Cheney Enters Wright Fray

cheney.jpgInteresting to note that the continuing slow drip of Wright criticism from conservatives has created the unusual circumstance of Republicans attacking a religious leader. Public opinions polls show that most Americans share that criticism, so far be it from God-o-Meter to propose that the GOP risks some backlash for knocking a clergyman. But the controversy does align a Democrat--Obama--more with a religious tradition and the GOP against it at a time when John McCain's party already has issues with its religious base and Democrats are making inroads among the faithful.

Here's Dick Cheney weighing in on Wright yesterday, courtesy of ABC News:

Vice President Dick Cheney made a quick appearance on Sean Hannity's radio show, where he used some very strong words to condemn the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barak Obama's former pastor.

"I thought some of the things he said were absolutely appalling," Cheney told the conservative talk show host. "And, you know, I haven't gotten into the business of trying to judge how Sen. Obama dealt with it, or didn't deal with it, but I really -- I think, like most Americans, I was stunned at what the reverend was preaching in his church and then putting up on his Web site."

Yeah, and some of US thought the things Cheney DIDN'T say - in defense of his own daughter - were appalling. Who gives a flying squirrel's patootie what this chump thinks or says? Only 10 more agonizing months 'til he's out of office.

Cheney was appauled because he knows the truth and did not realize how many people know or speak the truth. We are appauled at his behavior. Why isn't he doing time for manslaughter? I hope that he is never allowed to ever carry a shotgun again due to his drunken aim during his hunting exhibition. What if Obama or Clinton had carelessly shot a lawyer while hunting? Free to go on with his usual business in D.C.? I don't think so! Why do Republican's think they are untouchable? Why haven't we impeached their behinds out of office?
