Losing Weight - with Spirit and Inspiration (DAY SEVEN)

Wednesday January 7, 2009

As much as we need food to nurture our bodies and minds, we need emotional and spiritual food for the psyche and soul, too.  It may seem odd, but to lose weight and maintain healthy changes, make sure to nourish your inner being on a daily basis.  Read a religious or spiritual passage every day for reminders

Taking time to contemplate God by reading a special spiritual passage is time well spent.  You will be reminded that your Creator loves you.  You will again be assured that you are a valuable part of this world, and that everything is all right.  Reading regularly is also a way to learn new things about yourself, others, and the world.

An easy way to get a daily spiritual reading is through the Internet.  It's free, too.  Try Beliefnet.com first! Just to get you started, there is:

Prayer of the Day
Christian Quotes
Meditations

There are many more on the Internet to find as well.  www.BibleGateway.com is a favorite of mine.  It's a great idea to subscribe to a daily email inspirational passage or quote service, like mine! Click "Weight Loss with Norris"

Books, too are great - let's not forget.  Read a passage from the Bible, or the Holy Koran, Bhagavad Gita, Tao Te Ching or book that you feel inspired by.  Go to a library or bookstore today, and often.

Finally, taking your mind off your problems or challenges, even for only a few minutes to read a meaningful passage, is time you're not suffering but learning ways that God is there to help you find your way, always, in all ways.
