How to Celebrate ‘Feel Better Day’

posted by hrossi | 3:01pm Monday April 13, 2009

Celebrate_Icon12768.jpgDon’t you love random “holidays?” Things like “Happy Hump Day” or “It’s my half-birthday” are really just excuses to declare to the world, “I want to feel good today!”  But they do the trick, and I think we need more of them.  Starting with “Feel Better Day,” that day when you realize after a cold or a migraine or a stomach bug or a depression that your energy is coming back, your life force hasn’t abandoned you, you’re ready to re-emerge from the sick bed and walk the land of the living.

It’s been a rough winter for us here at Fresh Living.  Valerie and I
have both had multiple bouts of sinus, bronchial, tonsil, and other
respiratory problems.  Each symphony of tissues, soup, salt water gargling,
and antibiotics, seemed to last forever.  Today, as the sun is shining, the windows are open, and both of
us are starting to emerge from our latest (and hopefully last)
episodes, feels like a perfect “Feel Better Day.”

So, here, in acrostic form (Why not? It’s a holiday!) are ways to celebrate “FBD,” projecting into the world the relief, joy, and energy that you feel when you finally feel better.

F – Freshen your surroundings; wash blankets, bedding, surfaces until they’re clear and clean.
E – Exercise your body and feel your heart pumping strong and steady.
E – Eat a seasonal, healthy meal as reward to your body for getting better.
L – Light a candle (soy or beeswax, please!) and meditate on your reunion with health.

B – Breathe deeply and rejoice at the vibration of a clear, full, healthy breath.
E – Experience fortifying, soothing essential oils like rose, lavender, and linden flower.
T – Thank those who brought you soup, sent kind emails, or just listened to you whine.
T – Turn on the radio and sing out loud, celebrating the power of your voice.
E - Engage your life; reconnect with your friends, clear your email in-box, declare, “I’m back!”
R – Ritualize the moment–say a prayer or mantra, toss the tissues, or create your own.

Waking Up to Your Dreams (by Wendy Schuman)
Are you a frustrated dreamer? I know I am. I often wake up with fragments of scenes echoing in my mind that seem really meaningful--but then I leap out of bed, start my morning routine, and in seconds they're gone. I want to linger in that realm and tap into the guidance and insight rising from a wi

Why not start your FBD day (and every other day) with a big hug and bountiful thanks to our ever-loving Lord for all of your blessings – your health, home, work, another chance to do something helpful for someone else. Are you experiencing tough circumstances in these difficult times? There are still innumerable things to be thankful for.
Can you see, hear, feel, touch, taste? Get in the habit of thanking Him for ALL of your blessings. And give even some small purposeful act of kindness to someone else. Don’t dwell on what you don’t have. I guarantee you will soon recognize His healing and overwhelming abundance in your life. Hang in there, He will want to know you’re sincere!

Curl up with a book, or just go volunteering. Spend time with family, try a new dish. Book your tickets. Hit the travel button. Network online. And think positive.

When I feel blah and tending toward the negative I focus my thoughts on gratitude. Even things like “I’m so greatful I can see!” the basics of sight, hearing (which I’m hard of hearing but I’m so glad I can hear what I do) smell, taste, touch. Moving on to bigger things. With this I’m directed towards the abundance around me and the beauty of the moment and the future. Right now I know a woman who lives near me. She is pretty much living out her days with brain cancer. Her love of the moment and her focus on the positive is inspiration. Through some tears of sadness I’m directed when I think of her to the biggest thought of living life fully and the gratitude that I have health. The problems of the day need not apply to my joy!

Hey everyone, On my feel better days I smile the biggest smile I have and say Thank-you Lord for each and every bit of my Happiness around me! I have sooo very much to be so Thankful for and its the little things we have every day and take for granted, sometimes. But there are many people around us that dont even have the simple things ,we take for granted each day.Such as:warm home, comfortable surroundings, people that love and depend on us,food to eat,a bed to even wake up in,or anyone that cares if we wake up or not.no matter how bad and rough we think we have it,look around there is always someone to help that is alot worse off than we are. It makes you more thoughtful and thankful for what we have and forget to notice or take for granted sometimes, but I try to remind myself to always be Thankful, because it can all be gone quick as we had it,without our control, and without notice. Always remember to help the less fortunante,we can be them at anytime,so dont take anything for granted that I dont have to be thankful or even care it will always be there, not true, Nothing is garanteed, except GODS love, when we ask for it and want it, it will be there now and forever!! I also take my dog for a long walk, that helps brighten my day after walking through neighborhood and saying good morning to a few people! “we are blessed every day-God see’s to that” bye for now: Bonnie A.
