Romney releases anti-gay marriage ad in Iowa

posted by dgilgoff | 7:27pm Tuesday September 18, 2007

Who was it that predicted a few weeks ago that a ruling by a Polk County, Iowa judge would turn into a gift for Mitt Romney? Oh, right—that was God-o-Meter! Romney is out with a new radio ad in Iowa rehashing his fight against same-sex marriage as governor of Massachusetts, where the state supreme court legalized gay unions in 2003. For all the unremitting punditry on how Romney’s Mormonism and his formerly liberal social stances will prevent him from picking up serious evangelical support, no other top-tier GOP candidate has been half as persistent or disciplined about courting such voters. This ad is step #768 in the Romney camp’s 1,200-step program for winning over skeptical religious conservatives.

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states: Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

A Post-Election Chat with Ralph Reed
Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year. Mitt Romney, walks the talk! Yes he is a Mormon, but that should be a positive attribute in his campaign, for those looking for honesty and integrity! He has the leadership and ability to “fix problems”…..one only need look at what he did to clean up the Olympic Games; and how he formed the Banes Corporation to help floundering corporations.Look at what he has done for the State of Massachusetts. Mr. Romney has a good track record in business ethics and abilities; in stability in his own personal life. He lives what he believes, and has the discipline to do for America what needs to be done to get us back on track.
We are a great nation! We were established upon the foundation of a belief in God….a God in whom we trust will guide us and direct us…if we are listening and if we have place in our lives for Him! Mitt Romney is a God-believing person, and he not only believes in God, but he believes Him…..God will bless this nation, but not if we turn a deaf eart to Him, or are hypocritical in our beliefs!
