The Man Who Started It All
In WALKING THE BIBLE, he's still sitting there forever, behind a cloud of smoke, saying, "People like me don't have time to talk to people like you," then calling me at home that night to introduce me to Avner. Now, nearing 100, he has finally passed.Avraham Biran, an archaeologist of biblical site

Feiler Faster in Denver -- Final Thoughts
The last of my brother's blogs.

I was on the floor the other day and came across a man of about forty who wore on his left breast what looked like a military medal. A small ribbon pinned to his chest with a medallion hanging from it. It was the credential that his grandfather wore at the 196

Considering I described myself yesterday as a pop culture moron, the funniest response I've gotten so far was, "Who's Angela Bassett?"
In the wake of opening night there's been a lot of play about Carville and

Israel is not likely to take on Iran without definite American support. Iran is not 1981 Iraq. It would jeopardize its relations with its neighbors, including Turkey. It would also destabilize the region beyond recent history, making every Israeli and their govt’s and businesses holdings targets. In contrast, the entire region would sympathize with Iran.
As for the presence of military grade nuclear enrichment, neither America nor Israel are credible sources of intel for anything regarding Iran. But America is showing that no treaty, NPT, or law, or bond is worth the paper its written on when it comes to America in the Middle East.

Good Blog, Thank you, I see a glimmer of hope in these words…

I agree, Mr. Feiler.
I’ve been lurking on your blog for some time and hope you will start getting more comments. Perhaps you make too much sense — not controversial enough! LOL.
Iran is such a complex society. I am aware that many Iranians are mortified by the words and actions of their current President, and will never forget the spontaneous vigils in support of America after 9/11.
I believe a nuclear Iran is in no one’s interest, but the military option as a last resort is no longer an effective deterent when it ceases to be used as a last resort.
(A friend of mine thinks the issue is one of fairness — ie. the U.S. has nuclear power and weapons, so why shouldn’t Iran, etc. I think it is a question of non-proliferation, though I realize that some countries seek weapons as a deterent. The more nuclear technology and fuel proliferate, the greater the chance of somebody starting World War 3.)

Military action is the last resort of diplomacy, but it is diplomacy.

on PBS NewsHour last night Fareed Zakaria and the editor of Commentary Magazine (blanking on his name) went head to head over this issue. I am a huge fan of Fareed’s… unfortunately i think his debating partner had him flustered with all talk of “islamofascism” and comparing Iran to Hitler’s Germany… you can download the segment or read the transcript here (sorry to plug newshour on your blog) http://www.pbs.org/newshour
i thought Fareed had some great points about using deterrence and mentioned our use of the strategy with Mao, who was much worse than Ahmadenijad…

Zakaria went head with Podhoretz.
I can’t believe we’re even having this discussion about war with Iran. Israelis are so irrationally paranoid. Their media (and the media of the US) brainwashes them to feel absurd levels of fear. I note that Ha’aretz and the Jpost always have a section of their websites entitled “Iranian Threat.”
Brainwashing 101.
