The God-o-Meter (pronounced Gah-DOM-meter) scientifically measures factors such as rate of God-talk, effectiveness—saying God wants a capital gains tax cut doesn't guarantee a high rating—and other top-secret criteria (Actually, the adjustment criteria are here). Click a candidate's head to get his or her latest God-o-Meter reading and blog post. And check back often. With so much happening on the campaign trail, God-o-Meter is constantly recalibrating!
Have you ever heard of that song "Lyin Faces" Barack Obama has got that one down, he is a Politician allright and a Chamelian. He doesn't even know there is a trailer behind him. He thinks God only knows. lol
"I was hoping that Daniel had turned up something substantive"
Where did that (clearly) false hope come from? Why would 'substance' count when innuendo and the bearing of false witness (see ShoshannaSue's uncharitable comment on "Lyin Faces" above) can be so much more effective in Swift-boating a candidate?
If this is what "Christians" do to a fellow Christian, then freedom of religion is a thing of the past in America.
"God-o-Meter is the first to admit that there are more substantive issues in the election than Obama's faith and false rumors about it. ... [The Obama camp] wouldn't have devoted a page on its web site to combating the rumors point by point. And it wouldn't have printed up flyers in South Carolina screaming that Obama has been "Called to Christ" and "Committed Christian" in huge letters. This is a serious if regrettable issue for the campaign. God-o-Meter is merely questioning whether Obama has made it more of an issue by playing down his childhood connections to Islam and creating the appearance that he's got something to hide."
I place the blame firmly and squarely on God-o-rama. There aren't supposed to BE any "religious tests" placed on candidates for elected office in a country that touts freedom of religion in the first place. God-o-rama's sole purpose is to impose them, and personally, I find it vile. (Romney wasn't "Christian enough" - sure doesn't bode well for any future Muslim or Hindu or Buddhist or atheist candidate.)
"God-o-Meter is the first to admit that there are more substantive issues in the election than Obama's faith and false rumors about it."
If you "admit" it, why do you dwell on these UN-subsantive "issues" so much???
The Obama camp would not have HAD to "[devote] a page on its web site to combating the rumors point by point. And it wouldn't have printed up flyers in South Carolina screaming that Obama has been "Called to Christ" and "Committed Christian" in huge letters." if it hadn't been for the insistence of God-o-rama on helping to spread false witness.
"This is a serious if regrettable issue for the campaign."
The only "regrettable" thing is/was this imposing religious tests on the candidates - ALL of them. He11, a meter to rate their individual religiosity - how repugnant could it get?
"God-o-Meter is merely questioning whether Obama has made it more of an issue by playing down his childhood connections to Islam and creating the appearance that he's got something to hide."
You really don't get it do you? He DOESN'T have to "hide" anything. Your repetition of rumour and false innuendo is what makes him have to devote time and energy to combat it. It's called Swift-boating, and it's pretty transparent.
The count of actual reader comments (abysmally low on almost every single 'article' God-orama has posted ought to have been an indication that there's little interest in how "Godly" candidates are. The people saw enough of that in Bush, and look where it got them.
Please stop doing this.
I'm far from a political animal. I didn't even bother to vote in the primaries. And yet there hasn't been a single revelation about the candidate's links to Islam that I hadn't already heard about, mostly from the candidate himself. Where are you getting this stuff that the average voter doesn't know, or that Obama has somehow been unwilling to address these connections or links or smoking guns or whatever they are?
Here's what I think: As a political pundit it's to your advantage to keep this subject alive long past its expiration date. So, even though you don't really think Obama's a closet Muslim, and you're pretty sure that only fools and knaves are spreading the rumor, you'll give the subject a little kick every now and then just to keep it in play. Because, after all, what else would you have to write about?
The information was posted on the internet by Christian Republican's from the First Church of Christ. From there the research was done and turned out to be true and Obama has been lying about it ever sense. Why would you go to a Mosque on Friday night and not "Seriously Pray?" The Mosque is a place for "Serious Prayer on Friday night" and then, social interaction. His daughter is also wearing a mask. Their actions do not demonstrate the meaning of their words.
Yes, "Words, Just Words!"
However, another view of the addictive family that is not recovered is they all will demonstrate similar behavious. A nonrecovered drug addict will lie when the truth would fit better. Obama would be better off to go to the tables where he can tell it like it is and get a sponsor and begin some truth telling. He needs to lay it on the line because it looks like he is getting into deeper and deeper do do with all of his dealings. The Republicans have and will eat him alive.
F R E E D O M O F R E L I G I O N
Why are we dwelling on this issue, it makes me sad and I pity Obama that he is being harassed in such a way.
There were few Muslims who did what millions didn't do and the name is branded forever? This is holding a grudge against the entire religion because a few people process information in a weird and deadly way - you know someone could do that and blame Christianity and it has been done too! There are rumors that people of other faiths were being imposters and blamed Islam in the Twin Tower Attacks, did you hear? Or is that still hush hush? I know that didn't make news for very long.
Please get over it this religion conflict and let's try to love our neighbors no matter what their religion is.
