Hi
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day because is the food i eat first time in the morning. Not only that; my all day mood depends on what i eat. If i eat something that makes me feel like a queen (fruits, eggs, good fresh coffe....)i feel confident to start my day or if i didnt have time to breakfast or take something on the go i feel like homeless.

I find that I need a protein-rich breakfast to prevent from overeating throughout the day. The egg (plus an extra egg white) scrambled and one turkey sausage link is relatively low in calories, but really keeps me full throughout the day. I find that the desire to snack is not there with this breakfast.

My breakfast has been a recent habit of 5 yrs duration-hurried,often eaten at the office or on the go.I have recently found that I had better avoid wheat-so oatmeal and fruits are my breakfast.

My husband and I have steel cut oat meal for breakfast along with fat free milk and top the oatmeal with frozen blueberries. If it filling and healthy. It goes well with a nice fresh cup of cofee. I am lucky enough to be retired so I eat mine while I watch the morning news. On the weekends we have farm fresh eggs, toast and turkey bacon or turkey sausage. Eating healthy meals gives us a true sense of well being.

I have found out that if I don't eat breakfast of eggs fresh coffee and juice, I have a really bad day and I will snack all day long and of course we all know what that does to the waist line. But the protein in the morning really helps the whole body and I have a better attitude the whole day. So BREAKFAST rocks.

I have a morning schedule: Wake up, dress, drink a glass of water, stretch, walk a mile around my neighborhood, take a shower, then breakfast (I have 2 pieces of toast, 1 soft boiled egg and a veggie sausage patty with another big glass of water).
I eat my breakfast at my table/bar and I don't watch TV or listen to the news or anything. I just enjoy the quiet with my cats.

I used to wake up and eat immediately, so it took a while to get used to being active before eating, but once I got into it, it became second nature.

I can tell the difference if I forget to stretch, or get lazy and don't walk, or skip breakfast. It doesn't feel good and makes the day less enjoyable.

First, I wake up and go for a short walk - about 1.5 miles, then I come home and I eat a grapefruit and reduced sugar oatmeal each weekday for breakfast. I typically eat between 6:30 and 7:30 AM. While I eat breakfast, I have a few moments with my teenage children as they hustle off to school. I feel grateful to eat my favorite meal of the day while appreciating the fact that the company I share for breakfast these days will not always grace my home - so I relish each moment.
My family has changed habits in a major way, because in the past - we ate out EVERY weekend - most times, both Saturday and Sunday! Now, on the weekends, breakfast is usually much later than 6:30, but we cook together. We make an egg scramble with plenty of fresh veggies and a bit of cheese and ham, 1 slice of whole wheat toast with no sugar added strawberry jelly and turkey bacon. The best part of the weekend breakfast ritual is cooking together, so, once again, I feel blessed for my routine.

I eat a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Clusters and a glass of milk. Fills my up and keeps me on track for 3 meals and 2 snacks the rest of the day and keeps the digestive track working well. Gives me that satisfied feeling.

I recently had a gastric bypass and I am very cautious about breakfast. I usually eat an egg or a ready made pancake with sugarless syrup. I do not eat the whole meal but feel full and stop.
I have lost my taste for coffee, ugh, so I don't drink anything but my protein. I feel energized, lately.

Karen
November 15, 2008 7:17 AM

I usually crave something sweet when I wake up. Sometimes I have a muffin, or a piece of fruit, or oatmeal with some cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. It's interesting how many people have found protien to be an important component of their breakfast. I think I'm going to try it because I usually am hungry 2 hours later.

Joyce
November 15, 2008 7:49 AM

I wake up at 5 am with my husband who travels an 1 1/2 hours daily to work. I have a cup of coffee with fat free half & half and equal. At 7 when I've been to work for a half hour, I have a bowl of cereal. The kind varies, but I always measure out what the portion is that is listed on the box or I have a pack of Weight Control Oatmeal. I do pick a healthy kind. Whether I have the dry cereal or the oatmeal, I make sure I have 8 ozs of Super Skim milk with it. When I first eating breakfast regularly, I had a hard time with it, because I wasn't hungry, but now my stomach tells me even if I'm just a few minutes late eating. I always have more energy and feel more alert after I've eaten breakfast.

I have an unusual schedule and don't normally start work until 10:30 AM. I wake up around 7:30, drink at least 16 oz. of water, walk my best buddies (my 4 dogs) approx. 3 miles (sometimes 4 if I'm really good). Then I come home and have a great big healthy meal of a breakfast wrap...1 cage free egg in a whole wheat tortilla with an assortment of veggies (usuall fresh asparagus, tomato and zucchini), low fat cheese, flaxseed, parsley and a little drizzle of sesame oil and some kind of fresh fruit. It fills me up and gets my day started on a healthy note. I do usually eat in front of the TV but I'm watching TBN so I hope that makes it better!

Lately I have had Oatmeal and a glass of orange juice. Then my Vitiamens. I drink coffee just for the energy, but my stomach hurts afterwards.

Michelle
November 16, 2008 7:20 PM

I vary what I eat. One day I will have an egg and a slice of toast. Another day will have oatmeal with a bit of butter on it. And yet another day will have a pancake with lite syrup on it. I have to vary it or will get "bored". Oh, I either drink coffee or have hot tea.

Good morning and Good monday,
I usually have a yogurt and a fruit for breakfast @ about 9-9:15 ,
but since I get up @ 5 am when I get to work (6:30 /6 45) I have a light activia yogurt, I find that it starts my day on a positive note, I feel satisfied and I feel that by taking 2 min just to have the yogurt I am carving out a small shell of time for myself before the crazyes of the day starts, then @ 9 I sit and take 10 min to enjoy my "real"
breakfast A light yogurt or boiled egg or sugar free oatmeal with fruit.
I wish all a blessed day

I don't like to eat when I first wake up, so I usually take a Zone bar and have at my desk around 8:00 when I get to work. I have yogart and fruit around 10:00 as a snack.

I eat at work. I wait until I feel physical hunger, so it's at all different times. I'm trying to get in touch with the feeling of being truly hungry, and then truly full--which seems to be the hard one.

Well breakfast while I was growing it use to be a good feast at home.
A mix of healthy and unhealthy choices, I would get scrambled eggs with sour cream and bread.
Now I just need my 10 onzes of milk(2% or 1%) usually I start my breakfast as I get behind the wheel and end it up in mi office.

Breakfast is important to me, but working I don't have time to sit and enjoy the hour. Instead I eat quickly and get ready for work.

I eat a healthy cereal, and part skim ricotta for a protein. Sometimes its 1 tbs of peanut butter and jelly on whole weight lite. 2 boiled eggs once a week w/slice of whole wheat and spray butter..

I feel satisfied and make sure i eat a snack within 3 to 4 hrs to always stay satisfied.

I have not reached my goal due to health issues but 20 yrs ago learned how to eat healthy and to exercise most days.

Blessings

Breakfast is my best meal of the day, because I am "beaking fast". this morning I had a 1/2 grapefruit and an English muffin. Tomorrow I will have a bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal. A good breakfast starts my day off right. Thanks sfor Beliefnet.

Unfortunately like many, I eat when I get to work.

I get to work between 7 and 7:30 get my coffee and make my breakfast. It is usually yogurt with real fruit and granola, or maybe cottage cheese with bananas. Sometimes even just a bagel. It all depends on the day.

I don't really like to eat at 6am in the morning, so I wait til I drive in to work. Thankfully I get to do that.

I eat breakfast when I get to work about 8:00 AM which is a bowl of oatmeal and a slice of wheat toast. About 10:00 AM I have a fruit and a cup of decaf coffee this will hold me until lunch time. Some days I have Rasin Bran and a slice of toast. Once a week I have a Sauage Muffin with egg or a bacon and egg muffin. I never skip breakfast because sometime I don't eat dinner.
I am happy with my breakfast plans.

Cottage cheese twice a week. Otherwise an egg and a piece of whole grain bread. Sometimes, I'll skip the bread and have candadian bacon. Always, green tea with lemon. It's worked well for me as I've permanently removed 40 pounds over the past 9 months.

January 6, 2009 10:51 AM

I usually have instant oatmeal and up to 3 cups of coffee,
Me and my co worker sometimes have a cinnamon roll. Depends on the day. I am taking little steps because I used to be a sugar freak and am still a coffee freak.

I eat breadfast at about 6 each morning. One day I eat a fiber cereal and I add dried cranberries and almonds and use soy milk. The next day I do oatmeal and I add cranberries and almonds. I also use soy milk instead of water. I try to start my day with a devotion and then add the food.

Sometimes an egg and a 1/2 bagel, some days weight control oatmeal and 2 turkey sausages.
I never skip breakfast, have to take too many medications.

Since I have a mid-morning exercise routine, breakfast has become very important to me. I start my day with a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Instant Hot Cereal, a piece of fruit (citrus), 2 egg whites (boiled), and coffee. All this makes for a great way to start my day!

I love breakfast and never skip - either organic oatmeal, organic amaranth or buckwheat flakes with ground and whole flax seed added and organic skim or goat's milk. On the weekends I eat veggies and eggs. I also drink at least two cups of oolong tea. I try to give thanks every morning for all that I have and pray for those in need.
During the week I eat breakfast at my desk at work and on the weekends at an outdoor cafe or at home with loved ones.

I'm still struggling with eating breakfast everyday, because I'm not hungry in the mornings! I was once on a weight loss program called The Weigh Down Workshop and basically you didn't eat unless you were hungry. I love coffee and it's the first thing I have each morning but that's about it. I have lost weight this past year, going from almost 160 down to 128 at my lowest point, but maintaining around 135 lbs now. I did this by stepping up my exercising and eating less carbs. I'm 60 years old and God has blessed me with good health! So I'm still working on eating breakfasts!

Wendy
January 6, 2009 3:22 PM

When I am focused on eating correctly I am usually pretty hungry after my 2 cups of coffee. I generally have a couple egg whites with salsa, a small amount of whole grain oatmeal and some berries or grapefruit. This holds me for up to 3 hours and them I am ready to eat again!

Jennifer Simmons
January 6, 2009 3:59 PM

Well, I have two little children, ages two and three. Most of the time I'm so focused with them, I forget to eat. Basically, it's a struggle for me to eat breakfast.

I wish I could understand the breakfast idea of it being so important. If I eat breakfast, I eat all day!
I got in a grind of eating wheat toast every morning. But that has led me to eating carbs all day long. So, now, I am not eating and by 10 am I am ready to eat something to last me till five.
I might be me...but this defnitely works for me best. Yes, I am overweight but I keep working at it. I lost 36 pounds last year and I want to loose 50 pounds this year. Then I will be at my target weight but at 50, Its really hard. I gotta add exercise, sigh!

My family of origin believed in "Early to bed, early to rise..." and my biorhythms continue to love watching the sun come up, the smell of coffee, bacon, hashbrowns, eggs, home made bread, fresh fruit and all the nourishment that's needed after doing farm chores in the cold dark before dawn.
Reality is a low fat fruit yogurt before work and later, at break, Coffee, sometimes with a granola bar. Often I slurp coffee all morning since I'm never far from my desk, phone, computer....
too sad, but it pays the bills ...

I am open to suggestions. Breakfast is in a rush for me, and I often end up eating a donut at school instead of something healthy. I must each breakfast, even when I'm not hungry, because I really don't feel well later. But, I am always rushing and never taking the time to make/eat a decent breakfast. Suggestions welcomed!

I can fix breakfast in about 2 1/2 minutes. I throw a hot n spicy sausage patty in the microwave for just over a minute while frying a couple of over easy eggs while toasting either a bagel or a couple slices of white toast. I pour a small glass of orange juice and chow down. I work a 3-11 p.m. shift so in good weather, one morning each week, I'll go for a 3-mile run with a friend, then fix the above breakfast for both of us, usually scrambling the eggs.

Or, sometimes it's just a bowl of honey nut chex and a small glass of juice.

For years I was a breakfast skipper. A cup of coffee and a cigarette was my staple. Then I quit smoking and it was just a cup of coffee. That is until the dr. said I had to give up caffeine. I would often drink a cup of decaf, but more than not I'd just not have anything until noon, or one or two, sometimes it was three before I got around to eating, depending on how busy I was at work. Then I took a headache I couldn't shake. It was discovered that I had dangerously low blood sugar (any wonder?) and wasn't eating enough calories. So I've started eating a bowl of instant oatmeal or bowl of cheerios for breakfast every morning. It's tough, cause I HATE to eat first thing of a morning, but I am feeling much better without the headache, and believe it or not, I'm eating more and actually LOSING weight! Go figure....

i eat either cereal or wheat toast, yogurt, and possibly a piece of fruit for breakfast and it is usually on the drive to work. I am normally thinking that I wish I had time for a really delicious breakfast. On weekends it is often the same or I will make eggs, waffles, pancakes. I try to add nuts and fruit with the pancakes.

I hate breakfast, I just don't feel like eating first thing in the morning. I learned the importance of having some protein in the morning in order to lose weight, so I usually have a smoothie with protein powder, no-fat milk, and fruit, or sometimes a yogurt and fruit smoothie.

Breakfast is on the run weekday mornings. Usually it is a slim-fast. About 9ish I have a hard boiled egg or a slice of cheese or a tangerine. On the weekends I enjoy oatmeal or toast and tea. I miss having a sit down breakfast each morning but when you have to be to work at 7 it is either sleep a little longer or have the breakfast. I choose sleep!
