Check out this lil video on compassion. It’s actually a promo for Marc Ian Barasch’s book, “The Compassionate Life.” Its few words speak so profoundly, for example: “When I acknowledge my own pain I am much less squeamish about drawing nearer to yours.” The uncomfortable, awakening truth of that line makes my heart ache, sweetly. Cute animals are also involved.

Valerie, thank you so much for posting this. I met Marc last year and have been looking forward to reading his book, and having seen this video, I will make an effort to purchase his book right now.
One of my favorite quotations is “With compassion for others, our own wounds are healed,” by Chungliang Al Huang, and I wish all of us could really grok that…
Always hope,
Lori
P.S. Thanks too for making me smile with your remark about cute animals.
