I snapped this in a New York City subway station recently. It’s Urdhva Dhanurasana, the full wheel pose in yoga–or just a backbend in gymnastics. It’s a pose I’ve been struggling with lately so a friend reminded me to just breathe and be gentle because it’s a tough pose–you open your belly, your heart, exposing your most vulnerable physical and emotional self. Which means it’s tough to do, but beautiful to look at. To admire a heart shining out.

Wow, this is great inspirational art! Makes me want to make sculptures of tiled yoga pose animals.
