Huckabee To Stay Mum on Mitt's Mormonism

Wednesday December 5, 2007

Categories: Mike Huckabee

huckabee4.jpgIs Mike Huckabee being a class act by declining to say what many evangelicals like him feel about Mormon doctrines and beliefs? The Associated Press reports that Huckabee, an ordained Baptist preacher, won't say whether he believes Mormonism is a cult:

I'm just not going to go off into evaluating other people's doctrines and faiths. I think that is absolutely not a role for a president," the former Arkansas governor said during a week in which religion has become an important issue in the Republican presidential race, particularly in Iowa.

Many evangelicals, of course, do think Mormonism is a cult. But if Huckabee really wanted evangelicals to discount Romney's Mormonism as a factor in the race, why doesn't he come right out and say it? As in: "There are many good reasons not to vote for Mitt Romney, but the fact that he's a Mormon ain't one 'em." While God-o-Meter thinks that would be doing a service to the nation, it isn't holding its breath.

Still, it would be interesting to know if GOM is the only one who feels that Huckabee is subtly playing the Mormon card by juxtaposing Romney's faith to his own. Consider his remarks quoted in the same AP story:

"You know, I get all these questions about somebody else's religion. I only want to address the ones about my own, and I think some of those get a little bit almost unfortunately laborious because, you know, we ought to be talking about education and health care and energy independence and all these other things."

Not to mention Huckabee's TV ad. Again, why not just say that Mitt's Mormonism--as opposed to Huckabee's thoughts about Mitt's Mormonism--doesn't matter for the office he's seeking?

Huckabee says his faith "defines" him, yet he seems to get annoyed when ever anyone asks him about his faith and how it defines him as when he was recently asked how he viewed Creation in the schools.

Huckabee has been playing up religion and the "Mormon card" since he spoke at to Value Voters in DC and said we don't want somebody who "lip sync's" but who speaks the language.

He was asked by a CBS News reporter Brian Goldsmith whether Mormonism is a legitimate form of Christianity here's what he said....

CBSNews.com: Do you believe that Mormonism is a legitimate form of Christianity?

Mike Huckabee: You know, Mormonism is a faith that people adhere to. And I think people ought to respect anybody's faith. I am not all that familiar with the intricate details. I have enough trouble keeping up with my own faith. So, I do not spend lots of time trying to evaluate somebody else's."

Not familiar with the intricate details? This is Christianity 101 to most Southern Baptists.

He also said to a CBN reporter that he is unique qualifed as a Candidate because he has a theology degree and that will help in his handling of Islamofascism. He said,

"I truly understand the nature of the war that we are in with Islamo fascism. These are people that want to kill us. It’s a theocratic war. And I don’t know if anybody fully understands that. I’m the only guy on that stage with a theology degree....."

How is it that his theology degree uniquely helps him understand a Muslim in the Middle East but not a Mormom in the South West?

As a side note, it is an understandable political strategy. Huckabee knowingly winks at the Evangelicals as he says all of this. He's a master politician in the order of Bill Clinton. I'm waiting for the biting of the lower lip as he talks about Drummond case.

But all of this is not really relevant to the race as a whole, it's Huckabee's policies namely those on immigration and education that have me most concerned.

As governor he also opposed school vouchers for parents who want to send their child to a private or parochial school.

A Baptist minister, Huckabee said it would disturb him as a Christian to know public money would help fund private schools in a voucher system.

“If the state were to give you a voucher, then in essence the state would be funding a faith school and would have some control over that faith school. That’s problematic for me as a person of faith.”

That is a curious position given his endorsement of tuition scholarships for the children of illegals for college.

I guess compassion doesn’t extend to the religious parents who want to exit the godless public schools only to illegals who want to escape Mexico and become a burden on tax-paying parents here.

Is it any wonder why the NEA in New Hampshire endorsed him today along with Hillary Clinton? How is it that the liberal, anti-family values NEA has endorsed an evangelical Christian who is "one of us?"

This endorsement gives Huckabee the interesting distinction of having the endorsement of the most liberal education groups (NEA) and one of the most conservative education grous (HSLDA). He's a pulling a fast one on somebody somewhere. Do we want to wait until the White House to find out?

REVALATIONS,

I came across a web site a few day’s ago, www.churchexecutive.com , then today www.evangelicalsformitt.org . Both site revealed the Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee, is standing up for Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. Does he know the truth behind this ministry? Someone may need to send Huckabee a copy of this letter, and the following documentation.
Letter to,

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland,

Before knowledge of, KCM, BVOV, GLORIA’S HEALING SCHOOL, and EMIC, our lives were simple, and complete. Before BVOV, faith had no mathematical values, you was never told you had to little, or to much. Before BVOV, sickness was not blamed on lack of faith, nor finances. Before BVOV, rewording, or falsifying bible verses, well, before our knowledge of prosperity gospel (materialistic Christian belief: the doctrine taught in some Christian groups that God will grant wishes to the faithful, especially those wishes involving material wealth .Encarta ® World English Dictionary), this act was unheard of, tithes received during collection were used for the upkeep of our church, parsonage, cemetery, and exedra, the exedra was legit. Before BVOV, I had a mother, faith, finances, piece, and a belief in God I never questioned for there was no reason to. My personal thanks goes out to both you and Gloria, prosperity gospel truly is a life changing experience!
The first time I tried to contact (BVOV) was back in 2004, a few months after the death of my mother (Bonnie Parker) who was a long time partner of your ministry, since 1995 to be exact. That’s a lot of faithful years is it not. And now what began as a simple request for answers over two years ago, is now national news. Though I made many efforts to contact you, none of which were successful. (Mail, Email, , Phone, and even visiting Eagle Mountain Church personally) We were in Dallas for the filming of a documentary (Suffer the Children sufferthechildren.com)which was being funded, and produced by director Trever Glass. The film was to show, from the victims point of view, the tragic abuse, suffering , and fraudulent behaviors preformed by certain mega church ministers, mainly focusing on the prosperity gospel ministers. I was asked if I would like to visit EMIC, and take a tour of the massive facilities. Nervously I said yes. Was I finally going to be given the chance of speaking with either of you? With a copy of the original letter, and pictures of mom before, and after BVOV, tucked safely in our backpack we began the tour that would leave me with even more questions than answers. The tour guide was very nice, and very informative. She had not a clue that with every gloating word she spoke, I was fighting back the tears they were bringing. Were the trophies you have proudly displayed at EMIC, acquired on these trips? Did you pay to have them stuffed, or did the church catch that bill for you? There I was standing in the maculate office, (by the way, how much did that high dollar office furniture set you or the ministry back), of the very people I felt were most responsible for my mothers death. No you didn’t put a gun to her head, but your guidance did prove to seal her fate. I do highly recommend this tour to all your partners that contribute to this lifestyle you both so take advantage of. Nor you or Gloria were present the day we dropped by, but I left the letter, and photos with an employee of EMIC. John Copeland called me a few day’s after we toured EMIC, saying how sad I appeared in the video tapes that were recording our every move during our tour.. I was not sure what to say, a Copeland was on the other end, not the one I was hopping for but a Copeland. There was no way to explain to him the hurt I felt inside that not he but his parents created. The call was short, I basically said no comment, for their were no words to express the feelings I had at that moment! Perhaps the Copelands, Kenneth and Gloria, believed my accusations are unprecedented.. By giving me the chance of showing you in moms written proof I will be happy to reveal you the source of my accusations. Never less, no response lead me to believe neither of you have any remorse for their actions, and that you both must believe they had done no wrong. Personally, I could not live with myself after it was brought to my attention that the mere words coming from my mouth, could indeed cause someone to loose their life. Maybe, hopefully, someday sooner than latter, the dangers related to prosperity gospel will become clear to you both, until then God help us all.
Your problem now is, no longer am I the only one publicly asking for answers, you now have the whole United States of America awaiting to see how this Senate investigation unfolds. In February of this year WFAA News in Dallas broadcasted the findings of an investigation (by Brett Shipp) regarding the misuse of the ministry’s jet. I’m sorry but it is really hard to comprehend you and your wife going on vacation in a jet my mother paid for with her life. Just incase you missed the news broadcast, that was one comment I voiced loud and clear. After that news broadcast aired, I began relying on WWW.WFAA.COM for any new developments, or some kind of comment from anyone at BVOV, EMIC, or either of you personally. The broadcast received the same response that I had come to know all to well over the years, no response, from either of you. Being in the public eye I’m sure has it’s advantages and also disadvantages. You are looked up to by millions of people. It never crossed your minds that a tragedy such as my mom’s was a possibility? You take on a huge responsibility when you get in front of a camera, step onto a stage, and in the recordings of your tapes and cd’s, to each and every one who are watching and listening. Your words can, will , and have, become fatal, the question now is not will it happen again, but when, if your words go unchanged someone’s else’s death is inevitable. As for my family the damage is irreversible. The probe into your finances is long overdue. As for the ones already passed on, the bankrupt, the homeless, and the devastated lives your ministry has destroyed over the years, but it’s better late than never!! I’ve been told by some that my mothers story, and my persistence for the truth, played a part in the investigations into your finances. If so my objective is done. Showing the public the possible consequences in becoming involved with the prosperity gospel was my main objective!!!! As well as taking the tour of your ministries assets, your partners need to read for themselves, (anyone sending money to your ministry) the requests from the Senate related to your finances. I believe they also will have a few questions for you. Oh and the comment you made when caught off guard by the media, WFAA news, (you may view this on there web site), and are questioned about the misuse of the ministry’s jet, your comment was ”None of Your Business”, do either of you have the courage to look me in the eyes and say that to me? The cost we paid for that jet can never be repaid. Expenses that accrued during and after moms illness, left us with no choice but to take out a loan on our house, which was paid in full at the beginning of 2004. This was all to much for us to handle, we have struggled to make the note the last few years, but we can’t last much longer. So we are basically still paying for that jet, and the joyrides both of you take on it. When mom gave her life for your ministry, and now possibly our home will be lost also, I believe that gave us a right to know where the money goes. We did request a accounting of all mom’s contributions, several times, which I have enclosed in this letter, but yet again no response was given. Are either of you, seeing the pattern here? God knows we all, even both of you, make mistakes in life. The difference between both of you and us is plane as day, we know wrong from right! The good hearted, and the sincere, try to make amends for their mistakes, and are most likely forgiven, on earth and in heaven. It’s never to late to start this process. I on the other hand, will never be able to forgive, nor forget. We never asked to become involved with either of you, or your false, and dangerous ministry! Unwillingly, and unfortunately our lives crossed paths with the death of my mother, I can’t change that, but I wish I could!

Dear Kenneth and Gloria Copeland,
If you don’t all ready know me I’m Christian Beach granddaughter of Bonnie Parker. The girl who had to watch her grandmother go threw so much pain for her trust in god through you. You didn’t help her by telling her not to go to the doctor. No you told her that the doctor was the work of the devil. Yes I remember some of the stuff from your shows and CD’s. My grandmother would put so much of her money in to checks and some as just cash, so much in fact that I can’t even recall exact amounts. How exactly much does your healing cost, because my grandmother paid with her money and her life? I watch your shows, listened to your CD’s at the same time watched my grandmother slowly and painfully be killed by your word not God’s word your word!!! You can do what you want and say what you want but you can never be forgiven by me or my family for what you did to us. Don’t want the money she sent you back. I just want you to feel the pain that I have felt day after day since she died. How does it make you feel to take a nine year olds grandmother from her? Now the next time you are taking money out of letters and not even reading the at all, think of what you have done to our family by not reading my grandmothers!!! So the next your are flying around in your $20000000 JET, That my grandmother paid with her life!!!
Christian Beach

That letter was written by my daughter, which was nine when mom passed away. I did not encourage her to do this, she insisted. I want both of you to know what she, being a child went through. Mom entrusted her with portions of her involvement regarding both of you. She is just beginning to talk more about the secrets mom kept hidden away from all but her apparently. I have not questioned her about her relationship with mom, I simply let her talk about her memories, when she feels ready. The relationship mom and sissy(nickname), shared was like mine and my mothers. Why mom reviled things to her only, I guess will remain a mystery. Why her and not me, was it the fact she was just a child? When she speaks of listening to your material over and over, it just adds to the
many questions we have that you will not answer. Have these dangerous twisted words been implanted in her head also? The thought of this scares me to death. She as well as us suffered a terrible loss, but her more so. During the time mom was in the nursing home, most of our time was spent by her side. Even though she was just a few miles away from my home, we were not letting her be alone at all. I hired sitters to stay with her even when we were there, merely walking out of her room scared her. The staff at the home was kind, and tried filling her every need. Each one took her into there hearts, and visversa. We turned to family and friends to help keep our lives going outside the nursing home, which also turned out to be devastating. Christians step grandfather took advantage of what was already a bad situation, by putting his filthy hands on my child(sissy). He pleaded guilty, and is being punished for his actions! My point of telling you this is once again, letting you know just how much we have suffered. Had all our attention not been on mom, this surely could have been prevented!!!! Unbelievable that’s still not the end either. My brother Todd felt drugs would help him through all this hell, he was picked up for simple possession in September of 2004.To this day he still can’t talk about, or deal with the memories of her, bottles of whiskey took the place of drugs. Loosing him is now a huge possibility. Will it ever end?????

Request for the accounting of moms contributions.

Dear Kenneth and Gloria Copeland,
Shortly before my wife Bonnie Lynn Parker passed away, she assigned complete power of attorney to me. Both the power of attorney and her death certificate are enclosed herein. The immediate surviving family members are myself, my son Alvin Todd Parker, and my daughter Kristy Parker Beach, who you have met.
Please send us a record of any and all donations, contributions, investments, and/or any money or items she has sent the Kenneth Copeland Ministry, a d/b/a for Eagle Mountain International Church, Inc. We also request a copy of any and all of Bonnie’s correspondence with the ministry. This would include any notes, letters, emails, and/or phone calls to or from the ministry.
Please note that I have chosen Kristy Parker Beach to act on our behalf in this matter, when my signature is not required. Your lack of cooperation with my daughter has only caused more grief. We hope you will comply with this request in order to avoid any legal action necessary to obtain these requests.
Sincerely, Alvin Parker

This request was sent certified mail to KCM, and their attorneys. We received back where they signed for them, but no response came regarding our request.

The Senate Finance Committee is investigating the finances of six mega churches, but will this be enough to save lives? Looking into their finances should only be the beginning. By allowing these public roll models to get in front of a camera and silicate money for healing among many other guaranties is just simply wrong! Have there been any inquiries into how many deaths are related to this fraud? Freedom of religion, has become to some a death sentence. It has proven that Gloria’s Copeland’s Healing School being taught by Gloria herself , has students that fail costing them more than a suspension, it’s costing them their lives! Encouraging innocent people to take chances in life concerning their health should be illegal!!!!
Is there anyone out there who cares about the victims of this abuse?
Is there anyone who is willing to stand up for these victims?
Yes, finances are important, but a life taken by this fraud, can not be replaced!!!! Finances can!!!! Have we all forgotten what’s important, Wake up! It is not only about the money!!!! Anyone requesting proof of our accusation feel free to contact us.

Huckabee's pretended ignorance as to whether members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in Jesus Christ is especially offensive because it panders to the most intolerant of religious bigots among us and divides the Republican Party along secular lines. Webster's Dictionary simply defines Christian "as a person who believes in Jesus Christ and follows his teachings". That commonly accepted definition focuses on the individual's faith and is entirely consistent with Governor Romney's public statements and, indeed, with his record as a son, husband, father, person of faith, businessman and public leader. ALL Christian churches differ in theology to a greater or lesser extent, but that is no basis for disqualifying (or voting for) a candidate. Let God judge what's in our heart, not man. And please, let’s judge candidates for office by their character, experience and competence, not by their private religious beliefs. Is Mitt Romney a good man and qualified to serve as president? If yes, isn't that what matters?

One more thing. Huckabee actively campaigns/preaches in churches in order to play to his selected "Christian" base. (That appears to be a good short-term strategy in Ohio in light of Huckabee's less-than-conservative record on taxes, spending, crime, ethics and illegal immigration. But, will a "Christian" candidacy ever get him elected over Hillary?) Democrat candidates also commonly appear in churches to drum up support or to put on a pius facade. You will never find Mitt Romney campaigning in an LDS church because I understand that the LDS Church has strict prohibitions on the use of its facilities for any partisan purpose. The LDS Church stays out of politics and would no more endorse Romney or try to tell Romney how to govern than it would try to control Harry Reed (a liberal Democrat Mormon).

May God bless America to choose the right man for our time. I happen to believe that man is Mitt Romney.

P.S. I was deeply impressed and inspired by Mitt Romney's speech. He is obviously sincere about his faith, including his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior. Are we going to demand that Pastor Mike Huckabee answer doctrinal questions (and more) when the secular media and Democrats turn their negative attention to him? Don't you see that political infighting on strictly religious grounds opens the doors to the secular left to completely take control of our country? Mitt Romney is a good man of faith who is also a brilliant manager and leader. He should not be torn down by those who share his best values. I see him as the only candidate with a chance to defeat Hillary Clinton. Not only that, he would be a great president.

Will the religious organizations in America stand up and speak out for the lest among us?

Our forgotten American Citizens

"Whatever you do unto the lest of these, you do unto me". - Quote from the Bible
______________________________________________________________________
My question for the presidential candidates is:
As president of the USA, what would you do to bring the senior citizens and children out of poverty?

I’m sure that you’re well aware that millions of our seniors and children live a terrifying life in poverty.
____________________________________________________________________
"Poverty is the worst form of violence." - Mohandas Gandhi
_______________________________________________________________________
The Senior Citizens are not leaving our grandchildren IOU’s. This kind of mentality is driving a wedge between the generations. Guess it was inevitable…One sure thing - the Bible teaches that "children will rise up against their parents and parents will rise up against their children". The sad thing about this wedge is that it’s all lies and propaganda, generated by our elected officials.
The truth is our elected officials choose to rape the Social Security fund in order to - tear down, blowup and then rebuild foreign countries (all with the blood of our children, our husbands, our fathers). Our elected officials choose to fund other countries with the Social Security fund. Our elected officials choose to use the Social Security fund to fund the illegal immigrates - slave labor for the rich. Our elected officials choose to use the Social Security fund to OPEN our borders, thus allowing terrorist a free pass into our country. The illegals walk across our borders every day and bring their children to sit in our classrooms and obtain a free education. Our elected officials are well aware of this, they invite it, they welcome it. Our elected officials raid the Social Security fund to ensure that the criminals have a bed to sleep in, food to eat, clothes to wear, all the medical care they need – all of this is a constitutional right for the criminals. Millions of our legal seniors and children don’t have a constitutional right to shelter, food, clothing or medical care. Millions of our legal seniors and children live a terrifying life of poverty.
What could you afford if your income was only $400 to $1100 per month?
Our elected officials pit the younger generation against their grandparents and parents with lies.
Our elected officials are the one’s that are handing IOU’s to our children, just like they handed the IOU’s to our parents and grandparents.
I ask you – what kind of nation would allow the elected officials to boldly raid and take from their Senior Citizens?

Some say other countries have committed genocide. What would you call a slow, degrading death of millions of our seniors and children that live in poverty?

"A nation that won’t take care of their "legal" elderly and children, is not much of a nation."

Our elderly are the forgotten Americans. (Our parents and grandparents)

We’re to old and frail to march the streets of Washington and our voices are now too weak for the politicians to hear.

Will you stand up and help the seniors and children that live in poverty? Will you increase the senior’s SS checks to the point that they can live in dignity and not have to choose between food, shelter, medicine and clothing? Seniors can't live on $400 - $1100 per month. All the seniors and children need free health care and medicine. We can’t live on promises with NO results.

When will the politicians / candidates turn their attention to the AMERICAN CITIZENS and our needs. All we hear is Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq and any foreign country. We need leaders that will work for the American citizen, not fund the foreign countries with our taxes and our sons/daughters blood.

How does a Nation justify free and total care, (food, housing, utilities, medical, clothing, everything that’s needed) (and a Constitutional right at that) to criminals, but allow their elderly and children to suffer and die in poverty. What kind of nation would do this? Our USA is doing this.
If you REALLY care about our seniors and children that live in poverty, then PLEASE STAND UP and speak out LOUDLY about it. PLEASE get out there and fight for the ones that can’t fight for themselves. PLEASE condemn the 2.3% raise in Social Security for 2008 and demand that our Social Security be increased to a level that will provide a life of dignity. Let them know that our seniors can’t survive on this.
You never know, maybe 30 to 40 million seniors would cast their vote for someone that has the backbone to take a stand for them.

Our elected officials don’t seem to be aware of (or don’t care) the conditions that millions of our seniors have to live in.
I pray and hope that all will read this and will think about the large percentage of our Senior citizens that live a terrifying and degrading life of poverty. I also hope all of you will give your parents and grandparents a big hug and let them know you love them.
Many of our seniors and children in America live in poverty and I’ve never heard any of our politicians or candidates speak out or stand up for our seniors. It’s like we don’t exist. We’re the forgotten ones.
Health care and medicine should be totally free to our seniors and children without the degrading stigma of welfare/state Medicaid and food stamps. Our social security checks should be at least twice as much as it is now or at least $2400 per month. How do we live on a 2.3% increase; the lowest in 4 years.
My social security check is small and I, like millions of seniors, have to choose between food, medicine, shelter and clothes.
What could you afford if your income was only $400 to $800 per month (after deducting Medicare premiums that’s automatically deducted from our social security checks? Not to mention that Medicare only covers one physical in a lifetime (and that has to be completed within the first 6 months) and a few days in a hospital (Medicare doesn’t pay for much). Medicaid, food stamps and welfare are degrading. (Don't believe me, try going to a gro. store and paying for your gro. with food stamps or go to the doc. office and tell them you're on Medicaid. Believe me you will feel the silent degrading, not to mention that some don't take medicaid people). We should not have to live our life without dignity.
I’m sure that you and I pray that you will never know the terror and degrading feelings that millions of seniors and children must live every day.
I don’t understand a nation that allows millions of their seniors and children to live and die in poverty.
Our leaders should be ashamed that they have allowed millions of our seniors and children in America to have to live in what seems to them a 3rd world country. We know what it's like to live in this kind of terror, we live it every day. Our leaders have failed us and I don’t think they care. They vote themselves pay raises…to include full funded health care at the tax payers expense, without any thought of the poorest among us (they don’t even think about us, they don’t care if we die) and they call it democracy, I don’t think so. If they can’t live on less than $12,000 per year, neither can we."American poverty is as real to these as African poverty is as real to the African impoverished ones." We don’t have to go to Africa to find poverty; it’s all around you, in America.
______________________________________________________________________
Suggestions on ways that our government could
pay for lifting our seniors and children out of the pits of poverty and death:

1. Stop rebuilding/supporting other countries. Our government needs to take care of our own people, our citizens. Our government is building /feeding / housing / securing foreign countries and their people while a large percentage of the USA citizens in America live in poverty. Our seniors and children are suffering while our taxes are being used to build foreign countries. Countries that usually turn against us.

2. Add a 1% to 5% Fed. sales tax on all sales (this would probably pay for all the increase and everyone would be contributing).

3. Take the cap completely of the amount of income that Social Security is withheld on. Social Security should be collected on ALL income, wages, capital gains, business income, ALL income.

4. Stop allowing deductions to all charities that are not given to the USA citizens (we should feed and care for our citizens before we funnel it to foreign countries).

5. Stop giving free health care, welfare, and etc. to illegals. The illegals are criminals; they broke our laws by entering our country illegally. They should be deported. Enforce our laws; support our border patrol; get our soldiers out of Iraq and Korea, put them on our, USA, borders.
Illegal immigrants = slave labor and slave labor is illegal…..Isn’t it? Or has that law changed?

6. Criminals should have to pay for their stay in jail, to include medical care, shelter, food, etc. Or they should be drafted into the military and placed on the front lines; if they want to fight, then let them fight for a good cause. (The cost of housing a criminal per year is about $35,000 +) (Seniors and children are not criminals but our government believes we can survive on much less). When will our American leaders wake up and value their seniors and children more than they value a criminal. We haven’t committed any crimes, yet we must choose between food, medicine, shelter and clothes. The seniors and the children can’t fight for themselves. Criminals in jail don’t have to choose between food, medicine, shelter and clothes; they have a constitutional right to all this, free to them at the taxpayers expense. Our government is sending a message to the criminal that crime pays. I know they don’t have their freedom, but the seniors don’t either, because we can’t afford it.
Aren’t the seniors and children more valuable to our country than the criminals?

7. Stop giving free money to farmers that make over $50,000 per year (if the elderly are expected to live on less than $12,000 per year, then so can the farmers).

8. Increase the tax on alcohol by about 200% or more --- get the DUI's of the highways. It might save lives. The government increased the tax on cig., why not alcohol? Smoking and driving don’t kill people and it’s not a crime, but drinking alcohol and driving kills and it’s a crime. Seems like the taxes are on the wrong product.

9. Close the tax loopholes that benefit the rich at the expense of the poor.
