Farrah Fawcett: Last Rites

posted by hrossi | 10:40am Thursday June 25, 2009

Reports are spreading (the NY Daily News and ABC News so far) that “Charlie’s Angels” ’70s heartthrob Farrah Fawcett’s long struggle with cancer might be coming to an end.  News reports say that friends and family are gathering at her bedside, and that she’s been given the last rites by a Catholic priest.

It’s always a surreal sadness when a celebrity suffers and dies from an illness like cancer, which affects so many.  Do you have thoughts, reactions, or prayers to share?

UPDATE:  It appears that Farrah Fawcett has died.  Click here for her obituary on CNN.

Waking Up to Your Dreams (by Wendy Schuman)
Are you a frustrated dreamer? I know I am. I often wake up with fragments of scenes echoing in my mind that seem really meaningful--but then I leap out of bed, start my morning routine, and in seconds they're gone. I want to linger in that realm and tap into the guidance and insight rising from a wi

Prayer for the Gulf from the 13 Grandmothers
Because I lack an engineering degree and don't understand why we can't just stop this thing NOW with a 10-ton wad of gum or giant boulder or massive Q-tip, I'll share more spiritual wisdom from elders. This is from the beautiful, amazing International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers--they each

How Did You (or a Loved One) Heal from Cancer?
In addition to co-writing this blog and working at Beliefnet full-time, I'm writing a book. This is a tme to respect her family’s privacy. She is loved by so many. Sometimes to let her know that’s it’s okay to go… will lwt her go in peace at last. God will open his arms and let her in.

I grew up watching Charlie’s Angels and yes, Farrah Fawcett was my favorite angel. She’s a free spirit, one that would express herself through her paintings. Yes, she was known for being a great actor, but I do hope that her paintings bring her spirit back to life. I’m sad that she’s losing her battle with cancer and I will truly miss her. God Bless You Farrah!

I also grew up watching Charlie’s Angels and considered Farrah one of my favorite actresses not only from Charlie’s Angels but also from her work in Small Sacrifices and the Burning Bed, as two that come to mind right now. I will miss her and hope that her final hours are peacefull and free of pain with her loved one around her. I know she’ll go straight into our Lord’s loving Hands when her time is up here on earth.

I always admired Farrah. Just her pleasant smile and her vibrant personality on Charlies Angels told us the person she was. She was so natural and a beautiful lady. For all who knew her was honored to be in her life. I am saddened by her passing, but God always picks the sweet roses.

I feel so sorry for Ryan and there son, I do hope the son is allowed to go to the funeral. When Ryan rode away from the hospital told the reporters that she had died, the look on his face was one of shock and sadness.
She was a wonderful actress.
