David Brody’s right. If it weren’t for Huckabee denying him a decent share of the evangelical vote, Romney would probably be the GOP frontrunner:
Huckabee caught fire in Iowa and took crucial votes away from Romney. It left Romney with one of those silver medals. But you don’t spend millions of dollars to get a silver medal. That was strike one.
Strike two was in Florida. Huckabee once again dipped into the Evangelical communities in the panhandle and the Jacksonville areas and dealt Romney another blow.
Strike three may come February 5th. Romney will troll for votes across the country especially in the mountain states and in the south but here comes Mike Huckabee again. He will sweep in and burn Romney again with Evangelicals and take away from Romney’s vote count. It’s kind of like the Road Runner and Wild E Coyote. Or here’s another analogy for you. It’s like Lucy and Charlie Brown with Huckabee in the role of Lucy who keeps taking the football away from Charlie Brown.

Brody is spot on. Huckabee is the spoiler. So much for country first.

I don’t think anybody realizes that there is a portion of the Evangelical vote that will not vote for Romney because he is a mormon. I am a strong evangelical and know several who would never vote for him because of that. I think those of you who believe that Mike Huckabee is stealing away the Evangelical vote from Romney are mistaken.

I’m deathly afraid of McCain winning the nomination. Romney is our only chance!

Mike–Would you not vote for a Catholic, a Jew, or a Muslim for the same reason? What about a main liner? What do you say to Romney’s line that he’s running to be commander-in-chief, not pastor-in-chief?

Hmmm, that’s SOME “Christian” attitude ya got there – NOT!
There aren’t supposed to BE any “religious tests” to hold public office in America. It AIN’T a theocracy, and the office is called President, not ‘pastor’.
It is just so laffable that these 2 are trying to ‘out-God’ each other – both are EQUALLY scary (and at least one of them is 2-faced to boot!).

Kris: Can you be a “Christian” and a bigot at the same time?? UHHHHH, Apparently so. How do you and your “friends” reconsile that in your minds?

Just what is the problem of some Evangelicals with Mormons? I had thought of myself as an evangelical, but maybe I’m wrong. Personally, I’d have more problems with Southern Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and Episcopalians (or anyone who preaches replacement theology). And since when are Southern Baptists evangelicals? I always thought of them as fundamentalists.
