I just got back from a doctor’s office where I enjoyed an ancient (I think from 2006) issue of Real Simple. In the magazine was a terrific tip that I thought was worth sharing as we head into prime outdoor meal season.
The idea was to go to the drugstore or Target/Wal-Mart/etc and pick up a bunch of inexpensive colored Frisbee discs. The more colors you can find, the more festive your picnic blanket will become.
Here’s the clever part–snap your paper plates inside the Frisbees, and voila! You have a far sturdier surface on which to enjoy heavy pasta salads, burgers, and corn on the cob. Not to mention a major after-lunch Ultimate Frisbee tournament just waiting to happen….
Do you have ideas for making the most of your outdoor picnics? Please share!
