen (and been chosen) to nurture. The dreaming has undeniably forced me into expanding my perceptions and reality has layers to work with and I know I need more training. A house of “feral children” is not an option:) I am thankful to my guides and thankful for how you guided me to open doors and recognize gates in the past.

Carole – Do you have my book “Active Dreaming”? You’ll find many suggestions there, as indicated by the subtitle: “Journeying Beyond Self-Limitation to a Life of Wild Freedom.” And the time is always Now.
