Fresh Morning: A Greet-the-Day Meditation

posted by hrossi | 5:00am Wednesday April 8, 2009

sun1.jpgThanks to Fresh Living reader Mary Beth for sharing her inspiring morning routine: she wakes up around 4 a.m., starts the
coffee, drinks a large bottle of room temperature water, feeds her
cats, and enjoys a cup of hot coffee as she starts her computer.

She then put son some meditative music, lights some incense and 2 candles, and meditates over one of the candles. “I stare at the light and I think to
myself, ‘I am breathing in, I am breathing out.’ Since I am really a newbie to meditation, this helps to center me.”

She then draws an Angel Oracle Cards from a deck called “Healing with the Angels.” She says, “I draw
one or two cards that the angels have ‘picked’ for me to help guide me
through my day. After that, I reflect on their messages, and journal
about them. This helps me to stay focused and really sets the tone for a
fabulous day. This is all happening as my husband, and the rest of my world is
fast asleep. Just time me and myself, and my spiritual journey.”

Thanks for sharing, Mary Beth!

Do you start your day with a spiritual practice?

Waking Up to Your Dreams (by Wendy Schuman)
Are you a frustrated dreamer? I know I am. I often wake up with fragments of scenes echoing in my mind that seem really meaningful--but then I leap out of bed, start my morning routine, and in seconds they're gone. I want to linger in that realm and tap into the guidance and insight rising from a wi

In addition to co-writing this blog and working at Beliefnet full-time, I'm writing a book. I start and end my day with a prayer. In addition with prayer,i am
doing my 40 days spiritual journey by following the book i have
borrowed from my friend, this book will guide me to the journey to
a purpose driven life by Rick Warren.I put record of the daily
reading i have read starting from my first day until i will finish
my 40 days journey of spiritual enlightenment to my journal.40 days
as explained by the author is used because it is copied from the 40
days and nights that Jesus Christ spent for fasting at the Mount
Horeb before His crucifixion so 40 is very significant in taking
spiritual journey to discover and learn the truth of a purpose
driven life.I am doing this because of my drive and continous seek
of the truth of my being,i refuse to live and think that i am exist
ing without discovering, learning, proving, examining my purpose and
understand every detail of my experience may it good or bad events
of my life.By doing this,i hope and i pray that i will be able
to define my life in God’s point of view, after i will finish my
40 days of reading, reflection and meditation of what the author is
trying to teach his readers,i shall be able to grow more spiritually
and get more ready to what my life will bring me today and in the
future.I do not stop seeking for truth, for growing all aspects of my
life, physically, mentally and spiritually, for we have the responsibility and obligation to fulfill God’s words for it is
written that”Man do not live by bread alone but by words of God
that preceedeth from thy mouth.”I am doing my best to fulfill God’s
purpose and delight to my life in the best way i can.

I wake up at 6:00am and directly proceed to my meditation. I feel a vase with water, light a white candle and incense and follow the “Change your aura, Change your life” Barbara Martin meditation. I start by setting up a protection, checking the chakras and calling for different rays of light to cleanse, protect, reenergize, calm, etc…my aura. This lasts up to an hour and sets the perfect tone for a positive day. What I mean by that is that no matter what the day may bring, it helps me remain open minded and positive about it allowing me to “handle things with dignity”. I’ve found that when you connect with the universe, it immediately connects with you and starts ‘winking’ at you with subtle messages. Regular meditation allows you to better get these messages.
