Wright’s Toll

wright3.jpgMore evidence that the Wright controversy is pulling down Barack Obama’s poll numbers: the Gallup daily tracking poll now shows Hillary ahead for the first time in a month:

Obama’s campaign has been plagued by controversial remarks made by his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama delivered a major speech on race Tuesday to try to move beyond the controversy. The initial indications are that the speech has not halted Clinton’s gaining momentum, as she led by a similar margin in Tuesday night’s polling as compared to Monday night’s polling.

A new memo from chief Hillary Clinton strategist Mark Penn crows about a whole batch of new polls that have the New York senator nosing ahead of Obama. The memo declines to mention the Wright flap as the reason for the shift, but you can read through Penn’s lines:

The more that the voters learn about Barack Obama, the more his ability to beat John McCain is declining compared to Hillary. For a long time we have explained that poll numbers for a candidate who has not yet been vetted or tested are not firm numbers, and we are beginning to see that clearly. Just a month ago, the Obama campaign claimed that the polls showed Barack Obama doing better than Hillary against Sen. McCain. Now such numbers are a lot harder to find.

The Clinton camp obviously feels the Wright controversy is evidence of Obama’s under-vettedness. The public might be agreeing. These polls provide a snapshot of a very tough week for Obama, however. The results of next week’s polls–and the question of whether the news media continue to rely on Wright to fill hours of daily airtime–will give a better read on long-term damage. For now, though, the Wright episode appears to have given Clinton a major advantage in the state that matters most: Pennsylvania. From Penn’s memo:

And in the crucial state of Pennsylvania – the next Democratic primary battleground and the biggest state which has not yet voted – the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Hillary doubling her Democratic primary lead over Barack Obama from 6 points to 12 points. In Pennsylvania, Hillary improved among men, maintained her 24 point advantage among women, and improved among younger, older, more educated and less educated voters. She leads in every region across the state (NE, SE, NW, SW, Central, Alleghany) with the exception of Philadelphia.

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. It’s exactly how I said it would be. The pundits would fall over themselves praising it and the voters would either ignore it or dislike it.

The final tallly is election day. There are a number people of who are wishful thinking. Obama is going to make a great straight forward President who is willing to tackle anything. A number of Americans would rather not talk about race, because of fear and guilt. I think America need to address the issues of race, because it can help unitify this great nation. Conseratives does not want to clear the air on race ,because the race divide is prosper for right wing radio and TV personality. Hatred is a way to get people elected. fear of other races will only weaken America. Any good American would want a unified nation. Nation dividers should be held accountable for their evil deeds. As a christian ,i think Obama is the best candidate for America. Race talk does not frighten me. I want unity.

As I look at the times and the word of God, and how it say’s about the last days we will see many things taking place that will sound good to the average ear, and it will sound like a good thing, because people want what is good for them and not what is best for our country or well-being.
There are those that are running for the Presidency of United States that will say whatever they have to say to get elected, and not really mean a word they are saying.
People do this in all walks of life, even yourself at times say things to cover-up something you did, or to make yourself look good to others.
Be honest with yourself.
I know that being a true Christian and standing on not just God’s word, but not afraid to speak the name of Jesus Christ in fear of being stoned by todays world.
We had had some good presidents and we have had some so called bad Presidents that seem to just occupy the white house, but did nothing to better our country, just their own political party.
Being President should have nothing to do with what party you belong to, and who’s hands you can wash to get into the seat.
We need to do certain things in order to get elected, and at times it may seem like we are selling out.
If you are going to be a Born-again Christian and want to be a president at the sametime, and you walk and talk the Christian language and faith, you will never become president.
You can’t sell out and do what man wants you to do, but you will have to so call bend a little, to get into the seat.
Obama, is trying to become President of our country at a time when we are at war with HIS people, and he will have mixed feelings on issues.
He will have the tendency to want to do what is right for his people and not so much for the radical muslums.
Obama should have left the church that was teaching hatred at times, and when we become christians we are to no longer look at color of skin or make racial comments putting other races down.
We can’t talk about helping the poor and mean help the black.
there are poor people in all races.
I agree the blacks had a terrible time in history and they still do have a tuff road, but they can’t continue to use the race card and think it will make thing equal.
Jews, and other races had it tuff at times and need to step up to the place and stop wanting a hand-out and give a hand-up to others.
The border will never be bulit as Bush is playing a game with the people.
mexico, America, Canada will be one Nation very very soon.
Why do you think they are pushing the Spanish language so hard.
Affirmative action is not a good thing either, it is giving favor for color and not qualification.
I didn’t get a certain possition because I lost it to a black man because of quota.
I can see how the black man felt when this happened to him.
There is still racial problems in our country, and it will always be because of people who are ignorant and have the inteligence of a bag of rocks.
Rev. wright is using his polpit to spread hatred in the hearts of young blacks and this is one reason why the race issue will most likely never go away.
he will answer to God for what he is saying.
We are accountable for what we say, and don’t say.
I look at family values as one of the main issues we need to consider when putting a person in the white house, and I will say Hilary is not that people.
She is for the female sex and has a stand on equal rights, in a way that it is unjust for all of mankind.
The Clinton are for the Clintons and she likes power.
She is not a Christian, just a game player.
I believe we will never, or let me say should never leave the middle east.
We need to stand with Israel, and any real Child of God would know this.
God’s word is true and we must stand with Israel.
America is selling out Israel and America will pay hard for doing so.
We are heading for a one world government, a one world ecconomy, and yes a one world religion.
That religion will not have Jesus Christ in the picture, only what people call their god.
I believe that Obama should stand up and denounce his walk as a muslim, and say what he truely thinks about Muhammad, if he is a Child of God.
he needs to stop tickling certain ears to get votes.
IF God wants him in the white house he will make a way. Let him proclaim that Jesus Christ is what this world needs and mean it from his heart.
I pray that all our leaders turn to the true God and his Son Jesus Christ.
I know this nation was run by whites for many years and again I repeat this” we need to get our eyes off color and sex”.
We need someone who will stand up and be true to Jesus Christ at any cost.
If they have to die doing so, then let that be in God’s hands.
We live in a nation of filth, a country where wrong is right, and right is wrong.
We live in a country where our freedom is being taken away from us, and we are going into dictatorship, and I truely mean that.
Our government system is going tell us when we can go to the bathroom, what we can buy, what we can say, and only do what they think is right.
God help America for turning her back on you?
Our government has concentration camps ready for those who go against the system.
I won’t say, “God bless America” because America has turned on the true God.
We only call on him when we need help.
We need to depend on him everyday, not just when we need that Genie in a bottle.
We called on him during 911 but after the dust settled, it was back in the bottle.
Let me add this…..Our government is using FEAR to control the people, and FEAR is a way Satan operates.
I pray for our country, but prayer can only be answered if the thing or persons you are praying for respond to the calling. This will all be played down and the government will sit back and smile, and proclaim people like me as crazy religious Jesus Freaks.

It’s very interesting that those condemning OBAMA and the left speak the exact same language as Reverend Wright. Maybe God has a sense of humor and that’s why the name has r-i-g-h-t in it.
Remember Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, GOP Evangelical regulars, saying the week of 911 that we deserved it.
Evangelicals are very ignorant about what it means to live in a pluralistic society. And no, our nation was not founded by Evangelicals. It was founded by Deists, Humanists, Freemasons, and Renaissance men. We’re a REPUBLIC; not a theocracy.
When our country was being founded Puritans were accusing each other of being witches to make land-grabs.
