The great Lena Horne died yesterday at age 92, God bless her jazzy, sultry voice and perfectly pearly teeth. In memory of her, please enjoy this moving, beautiful rendition of “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” sung on Sesame Street to cheer up a rather glum Kermit the Frog.
“Green is the color of spring, and green can be cool and friendly-like….”
R.I.P. Lena Horne.

Lena Horne, exquisite beauty, huge talent, fierce advocate in her beliefs, feisty and sassy, who stood up for what was right when it wasnt the popular thing to do. As a kid, I thought she was the most beautiful woman and still do. She had class and courage and I admired her walk through a time when black america was being treated very badly. She stood strong in her convictions and that was admirable. Lena, we will miss you.

I too felt in early childhood that the elegant legend that is Lena was the most beautiful and still do. What a loss but I am forever thankful that I can say that I am familiar. I also will always remember her as Glinda in the Wiz.
