Lose Weight: Drink Tea After Dinner (DAY 19)

Monday January 19, 2009

There's something about a hot cup of tea after dinner, a couple of hours before bed, to help you feel full.  Just be sure it doesn't have caffeine to keep you awake, and not have it later than 2 hours or so before bed, so as not to make you have to get up too much, interrupting your restful sleep.

Have a cup of herb tea: if you like sweets at night perhaps you will like a fruited herb tea, like strawberry or kiwifruit to give you a taste of sweetness without sugar.  Or blackberry, or apple tea can also be satisfying, without any calories.  That way, may be you can avoid nighttime eating sugar-laden snacks.

Chamomile tea is something that can help you sleep, or make you feel drowsy without caffeine.

What really works for me is to have a little cinnamon in my nighttime tea - I don't know why, but it instantly takes away cravings and my hunger pangs.  There's a tea concoction that's a combination apple and cinnamon, which is really tasty and satisfying.

Try this - it works!  Let us know how it goes, please.  We always love reading comments.

I am just lately beginning to enjoy tea, and trying to get out of the habit of coffee. I really enjoy white tea with pear, and I'm having great enjoyment from trying others as well. One of my other favourites is spearmint , which is an ingrdient in "Celestial brand Sleepy Time Tea." Would you like to share a cup? :)

One note on chamomile tea: If you are allergic to ragweed, you should stay away from chamomile as it is a cousin of ragweed. Drinking chamomile tea will be anything but soothing or relaxing.

I find the Celestial Seasonings Peppermint tea to be very refreshing but a caution to not steep the bag more than a couple minutes or it will be far too strong. The blueberry blends are also good.

Another good brand has been Yogi Teas.

I do drink homemade cinnamon stick tea both hot and cold. I love it and it has antioxidants that help you out asa well. i have also developed a hot chocolate drink mix that has nonfat dry milk, unsweetened cocoa, coffee creamer and splenda it is wonderful when i use the cinnamon tea to make it.

My best girlfriend of 30 odd years always has a cup of tea a couple of hours before bed she swears by it.

i think i will begin to do that there must be something to it, she has done it for years.

Thanks for the suggestions about the herbal tea at bedtime. I am trying to lose at least thirty more pounds so that I can feel more better physically. I get very hungry at bedtime and here lately have been eating yogurt, pudding and sometimes peanuts.

Tea is good for your health. Chamomile tea is my all time favorite, it's like a wonderful treat any time of the day or night. Helps to reduce stress, promote relaxation and restful sleep. I am using a new brand of tea called http://www.talbottteas.com/, its good and I am liking its different flavors.
