Vanity Fair's October issue contains its annual list of "the world's most powerful people," 100 of the bankers and media moguls, publishers and image makers who shape the lives of "billions." A Jewish editor in Chicago has decided to count the number of Jews. It tops fifty percent. At a time when two writers seem to have a blockbuster book on their hands pointing out that the Jewish lobby is really powerful in Washington, now a Jewish editor is pointing out that the Jews do, indeed, have a disproportianate amount of control over media and banking in America. It's embrace your stereotype month! Women and blacks have been doing it for years. Why not Jews?!
It's an exclusive, insular club, one whose influence stretches around the globe but is concentrated strategically in the highest corridors of power.Even the scholar Ruth Wisse gets in a quote.More than half its members, at least by one count, are Jewish.
It's a list, in other words, that would have made earlier generations of Jews jump out of their skins, calling attention, as it does, to their disproportionate influence in finance and the media. Making matters worse, in the eyes of many, would no doubt be the identity of the group behind the list - not a pack of fringe anti-Semites but one of the most mainstream, glamorous publications on the newsstands.
Yet the list doesn't appear to have generated concern so far, instead drawing expressions of satisfaction and pride from the lone Jewish commentator who's responded in writing.
Published between ads for Chanel and Prada, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, it's the 2007 version of "The Vanity Fair 100," the glossy American magazine's annual October ranking of the planet's most important people. Populated by a Cohen and a Rothschild, a Bloomberg and a Perelman, the list would seem to conform to all the traditional stereotypes about areas of Jewish overrepresentation.
Joseph Aaron, the editor of The Chicago Jewish News, thinks it's a list his readers should "feel very, very good about."
"Talk about us being accepted into this society, talk about us having power in this society," Aaron wrote this week, in apparent reference to Jewish life in the United States. "Talk about anti-Semitism being a thing of the past, talk about Jews no longer needing to be afraid to be visible and influential."
The magazine's limited definition of power, then, constitutes areas in which Jews have long excelled, often by necessity, says Ruth Wisse, a professor of Yiddish and comparative literature at Harvard University.In her most recent book, Jews and Power, Wisse accounts "for the achievement of Jews through the centuries," describing it, she says, "as a consequence of their having to develop their powers of adaptation to an extraordinary degree."
But while they've excelled disproportionately in areas such as business and medicine, they've often also limited themselves - or been limited to - fields not connected to the public exercise of power.

Joseph Aaron, editor of Chicago Jewish News, if I am reading his quote correctly, states that Jews are accepted in society. What??? Since when? There will come a time when the whole world will hate Jews with a vengeance, and do battle against them. After a time the Messiah will intervene and the Jews will be saved. They will be high and mighty. Even now G_d intervenes and has mercy upon them. Maybe that's the reason many Jews are in high places. Or maybe their strength comes from the atrocities committed upon them and the hatred formed against them. More power to the chosen people. Many Christians like myself have an instintive and holy love for the people of Israel. I feel sorry for those who have only hatred in their hearts for the Jews. Pray for the peace of Israel.

It's amazing how effective legal racism can be. Christian white nation states are evil racists. Jewish white nation states like Israel practice religion. White pride is racism. Jewish pride is religion. Too many whites (more than 80%) is racism. Too many Jews, (more than their 2%) is proof of their intelligence, success, and rewards from a God who has chosen his race. That is rule of racism, not rule of law.
Whites born of a white mother are racists. Jews born of a Jewish mother are a religion. Funneling money to a Whites Only country club would be racism. Funneling money to a Hebrews Only or Jews Only nation state like Israel is religion.
Jewish racism is protected as a religion. Christianity and white success is attacked as racism, and outlawed in America by race and gender quotas. Jews are successful because their racism is a religion, protected by government. The only group that can challenge Jews, the Christian whites, are outlawed, by legal racism and gender bias as "affirmative action". Why are there 10,000 Russian Communist Jews here in Minneapolis, to retire, and live off the land as refugees, getting more benefits than my father, who paid in his whole life?
Hitler legally favored white Germans. America legally favors Jews, Hebrews, and Zionists, in Israel. When your group is legally favored it is hard not to be successful. It also always leads to war.
Why do they hate us? Any group, Germans, Jews, Christians, Israelis, Whites, are hated when they take more than their numbers justify. Jews are two per cent taking fifty per cent. It is only logical that any group who takes more than their numbers justify are hated. Palestinians are not attacking Israeli Zionists because Israelis are sharing food and water. Israeli Zionists are hated for the same reason Nazis were hated, for invading, killing, stealing, taking too much, and lying about it.
Why do they hate us? Look in the mirror and you will find the answer.

You need to write your own blog or a book. What you have said hits the nail of this issue right on the head. Having just returned from Europe I was privy to several private meetings among top investment advisers. Among them there is a growing concern that this concentration of influence and money in America within a single ethnic, minority religious group echoes the sequence of events that led to the turning of a blind eye to the atrocities that accompanied WWII. Political correctness dictates that we not talk about the hard feelings generated by the disproportionate consolidation of wealth with the European Jews during the time of hyper-inflation and hardship in the Weimar Republic but it existed nonetheless.
Correspondingly, there can be no sympathy generated when the list of people populating the top echelons of influence responsible for the current financial meltdown, the recipients of taxpayer bailout funds and the bungling attempts at the solution of these problems are disproportionately Jews. Just as how anti-Americanism goes hand-in-hand with the lopsided usage of resources world-wide, anti-Semitism has no choice but to rise with the continued consolidation of influence into the hands of the "chosen" 2%.
There is a solution, in my opinion, that has worked very well for higher education in this country. Create affirmative action quotas designating percentages of the population of these higher influential offices to the corresponding percentages of the ethnic population of the country. Of course this will result in the acquiescence and redistribution of power so will never happen.
The only recourse is then, as you say, to look in the mirror.

What you are witnessing is old-fashioned racism. The Jews are excelling because they are following the WORD of G-D more devoutly and diligently, and from that comes success.
You are envious and spiteful! The jews have been trampled on for over 3,000 years, sold into slavery and yet we see myopic viewpoints regurgitated like ancient vomit. Yes, Jews must try hard, they must excel so they can send money back to Israel. Did they want to live in Europe and other places? NO. They were sold into slavery and scattered and slaughtered.
And as for the Palestinians, there is no such thing. The term Palestina comes from the Romans who slaughtered the Jews, particularly during 70AD when they attacked Jerusalem and killed 600,000 Jews living in their own Jewish city!
After the Bar-Kokhba revolt of the Judeans and the subsequent Roman repression and exile, the Romans renamed the entire district of Judea "Palaestina".

Oh and if you should happen to look out over Jerusalem and you see that pretty Golden Building smack dab in the middle of the Holy City... That is not a Jewish building, it is a MOSQUE! Wake UP!
