Hillary’s New “Values” Ad

posted by dgilgoff | 6:34pm Thursday December 13, 2007

The alert about Hillary Clinton’s new Iowa TV ad landed in God-o-Meter’s inbox by way of Hillary’s “Faith, Family, and Values” team. It’s by no means faith-based. But the spot does features Clinton’s mom, Dorothy Rodham, talking about “what a good person” her daughter is, including this unusual line: “She never was envious of anybody.” Envy. One of the seven deadly sins, of course, and one of the negative characteristics that Clinton is trying to convince voters she lacks–as in calculating and smarmy, with the White House in her sights since grade school. As the Clinton campaign tries to soften her image in the weeks before the primaries, God-o-Meter suspects that more values ads are a comin’.9

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. But the burgeoning religious left, which worked so hard to get Obama elected, expects some movement on its issues, including a robust White House office of faith-based initiatives, pove

Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states: Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year. Mrs. Rodham,
How come you don’t call yourself by your maiden name?
Mrs. Rodham, the more I listen to your daughter speak, the more she sounds like the Marxist-socialist that she is accused of being by her opponents. She sounds like she is going to tax my family into subsistance living and dependence on goverment handouts. This has shown to be a bad way of living for common people in every communist country in history. The Republicans, seem to want to allow me to make my life what I can make of it, and offer me and my children freedom to do so. Your daughter will not allow me to leave my hard earned money to my children when I die. She demands to be the person to handle my estate and not my own children. I have to share with “The State” what I have earned in my life? That is a horrible thing your daughter wants to do to my family after I die. I cannot ever support an person like that.
I think giving your belongings and money to your own children when you die is what freedom is all about. Your daughter seems to want to rule our country and dictate to everyone but the extremely rich – who will never be hurt by the high taxation your daughter believes in – how she will allow them to live.
I’m sorry mam, I will never vote for your daughter Mrs “Rodham” Clinton.
I’m glad you’re proud of her.

This is a joke. It is sad Hillary that you have to bring your Mother into the campaign to tell people how nice you are. You are know to be a mean spirited vile person who only cares about your personal goal of achieving the presidency. My question to you is What will you do when you get there??? I have not heard any answers there but to make socialized medicine. I want to know your foreign policies and not how you are a female being attacked by your male oponents. Stop setting up your debates and go on and be questioned by Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh like the republican candidates have.

KathleenAZ, you seem to practice a double standard when it comes to comparing Hillary’s handling of her campaign to how “W” managed to snow this country into electing him not once, but twice!
“W’s” audiances were so obviously stacked with people who were planted to ask specific, mostly irrelevant questions. This enabled their candidate to avoid appearing like a complete dolt because he was able to have responses prepared. And only loyal supporters were allowed to even be present so he wouldn’t have to think on his feet (which he isn’t capable of doing anyway!) and respond with any degree of honesty to Americans who wanted to challenge his position on a wide range of issues. I’ve never seen any other candidate go to such lengths to avoid tough questions from regular people who just might disagree with him or her.
You honestly think Hillary allowing herself to be verbally bashed by the Hannity’s and Limbaugh’s of the world would be responsible. Those two hate mongers are just pitbulls for social conservatives who express their views through nonsensical rantings without giving their “guest” a chance to present their positions without being interrupted and judged before a complete thought can be expressed. They are notorious for twisting what people say and outright lying just to push their own political agenda. Fox News by the way should be renamed “Fox Neo-conservative Propaganda Machine for the Republican Party”. It’s not news, it’s propaganda pure & simple.
You sound concerned about what Hillary would do if she were to become president, as we all should. But I’m betting you supported GW Bush, so how has his performance as president worked out for ya? Those who were gullible enough to vote for him not once, but twice should do this country a favor and sit out the election in November.
